Canelo won the fight, it was close. The scorecards were ridiculous but anyway, the right guy won.
For beating Cotto, I don't think Canelo isn't getting the credit he deserves. I mean, it isn't his fault the scorecards were wild and after-all, he won the fight.
He beat a solid, and improved Cotto, coming off some nice wins. Canelo displayed some great skills, nice countering and fairly decent defense against a top opponent. He is a young kid who had a lot of pressure on his shoulders from not only his country, but the entire boxing world. He fought a good fight and truely learned from his loss to Floyd. I think we should appreciate this kids talent and praise his recent performances, before slaughtering him about a potential match-up with Golovkin.
Although I think Canelo wants all the advantages he can have, I like the kid. Lets give him props for this fight.
Max isn't preferential to Mexican fighters. He has said some really stupid sh1t. Same with Dan Rafael, he was tweeting that Cotto was winning the fight easily...lol
Before the fight, Dan Rafael was saying how much more skilled Cotto is than Canelo. Well I guess he needs to rethink that over some more twinkies.
:lol1: There is some serious haters in the boxing world. Like damn, can't a fighter get some credit for his skills and execution of them. I think it was beautiful to watch
Fat Dan is a slob. I can't believe he's had that job at ESPN as long as he's had it the way he conducts himself on twitter. Talking shet to fans and fighter and what not. :lame:
Canelo is not getting credit because his own fans discredit Cotto day in and day out. "He is a bum, he is old, washed up, kneeguel this, too many wars". Not Canelo wins (clearly in my book) and they want to give him credit for the win?
It's because those dudes aren't analysts they're fanboys. Kellerman has man crushes on boxers and when they fight he can't stop sucking them off its disgusting. Just go watch Lomachenko's last fight. And the way he was defending Rigo :lol1:
Lampley cries every time one his man crush fighters gets beaten or is going to retire. They need to replace those two dudes ASAP.
Canelo was slipping punches with ease, made Cotto look like an amateur in there :boxing:

I was impressed with Canelo's defense. He's shown some solid head movement in other fights, but he did a fantastic job of making Cotto miss a lot of those shots.
Lampley admits he isn't coming from a fighters perspective. Max on the other hand has to be the worst analyst in the game. He tries Roy over and over and comes out losing.
Roy was the only one that was saying how crisp Canelo looked and he was 100% right. I said it from round 2 on, how much faster Canelo looked and how he was even dropping his hands and just slipping double, triple and quadruple jabs from Cotto.

Nor did he clinch him or walk him back into the ropes :lol1: I'm glad some people still know what they're watching. Max Kellerman and Jim Lampley were madd butthurt cotto's shots looked slow as molasses next to Canelo's crisp, sharp counter punches and lead right hands. RJJ kept saying he was way more skillfull. Kellerman kept mentioning size and size did not play a factor "one puncher can absorb the others punches" Cotto landed like 3 clean clean shots the whole fight lol

Not all, but many of the hard core Cotto fans really insulted Canelo in the months before this fight. They said Cotto would easily outclass him and knock him out. I don't think they will trash him anymore because if he is no good where does that leave Cotto?
I agree with this. Canelo clearly had the weigh advantage, but he didn't utilize it like he could've. He outboxed and outpunched Cotto
I said it before the fight, that if Canelo wins, they won't give him the respect he's due.
"Cotto is old, done, undersized" etc....
IMO the speed difference was apparent. He was quicker, faster reflexes and really moved his head well. His defense is much better than people really want to admit.
The hate for Canelo is strange, I don't get it. I run into a ton of people that really HATE the guy...lol Maybe because I live in South Florida and there's tons of Mexican haters out here.
Now the same people rooting against Canelo, are newly found GGG fans.
No. The only people saying that now, are the guys who predicted Cotto to win big. "Cotto is too fast, too smart, and with Freddie, hes a new fighter! Doesn't matter how big Canelo is, Cotto has more experience and is the better boxer".
Now, as usual, its excuses. As it is, Canelo didn't even impose his size. He simply outboxed him. Not once did Canelo even try to trap him in the corners or on the ropes, which is what guys with a size advantage try to do.

The fight was not close. Close is 7 rounds to 5 or there about. Canelo won 9 or more rounds. If you think he deserves more credit you can start by not saying his fight with Cotto was close because it was not a close fight. Canelo won the fight by a wide margin. If you think the fight was close you are not likely to change your mind and you have a right to score the fight anyway you want but most observers thought Canelo won by a clear, comfortable margin.
People to stop making excuses for Cotto. E.g. He was never really improved under Roach, he was too old, he has been in too many wars.
Canelo was just the better man.
... I've just 'won' some 100,000,000,000,000,000 e-points here by betting on Canelo over Cotto. :)
What do you want precisely?
Props to Canelo? Then: props to Canelo!
... Then what's next?

I'm glad there are still knowledgeable fight fans and not hurt fan boys left in here.
If Canelo had Marg's mindset, he would have stopped Cotto. He gave him way too much respect IMO and made it a boxing match at mid range.
The difference in size was noticeably but Canelo hardly, hardly used it against Cotto. It is crazy... some fans will say a guy won because of size just because they saw a difference in size lol. Canelo won buy staying in the middle of the ring, countering and using efficient movements whilst Cotto stayed on the outside and ran himself out of steam. He simply out-boxed him.

I found it strange that canelo didnt want to take cotto out pretty early.. With all due respect to cotto.. Canelo seemed to test his boxing skills and stamina in this fight. Even seen him doing some leg shifts.. Crazy. Even eddie got mad at canelo for not taking it serious and cant play with a known hitter and killer in cotto

Hmm...I never said Canelo isn't any good. Everybody knows he's a good skilled fighter but size did play a big role in the outcome of this match-up. It was very clear that the size difference did bother Cotto big time just like many people had predicted before the fight.

You said it was the reason he won, and I quoted you.
The problem with this, is it isn't true. Canelo was more skilled and better defensively than people gave him credit for. Watch the fight again, they fought at mid range, and Canelo rarely pressed.
He came forward but didn't press like Marg did. When he did do it on the last round, he hurt Cotto badly to the body. If he would have taken that strategy from round 1, he stops Cotto.
It's not his nature. He won on mid range boxing, countering with the right hand and right uppercut.
Impressive display from Canelo and very little had to do with size IMO. Less than people are saying.

Cotto got outboxed in the middle of the ring.
The size only really played a factor in that Cotto's shots looked weak against a younger stronger fighter as opposed to the guys he's been facing recently.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Cotto is 35, and Freddie isn't going to teach him anything that will will do consistently in the ring at this stage of his career.
Speaking of Freddie, he's become a real annoying cunt.
I know that, but these cats were so gassed up off of Cotto beating Delvin "Who is that and who has he beat?" Rodriguez, a no legged Martinez and the already KOd by GGG Daniel Geale, that they really thought Cotto was going to be a monster vs a healthy, young, experienced Canelo.
Freddie has become a huge schit bag.
