Can't remember seeing him landing a single one on Fury.
Honestly it maybe overrated bcuz personally a boxer with a great jab can land on a boxer of any height/reach. Last night klitchkos jab was non existent on a boxer with a height/reach advantage. His jab is good but not great like we all thought.
I stopped watching heavyweight fights when these Wlad became champ.
Boring... and truthfully, much of Wlad's "greatness..." was due his range/reach advantage. He can jab the shyt out of you from 5 feet away and hug you when you get inside like a chinless btch.
yes......but people here won't admit it...I like Wlad(presonality wise, hate his boxing) but he has always been crap in boxing terms...just a talented(physically, with size and power) big man in a very weak era, who got toyed with by a man who had enough size and speed to neutralize Wlad's physical gifts....
I agree with you in the big picture, but Vlad has been able to employ his jab against big men. But yes...the minute you take a fighter who can move, knows the tricks, can use, even if not being a specialist, a wide range of techniques, we see how weak this era of boxing is for the big men.

Nope. Vlad has a great jab. He just needs to set a bit to throw it. Fury neutralized the jab with his footwork, it had nothng to do with his own jab. Fury was actually quite sloppy with his jab, probably because, he is still develping the coordination and confidance to throw his jab in the ring like he was with his trainer on the pads. When he can look out!!! Like Ali fury is trying to throw his jab without setting the feet. This makes it untelegraphed and fast.
But Vlad can ko with his jab once he gets it going.
I think your mistaking the quality of his jab versus having limited offense. Is Donaire's left hook overrated because Rigo took it away? I don't think so but it shows how limited he is.
that's how I look at it, too. The lead right was there all night for him but he just refused to throw it. That would have opened up more opportunities for himself but his self-preserving style has basically neutered his offence.
So his jab is only good against shorter fighters / fighters with no head movement?
Shouldn't a great jab be able to do well against all types of styles.
I mean I'm not saying his jab is bad. It's definitely good. But some people have been saying it's the best in the sport for years now.

Hell no. Fury's entire game plan was built upon neutralizing that very jab. He's limited and can't adjust when his main weapon is taken away. But be still has one of the best jab in boxing.
His jab is nowhere near as good as it used to be, that's been the case for 3-4 years.
It used to be a dominant punch with real power and control. In recent years it's become a much more pawing punch and range finder.
No it's just difficult to employ that same strategy against someone taller and longer. He got out jabbed. How many has he fought that were taller and had longer arms than him? He needed to actually fight on the inside against this guy ... Bad strategy IMO
Come on now...
Why can't fighter loose the fight without being promoted to a bum status.
Wlad has one of the best jabs in the history of the sport.
Landing a jab on 6 9 giant, who is a switch, who faints and lean back is almost impossible.
Because this is NSB, and, it appears, three-quarters of the posters have no knowledge of the sport.
