Wladimir has basically been training himself since Manny died. Win or lose, there is no way Wlad would have turned in such an awful performance with Steward in his corner last weekend.
Klitschko raising his hand after the fight definitely indicated that Banks' telling him he needed a knockout simply didn't get through: he either was listening to Vitali or was disregarding Banks' opinion.
If Wladimir is going through with the rematch, he needs to ditch Banks, stop training in a goddamn luxury resort, and get the fire back. Rocky III style.
Who should train Wladimir Klitschko in his effort to regain the titles?
Freddie Roch? Robert Garcia? Adam Booth? Apollo Creed??

Wlad will be 40 in his next fight, hiring a new trainer will be pointless bro.
Even if you're telling Wlad the proper instructions, you have to convey the urgency in a certain way. Can you imagine the meltdown Steward would have been having as Wlad was losing his title in such a fashion? Even in the Jennings fight he probably have been losing his sh*t.
Tough loss for everyone..no need to ditch it all at this age, it will look like a mid-life crisis. Nobody can replace Steward's presence but maybe they can bring in another more forceful animated voice to speak who was around for those camps and know what made Wlad angry? Banks is good, but maybe too laid back? Extended kronk family - james ali bashir bigger voice or something? Wlad could have used a scolding
Teddy Atlas would be great as a motivator. Can you imagine what sort of he'd scream to Wlad between rounds?
"We're an octopus, we're a squid. We live in the ink!"
Pitty he hates Wlad's guts.
Steward has said several times that wlad is the fighter with the most natural
talent he has trained, but with wlad he was more a psychologist then a trainer.
wlad should do like froch did before his second fight with groves, hire a sport psychologist.
also, he should hire a s & c coach ala gavin macmillian, wlad has been doing the same old traing for 11 years now.
as a head coach, maybe hire pedro diaz?
Back to basic and old wlad perhaps, or maybe he is total shot, you could see it against jennings also that he seemed finished as a champ
Maybe Teddy Atlas.
Wlad can join Team Firemen with Bradley. But Wlad didn't look good at all last Saturday. I would actually rather see him retire and volunteer as a firefighter. He would have a better chance fighting fire than Fury.
He cant do it, he is too old and too adapted to this style he is using now.
He could probably do slightly better with that dude who trains Algieri but even then its upto Wlad to change his fighting style. He is a zero risk taker.
He is 39. That's the problem. Sure his corner failed against Fury. I don't really care if Banks said the right Things as someone has pointed out. The bottom line is that they failed to get Wlad to DO the right things.
Now at age 39 would thing be different with another trainer. I doubt it. Only thing is if that trainer had some authority that Wlad would respect. Maybe Ulli Wegner.
Roach is not a good trainer for him, he will tell him to be offensive and gets himself knocked out.
Hunter is not bad, but still not good for him, Wlad is not a guy with a lot of movements.
He should stick with Banks. Wlad knows what he has to do, he needed some more motivation not a different trainer. the guy is 39 years old now and accomplished a lot, finding motivation is a bit difficult, and when you knock guys out like he used to he just a bit confident (not motivated). He always had problems when fighting guys taller then him, with a different trainer the result would have been the same.
I'm a fan of Wlad's but this is not Banks' fault. This is on Wlad.
Precisely this. This isn't the fault of a trainer, the reason Wladimir lost was because Fury knew how to offset his habits and Wladimir is so set in his ways he couldn't snap out of it. Simple as that.
Even if Manny Steward was still with us and in Wlad's corner I can still see Wlad's performance being very similar. Steward would have actually had the methods of motivation he needed in between rounds, but I can't see Wlad actually doing much as a result of it.
Wladimir fights in a way that means he only commits when it is safe to do so. Fury was too unpredictable for him to feel this, therefore he didn't engage. That isn't a trainers fault, it is his.
Maybe, but don't you think it's a little late for that? Realistically how long would it take him to find and gel with a trainer? I'd say at least six months to a year...unless his brother decides to train him.
Yes i agree, it will take time for training!
he's been fighting the same exact way for ten years. stay out of range and grab when his opponent gets close. i said fury would win easily a year ago because wlad's not actually a good boxer. he's good at not letting smaller opponents box by holding them but that's about it.
