considering that haymon has the majority of the WBC top 10 at welterweight, i'd imagine the tournament was actually his idea. he has several of the top 10 of the WBC at superwelter as well. PBC has a lot of dates to fill and a lot of fighters to keep active. these tournaments add context to fights that otherwise would have little purpose. like garcia vs guerrero or those two contenders nobody had heard of. WBC collects 3% btw, not 10%.
