First time i watched it i got swayed by the commentators and thought canelo won. but after watching it again, I can truly say cotto wasn't given justice by the judges. Cotto was able to land his combos and stiff jabs, but off course a 20lb weight advantage for canelo can easily absorb those punches. Still those were scoring blows that seems to be non existent to the judges eyes.
Size disparity is evident. In this case canelo was the bigger man and should have man handled cotto with his 20lb advantage. Even with that cotto landed more throughout the match. Canelo just threw the heavier blows, but less.
I can see either man winning here. No wonder cotto walked out and didn't go to the post fight press. Judges didn't give him a fair shake. It should have been at least a close score card.
I'm fine with Canelo winning, but the score cards it's just too obviously biased. Reeks corruption that is clearly influenced by money. It wasn't a lopsided fight.
Only in Vegas.
Hey bro how did you score the fight?
I can't recall anymore. What sticks is the fact. Canelo was a bulldozer with bad intentions. Nothing cotto threw affected him. Cotto threw everything including the kitchen sink and still he cant dent him. Canelo looked like terminator who had iron hands that made cotto feeling all those hard punches.
Canelo won the hurt business no doubt, but I have to say cotto landed more shots, but it's just that it didn't dent canelo.
Canelo was too big for cotto that night. But if we go the route we score points based on who connected more. Then I can honestly say cotto connected more.
Same as the Floyd Marquez fight. Floyd was 2 divisions huge compared to light weight bloated Marquez that night. Marquez was throwing combos after combos which seems to be bouncing of Floyd's protective layered skin. Hence, the perception was Floyd won it.
But if you look closely, Marquez landed more shots that night. It's just that Floyd the bigger man looks invincible since he looked like no amount of punches Marquez threw hurt him, thus Floyd won.
But in all candor, if the fight is based on who landed more and not who hurt his opponent more then Cotto and Marquez has an argument. But off course, we all know this is the hurt business, thus lethal punches that Canelo and Floyd threw that night did real significant damage so they won against smaller men.
Nothing great about that.
Watch it again cotto landed clean combos to the body and the head of Canelo. I've realized in boxing to be able to see the whole fight in a better perspective and a clearer picture of what transpired. You need to watch it again.
Cotto landed more. Canelo landed less but connected with the more heavier shots which he should he is after all 20lbs bigger.
Hey bro how did you score the fight?
The bold is a good point. Floyd schooled Canelo almost every round. I scored the fight for Canelo 7-5 though. Cotto should've tried to do more. Most of the rounds were very close and Canelo would do just enough to steal them. Good win for the champ.
I wasn't even rooting for Floyd or Cotto.
In case one wants to be sure that he will win against Canelo, he should KO him. Even Floyd got a split decision only.

Close fight, the main difference for me was that the rounds Canelo won, he did so more clearly.
To me it was kind of like Broner-Malignaggi. One guy was throwing volume with less power, the other guy was landing the harder shots but throwing less of them.
Right man won, but it's clear that Cotto was never going to be allowed to win on the cards.
I watched the Box Nation stream and they were all favorable towards Cotto during the fight, but then after the announced winner they agreed that the right man won.
I was shocked at the scorecards though. I thought the fight was up for grabs by either fighter in the championship rounds. It was not a near whitewash that the official judges scorecards reflected. I think that is the biggest discrepancy here.
I got Canelo by 2 rounds, the score cards were just outrageous! IMHO, Miguel did not do enough, you cant really win a fight with a jab and bouncing around.
Yes, great display of boxing by Miguel, his straight right was doing some good damage and I dont know why he stopped using it, and his left hook did not seem to be landing with authority. I felt like he was just working the mitts.
Congrats to Canelo, he did win the fight but honestly, the cards were a joke.
cotto nut huggers are sore losers just like their hero. cotto got soundly beaten. deal with it.
Yeah he lost but 119-109??? u don't think that's a bit too much?
Almost every rounds were close, but Canelo won most of them. I don't understand how many people had Cotto winning more than 2 or 3 rounds

Man this is really the bottom line with this fight for me before any of this scorecard ****. It was a underwhelming & disappointing fight that didn't come anywhere close to living up to the hype & expectations.
Agreed. It was a dull fight.
Bruh, Canelo lost to Trout, stop selling bootleg tickets. Trout did better then Lara did. You need to take your own advice and rewatch them.
I thought u had to clearly best the champ to get the title,, I had it a draw
I watched it, with a Cotto fan commentator, and still gave it to Canelo 9-3, 8-4 if you push me.
Damn if you want to give cotto all the benefit of the doubt, yeah 7-5.
But how in your eyes can score the fight a Draw or a clear victory for Cotto?
thats impossible.
The TS is trolling and posting this only so he can look objective when he inevitably points out bad Vegas judging relative to Floyd. Canelo won without question.
Canelo clearly won. It was not very close.
Cotto landed some good jabs, the rest were pitty-pat flurries. Canelo controlled the fight, landed the better shots and won at least 8 rounds.
