He defied all odds and delivered a great performance. Really, I take my hat off to him and his team. That was fantastic.
The reign of Vladimir Klitschko is over. Congratulations to the new Heavyweight Champion of the world!
My initial analysis is one of, well, bemusement, for lack of a better word. Watching Fury fight is like watching a giant with no rhythm attempting to dance; but somehow making it work for him.
Fury is very awkward, very unorthodox, almost goofy in his delivery of the sweet science; but it works. Klitschko is 40+, so I have no doubt his reflexes aren't what they once were; but I do not feel that his age really played a factor in this fight as much as the general complacency and safety-first style he's adopted over the last 10 years.
Klitschko has gotten in a bad habit of waiting on his opponent to make a mistake so he could counter, depending on his usual superior size, strength, and reach to keep his quarry at bay in the meantime. And, it has worked every single time to great affect until Saturday night.
Fury is bigger than Klitschko and has a longer reach. He also moves surprisingly fast for such a giant of a man and, awkward as he looks, is very nimble on his feet. Wladimir allowed Fury to dictate the pace of the fight and fell into his offbeat rhythm. He waited too long, perhaps mesmerized by the jangly, herky-jerky show which was unfolding before his eyes. By the time he realized he was behind in the fight, it was too late.
Anyway, congratulations to the new champion. It wasn't a slugfest, a blood bath, or a war. It was kind of like watching a giant Buster Keaton flee from Jack Dempsey, all the while, slapping him silly.
Good breakdown.

Respect to him for winning the title, but it's diluted. Clinchko is terrible, and Fury has very little skill. The HW division might be at it's worst ever and that's not exaggeration.
I see. You are actually inside his mind and know what he's thinking and saying.
No but Fury is an intelligent man. Was he really going to go into the official post fight press conference in Germany and start telling everyone that it was an easy fight? No. He knows there's probably going to be a rematch there & wants to keep his German fans happy.
Fury was just telling the Wlad fans what they wanted to hear.

Fury has said, and says a lot of things in general. He also considers himself the greatest since Ali, so there you go.
Tyson Fury at the official post fight presser:
First of all, congratulations to Vladimir and his team - he put up a really good fight. Tonight, I found him quite awkward to land clean on, as he did me. You know, he caught me with some good shots, so credit to him ... if I could be half as good a champion as Vladimir Klitschko, I'd be very, very happy.

Tyson Fury on Sky Sports News after the fight
'Regardless of some of the the scorecards being 115-112, there were rounds in there where I was playing with him and had my hands behind my back, hands in the air. I was taunting him the whole way through, I was playing games in there and it was our plan to enjoy the fight from the first bell to however long it lasted, and just excite, entertain and be a sportsman.'
No it's not. You're claiming that it was a close fight when it blatantly wasn't.

Doesn't sound like 'an easy win' to me.
Yawn, there's more people claiming that it was an 'easy win' than people claiming that Wlad lost it by a round. Yet again you didn't answer the question. you're nothing but a Wlad fanboy through and through. Pathetic.
I had Fury winning, the margin is irrelevant at the end of the day.
Vlad was busier in the championship rounds and won them on my card. Many rounds were close and would be scored differently by different observers, naturally... Above all, Fury did win the fight, but it was closer than one would think at first glance.
Saying Fury had an 'easy win' is bollocks and a fanboy comment from you. There are a few serious Fury supporters, but you are not one of them.

Answer the question, how did you score the 11th round to Wlad?

I wouldn't say it was 'easy work' - Fury had a good gameplan and won the fight. Fury did his amount of wrestling too and didn't have a great output. It was tactical and Fury used his size and reach, especially.
Rematch will be interesting and we can make some bets when we get to it.
Answer the question, how did you score the 11th round to Wlad?
How the f*** did you give round 11 to Wlad? lololol.
Seriously mate, Fury won it easy, i rewatched it and gave Wlad a single round, the 12th. Easy work, just like i said it would be.

In the 11th, Tony Weeks took one point away from Fury for his repeated rabbit punching, but one could argue Vlad should have been punished for headbutting in the same round. So that one was evened out in my opinion.
All in all a close fight. Rematch needed!
Yes it was extremely close and pathetic on the part of Wladimir. Fury himself didn't look extremely good but PEter Fury is right in that when 2 top boxers get together their styles nullify each others and you can get a broing or scrappy fight.
Likewise Wlad's low output has also been realistically explained somewhat through him not wasting shots that he knew he couldn't land the way he wanted to, although this is a FLAW in Wlad's reasoning during the fight he should work on because clearly a greater volume of punches even if NOT landed cleanly would likely have won him the fight.
I could easily come down squarely on the side of Wladimir defeating himself and rob Fury of any credit but that would be extremely biased.
On the contrary it took someone with the qualities and hunger of Fury to be able to punish Wladimir for coming in so crap were that the case anyway.
And of course it may not have been a fluke and Fury may just simply have more than Wlad at this stage of their careers.
Fortunately we will find out. I will back old Wladdy again but this time it will be an even prospect really and there will be no underestimating Fury.
Fury really is the "Super-Ali" Were he to be American, EVERY one of the OTNB community would be behind him but because he is British, he is rubbished along with Wlad now in favour of their 2 headed attack centred around..

Remove clinching from Wlad's game and this is what we get.
What are you on about? There were plenty of clinches last night. It was scruffy as hell! :lol1:
Kudos to Fury.
It could be easier, but also Wlad will throw more and be more aggressive. There could be a big KO either way.
I think Wlad will do exactly what he did last night as soon as he gets the first jab.
It's not in his nature to go for it. He can't win a boxing match with Fury, he's too quick and too long.
Too many dimensions for Wlad.
Sad, but true.
Yep. Major props to Fury.
I'm eating my crow right now, and it's absolutely delicious:alcoholic
You're getting it served for weeks!!!
