I like the guy. Great power and IQ but the guy will not take risks man. Simple.
"I will fight Floyd at 154" - But will not fight Canelo at 155. He will cut weight to fight the smaller guy he can bully, but not Canelo? Money cannot be an excuse anymore. Canelo is currently GGG's, if not boxing's, biggest draw.
"I will fight Froch at 168" - But will not fight Ward at 168. He will move up to fight an active 38 year old, with not much skill, who announced his retirement this year. But will not fight the more skillful, quicker, smarter and younger Ward?
You GGG fanatics need to be realists man. No doubt he is one of the best in the sport but he will not take risks.
Of course GGG is a risk taker, his opponents are getting better and better. GGG is supposed to have such a trash resume that Lemiux is a step up in class?
But Murray was bigger than GGG and Lemieux hit hard so he is taking risks for sure.
But seriously, Canelo needs to stop with the CW nonsense, afterall he hasn't got a zero to protect like GGG has. That doesn't excuse Floyd trying to keep his zero into retirement, because GGG can step it up later when he has achieved a bit more. I doubt GGG will worry about his zero in years to come, he will leave it all in the ring by the time hes done with his career. Unlike Floyd.
Thats the whole point of the thread, he wants everyone to fight on his terms but doesn't want to take risks if it doesn't benefit him
what you mean he is Floyd Gayweather in disguise?
Lem a bigger risk? You new to boxing? No offence it just sounds stupid to call fighting Lem a bigger risk, even Lem promoter doesn't think GGG fight his fighter was a risk.
Lemeiux was a moderate risk. Canelo is next to zero risk. At least Lemieux is somewhat awkward and explosive.
Canelo has absolutely no advantages over Golovkin other than 1-2 lbs of water and he's a huge payday. How is that a risk?
Facing Ward in your first fight at 168 is insane. Ward is arguably the best boxer alive. Only his inactivity casts doubt on the matter.
Since most people here are fans of Manny and Floyd, consider this. Not once in their careers did Floyd and Manny take a fight that's as risky as GGG fighting Ward in his first fight at 168. The closest Manny came was Barrera at 126. The closest Floyd came was Castillo at 135.
Don't demand something of a fighter that your own heroes haven't done.
floyd mayweather is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. you make a career high payday, and more importantly, if you knock him out, you jump into the next tax bracket.
people don't understand this, which is fine; they box for money! lots and lots of money. i'm just going ot say it again. this is pro boxing. they box for lots and lots of money. people get rich in this game. they don't get there by matching fighters the way a fan would.
The bold is the reality however your post will fall on deaf ears. Too many adults on this site consider boxers their personal super hero.
Lemieux was a bigger risk than Canelo will be, and one with less rewards.
Watch boxin, ignore reality tv specials and hype machines, you will see a different sport. Canelo has no ****in chance.

I don't agree with people knocking GGG for agreeing to fight Mayweather at 154 but not Canelo at 155, everybody wants to be the one to beat Mayweather so they'll make sacrifices but Canelo is a middleweight champion and GGG is his mandatory so he doesn't need to sacrifice anything for that fight.
A win over Mayweather means a lot more than a win over Canelo even if Canelo has a belt, to me its crazy to compare the two, everybody and I mean everybody wants to be the one to knock Mayweather off. When Mayweather is picking an opponent people say "who is going to win the Mayweather sweepstakes?" its not the same with Canelo, at least not yet.
As far as being willing to fight Froch at 168 and not Ward, I don't know why, maybe its just a more interesting fight to GGG, you'd have to ask him but I think he opened himself up for a bit of the **** hes been taking by saying that. I understand staying at 160 to unify that's what I would do too if I was him but if that's the plan then stick to it because as soon as you say you'll move up to fight one but not the other, people are going to **** on you.
Just moved up to 168?? he had been at 168 and even at 171 the fight before Kessler
He was also a LHW in the amateurs (although the limit is different for that)
Ward had just moved up to 168 and fought Kessler in his 20th fight. Followed by, Bika, Froch, Dawson, Abraham etc.
GGG's had 34 fights and not fought one single challenge.
That's why people give Ward credit.
Name me any other fighter in the P4P charts that has faced that level of competion from their 20th fight onwards.
Exception is obviously Rigo.

You don't like GGG. Who the fuc are you kidding. If you liked him you wouldn't start a bullsh*t thread trashing him. You like a dull fighter who clinches, wrestles, head butts and holds and hits. You like a fighter who only fights about once every 18 months against a smaller unranked fighter. You like a fighter who challenges a fighter in a smaller weight class to come up to his weight instead of fighting the other good fighters in his own weight class. You like a fighter who is so sickly and fragile he can't even complete a training camp. You like a fighter who was knocked down by a bum who only wins a third of his fights.
fighting floyd at 154 makes sense.
career wise, and money wise.
fighting ward at 168 makes NO SENSE.
career or financial wise.
GGG can beat floyd or froch. he's not ready yet for ward. I understand all the political maneuvers of all parties involved. From ward being scared sh*tless of sergei kovalev and waiting out a middleweight when he has already wiped out his career division while he has huge money and legacy fights awaiting him in his NEXT LOGICAL DIVISION (175 but fears the russian) to GGG knowing he will lose to Ward while waiting out cotto canelo....
you'd have to be a stupid person not to get any of their career machinations like the TS.
Eeeexactly! I don't know if the average poster here is stupid or what but I'm getting fed up with this crack head logic these thread starters have.
Dropping down in weight for Mayweather is much more rewarding than dropping down in weight for a paper champ - Canelo. A guy who loves fighting at catchweights and being called a champion.
GGG should take risk, yes. But dropping down in weight to fight Canelo, in this situation doesn't make sense. GGG has BEEN there as a MW. When was the last time Canelo had a fight at the weight's limit?
"i hate catchweights!"
"why isn't ggg fighting at a catchweight!"
"ggg tried to fight ward at a catchweight what a fraud!"
that's not even bipolar thats tripolar
willing to fight anyone in your division=not a risk taker. did ggg have all his fights in his home country while his opponents had to travel around the world fighting in opponent's home countries? no that was ward not ggg. did ggg turn down 3 top guys in his division? no that was ward. did ggg ask for 3 tune ups before fighting the second best guy in the division above? no that was ward. ggg tried to fight froch in his first fight at 168 but that wasn't good enough. does ggg want to drain himself 4 pounds? no. does ward want to drain himself 4 pounds no. oh wow they are similar after all! forget all the other stuff above.
I like the guy. Great power and IQ but the guy will not take risks man. Simple.

Funny how going up a division to face Ward's best scalp on his home turf is not even risky for GGG.
So you support this 155 demand?
He is a middleweight and he will gladly fight any middleweight in the world. If that isn't risk taker enough for you that's tough sh*t. Ward wanted to fight Mayweather at 160 but he won't go down to 164 to fight GGG. Ward wants the fight at his weight of 168 so he has all the advantages. I guess Ward isn't a risk taker. He fights an unranked smaller fighter once every 18 months while GGG knocks out 3 or 4 contenders or champions every year. No wonder Ward is so jealous that he can't stop bad mouthing GGG 24\7 365. That's no way for the son of God to act.
He'll move up or down for 2 retired fighters, but won't think twice about 2 current boxers who are close to being at the top of their game. Makes sense for ggg and his team.
