Mayweather=retired
Pacquiao=on his way out
Cotto-lost on his way out
Wlad-Lost on his way out
Canelo=New lineal middleweight champion young
Fury=new lineal heavyweight champ young
The changing of the guards is right in from of us...exciting times ahead
You just contradicted yourself man..Lewis beating Briggs is what made him the lineal champ.....
Oh yeah, good call. I forgot that the real lineal title was reconnected to the undisputed championship through Lewis.
I somehow was thinking that it somehow got linked to the WBO title way back when Vitali then Byrd then Wlad had it.
So then, I stand by my assertion that Fury is not lineal.
Wlad and Vitali were holding the division hostage for years as #1 and #2 without facing each other after Lewis retired to the point that I feel we need a true undisputed champion to create a new lineage.
Yes, it certainly feels like a changing of the guard. It's exciting. I'm very interested in seeing on how this will turn out. Who will rise to the top? Who will fall?
Am I?
I'm pretty sure that since Wlad did not fight Vitali, who was the best and most proven title holder after Lewis retired, and because of that a new lineage was never established.
Unless you are talking about the bogus lineage that was passed from Foreman to Briggs via the WBO title.

Damn bro...this is making me feel old. Im only 30 and have watched 3 boxing eras pass by
I got into boxing when Sweet Pea was the man in the early 90s, Roy held it down from the time I was in middle school-College and Floyd has was the man since around 04 to now
I cant take much more of this shyt!!!! Uncle Roy still holding on....if he could take a better punch he'd probably have already won a title at cruiserweight between 2005 and now...Correct me if I'm wrong but before the ko wasnt the fight with lebedev pretty close
Am I?

Well most give him a pass for not fighting Vitali being that it was his brother.
Even if you dont he fought the no,2 in Povetkin after Vitali had retired.
Wlad vs Byrd established a new lineage. Or if not that Wlad vs Chagaev/Ibragimov/Haye/Povetkin etc
You are thinking of undisputed which is different.

I agree. I have just been explaining this to a friend, who is a casual as it happens, but still...This year really has had the feeling of a shift in the generations, Really feels as though a new crop are bringing about the turning of a new era.
wilder would not look like he has vs klit. wilder is easier to hit for wlad and fears the power. there's a reason why wilders team waited.
fury and wilder both were sparring partners for wlad. fury said he can beat him and knows how. watch the face off on youtube.
wilder said he could but clearly backed offI don't go by what they say, I go by what I see and Wlad is too far past his prime to beat Wilder and Fury is a sitting duck for those long right hands of Wilder.
With the number of amateur style punches those two threw tonight, Wilder beats both. That one combination Wilder threw to get his last opponent out seemed like more punches than Fury and Wlad threw in 3 rounds. Neither of these two stiffs tonight even knows what a combination is.

well in order to have excitement in HW division Wilder has to stay undefeated as well Fury before they face each other n they dont seem as dominant to stay looking good, lets hope they do n i think they will
Wilder vs Fury for late 2016
I feel Fury may get KTFO and may hug more like Wlad. Wilder as limited as he is, really does have that punchers chance
Canelo will lose as soon as he fights GGG imo
Well Wilder was fighting a Plumber in his last fightBut at least after his slow starts in fights, he lets his hands go which is something that was missing tonight. I firmly believe Wilder would have out thrown and out landed both of those guys tonight and sent one or both to sleep. The 100% motivated Wilder that fought Stiverne dominates both those guys tonight.
I said like a year ago that wlad should retire so hopefully he does I thing boxing will become very exciting in the next few years. We now got our own Mcgregor who has actually beat a legit opponent

Hopefully we get Fury-Wilder
I would like Fury/Haye first (the press conferences alone would be epic ) and Wilder/Briggs and winner of either fight each other.

Hard to compare Canelo and Fury
Fury's lineage is legitimate in that it reflects the best of his division
Canelo's clearly doesn't. He hasn't proven to be the best in the two divsions hes fought in yet, but he's still young.
However that wasn't your main point, and I somewhat agree. We also have Gonzales who seems to be taking the sport by storm (relatively, for a flyweight), at least in 'p4p' terms. The cruiserweight division is heating up again, featherweight is loaded, super featherweight has just found a new titleholder whos marketable.
Exciting times indeed
The biggest thing that could hold boxing back is the best fights not being made.
