1)stripping champions who didn't vacate or move up
2)Ronda Rousey on the cover when Holly Holm is a 3 division champion and in many eyes represented boxing in a fight pitting two near prime fighters one MMA one a world class boxer
3) the writers let their personal bias spew out in the mailbags and articles
4) targeting fighters who are not under their umbrella and trashing them in articles
5) the quality of articles isn't near as good and I had a subscription from 1995 until 2003 when I went off to college. I would by them off the newsstand after that.
6) ringtyvonline bashes fighters instead of promoting the sport we love
The stripping of Stevenson doesn't bother me much.
The magazine itself went a bit off the rails a while back. The P4P list with Guerreo, as well as a high placed Broner was a glimpse of that.
I think you're right, I feel Stevenson's stripping was justified. Rigo should be too if he doesn't fight a well ranked opponent next too!
I think the Ring is getting things right now after a period where, as you mentioned they ****ed things up like with the Broner Guerrero issues!
I think since Shaefer left the company things are getting better, I think they need to get Chuck Giampa off their books as he is the only one with who is continually ****ing up their P4P ranking (But it's all subjective anyway so **** it!)
Seriously do you ever post anything that's praising or positive that's not Floyd related?
do you have a life, or just stalk all my posts....matter fact I have the solution...so long sucka
Can't believe that anyone is defending Stevenson, he did that to himself by ducking all quality opposition. Kovalev, Hopkins and Pascal all wanted to fight him, and somehow they have all fought each other while he is the odd man out, that's not a coincidence.
What you have to realize is that Duva is a zealous advocate for her fighter and like most would, has twisted and distorted the truth to paint her fighter in the best light. She also has the HBO propaganda machine supporting her.
On the other hand, instead of worrying about hoodwinking a few nerds on the internet, Haymon is focused on taking over the entire sport. He's not spending time publicly arguing in favor of his fighter to influence that fighter's reputation on social media and forums.
Stevenson hasn't ducked anybody. He wanted to fight Hopkins. Hopkins was on Showtime. So Stevenson signed with Showtime so he could fight Hopkins. It was the complete opposite of ducking Hopkins. He was actively going out of his way to pursue Hopkins. Unfortunately for him, Golden Boy jumped back in bed with HBO and the Hopkins fight fizzled. But to claim that Stevenson "ducked" Hopkins is laughable.
BUT, you have the Golden Boy/HBO propaganda machine very actively painting the picture they want to paint. The truth is that Hopkins thought Kovalev was an easier fight than Stevenson (whether that is true or not, we may never know, but that's what Hopkins thought). This whole story about Haymon trying to purposely cause Hopkins to get stripped, what evidence is there to support that? There isn't any. But Hopkins ran his mouth, Haymon doesn't talk, so you guys buy Hopkins' story, hook line and sinker.
Earlier this year, Kovalev's HBO deal expired. Stevenson offered to fight Kovalev on a 50/50 deal, with the fight being sold to the highest bidder. If they fought on HBO, so be it, if they fought on Showtime, so be it. It'd be a huge risk for both fighters. If Kovalev lost to Stevenson on Showtime, his HBO deal might go up in smoke. If Stevenson lost to Kovalev on HBO, his Showtime deal might go up in smoke.
But Stevenson was willing to go through with the fight anyway. Kovalev wasn't. Kovalev signed another exclusive HBO contract rather than fighting Stevenson. This is all easily verifiable fact.
But Duva ran her mouth and Haymon doesn't talk, so you guys buy Duva's story, hook line and sinker.
Earlier this year, Pascal was WBC diamond champ and the WBC offered the chance to be the mandatory, with a ****50/50**** purse split, which was reported here on BoxingScene, not a 75/25 split like one of you posted.
Pascal turned down the WBC's offer.
So out of the three fighters you mentioned, two of them turned down the Stevenson fight THIS YEAR with a 50/50 split. The third is moving down to super middleweight and is co-owner of a promotional company that is suing Stevenson's manager for hundreds of millions of dollars.
These are all easily verifiable facts. But you only get the HBO narrative pumped into your brain.... while Haymon doesn't say anything, so I can understand why after spending time in the boxingscene cult, that the HBO propaganda has led you to the conclusion you came to.
But the facts don't support the premise.

So basically "I don't agree with Ring Magazine so it must be trash!" GTFO
You are talking bull**** in all of your points. The only one I semi agree with is the Ronda cover, but from a marketing perspective, I understand why they put her on the cover, the girl sells... Where were you calling for Holly Holm to be on the Rings cover before they announced Ronda was on??
And I assume the "trashing fighters" is to do with Fischers views on Mayweather? Which is the basis of your dislike of the mag in the first place!
It's in the best interest of the fans and future of the sport long term wise for a fighter to consistently fight the best because it raises the quality of the sport and in the long run will raise it's overall stock, which will only mean more cash flows, more cash flows means every fighters will get paid handsomely and not just some select lucky fighters out there. And if ring magazine's decision to strip those idle fighters will help this vision. So be it! Strip all those fucckking idle and parasite(only fights mediocre opponents) fighters and don't stop for christ sake.

Your forgot
7) Floyd Mayweather P4P #1
Well then why didn't you say that in your post instead of trying to be amusing and make yourself laugh.
I stand corrected! I agree! Should have not tried to amuse myself.
Thanks for bringing it to me in a polite way!
Best Regards,
Zaroku
Having a champion face 1 top 5 opponent in 2 years is a good decision, imo
They just need to reverse the decision they made before, allowing rank 2 vs rank 5 be eligible for a championship. It should be strictly 1 vs 2 in line with other recognised forms of lineage
Your complaints about bias/magazine cover doesn't bother me really. I understand them though. Lets separate their championship from their magazine, when it comes to discussions like this
Agree with everything but one 1 and 3.
It's by time Ring started stripping guys if they're not fighting top comp and Stevenson come has been fuqing pathetic. From Bellew to Kapency.
And the mail bag is the part of the magazine where you are suppose to give your opinion. What else are they suppose to do?
