During the heavyweight championship fight saturday night, I noticed that Wladimir was blatantly throwing his head into Tyson Fury. If you go back and watch, he did it late in the fight several times.
It was a series of terrible fouls.
I understand Tyson was rabbit punching, but thats only because Wlad would lock his other arm, and Tyson would throw punches with his free hand.
Wlad caused the rabbit punching with his clinching style.
I understand this is a moot point, but I don't believe boxing fans should give Wlad a pass. He crumbled mentally late in the fight, and resorted to Andrew G type tactics.
It exposes him to some degree, he truly lacks the true mental fire to be a champion, to defeat men that are his physical equal.
I believe Wlad needs to explain his behavior.
I'm not defending Klitschko at all...it was bad and very obvious and Weeks ignored it even after Fury looked right at him. But what few people saw was that Fury headbutted Klitschko twice and the second one which followed the Klitschko headbutt shortly afterwards opened a cut under the eye of Klitschko. He really didn't get away with anything...he paid.
Klitschko always received favourable referring his entire career. Thank god he didn't own the judges Saturday.
This, it was more of a you hit me low so Im going to hit you low thing than one guy going out of his way to blatantly foul his opponent.

Wlad usually avoids them... the buts were clearly cuase by the way Fury lunged in with punches. He was understandable frustrated after being cut twice by headbutts from Fury. I wouldn't classify what he did as out there dirty, especially with the way Tyson was rabbit punching all night, and head butting. It was more the usually technical champion getting into the trenches a little bit.
Also the excuse for rabbit punching isn't really valid. Tyson was clearly targeting the back of Klits head intending to rough him up inside to disturb him mentally inbetween bouts of dancing around outside. Its not often you see points deducted for rabbit punching. It has to be fairly clear, intentional, and not the fault of the other fighter.
Fury was flirting with DQ for rabbit punches.
He fights like a coward, he avoids exchanges at all costs. He is not a true fighter, he is incredibly soft, and this headbutt demonstrates that.
Correct sir!
ward has never headbuttet like that :lol1:
dude blatantly tucked his chin and launched the thing!
we set the headbutts up with feints and clinches for 3 rounds. slick boxing.

Has to kill a fanbase that always calls Andre Ward a hugging headbutter when their guy is exactly that. :lol1:
Wlad has always been one of the dirtiest fighters in boxing and it's ridiculous that people pretend otherwise.
Freedom :lol1:
Headbutts, Glove demands and spongy ring gate :lol1:
Tough times for Klitschko fans after the amount of sh*t they have given fighters like Mayweather and Ward over the years.
It's how you know their reasons for not liking those fighters are total bullsh*t. If they were true, they wouldn't support Wlad.

When bullies get bullied. They fall apart. Like Tyson did against Holyfield.
100%.
It's mental weakness, and honestly, it really cheapens his reign. He fought smaller men, we have no idea how good he really was. I also suspect that there was some shady things going on in his comfy confines of Germany. From the drug testing, to the ring mat, I don't trust anything about K2 promotions right now.
For the same reasons he has been allowed to clinch/foul his way throught the majority of his title defences!

I only remember 1 headbutt and he disguised it pretty well like Maidana tried to vs Broner (shove head up in clinch to break free, headbutting in the process). From the refs vantage point it can be confusing if you're just pushing off or headbutting. From our angle it was pretty clear.
But Broner sold it and Fury didn't. He just glanced at the ref for a split second who didn't seem sure.

Klitschko's long been a fighter who bent the rules to his advantage, but I don't think anyone truly saw him as a dirty fighter before. Hopefully they do so now. His headbutts showed that his good guy image was all a sham, and that when the chips are down he'll resort to anything to win a fight. This and the Povetkin and Jennings fights have made me retroactively alter my opinion on his whole career. I've never been a massive fan of his but I always respected him as a gentleman and ambassador of the sport, as well as an exemplary boxer. I now know that to be a lie. He's neither a gentleman nor an exemplary boxer but a man who's used his position to twist and manipulate the rules to his favour.
I said I'd be sad once Klitschko is beaten, but I find I'm really not. Instead it's like a weight has been lifted off the division, allowing it to finally flourish again. I don't wish anything bad on Wlad and know that he will definitely go down in the history books as a top ten heavyweight, and deservedly so, but these last few fights have really opened my eyes to just what a smoke and mirrors guy he's been. An ATG he is not.
Awesome post. I totally agree
The headbutt Was pretty blatant. The referee should have penalized him or at least given him a stern warning.
Right.
But he didn't do anything, and then, the media didn't address it.
Tyson is a trooper, so he actually have not totally whined about it, but its BS. Its a weak move from a soft fighter.
The funny thing is, Wlad's second cut came from him trying to headbutt Fury.
He head butted fury, and cut himself.
Justice
The headbutt was absolutely disgusting from a so called ambassador to the sport. Wlad could possibly argue that Fury was rabbit punching, but Wlad kept turning his head away from the action. The ref was terrible and i can't believe the HBO commentators didn't mention it.
HBO swept it under the rug, but to be fair to them, they had no control over the replays, or the German telecast, i have to believe HBO production would have spotlighted it.
