Roc Nation's big signings:
Dusty Hernandez Harrison $300k signing bonus
Cotto 3 fights, $50 million guarantee
Rigondeaux 4 fights, $10 million
All three deals are indefensible...but which one is the worst?
Upstart promotional company wanted to aim for the top level talent in the sport instead of starting with a grassroots approach. They had to pay a premium for that.
I wouldn't say Dusty's deal is indefensible. Kid had 200 amateur fights by 17 when he turned pro. Was 20yrs & 20 something & 0 when Roc Nation signed him. Dusty's one of the best least talked about prospects in the game & he might actually be their best return on investment guy RN picked up if we looked back on all this in a couple years.
If anyone has attended a dusty fight, they will see that he brings a pretty decent and loud crowd with him. sean monahan does the same, prob why he's on every undercard
Why are people so worried about how much fighters are getting signed for?? i mean who gives a fvck?
It's like welfare, if you pay them too much, they won't ever try to earn it.
You don't know anything about that?
Why you think 90% of the sport thinks they deserve tuneups all day? The market is completely trashed.
Rigo made $350k for last nights masterpiece. Compared to Andre Ward, he's a bargain.
I'll give #Rigo this -- the green gloves are sweet. He's making $350,000 tonight. #boxing— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) November 22, 2015
I don't like to wish for people to loose money or go out of business, but if Roc Nation lost a ****load of money and we didn't have to deal with a crappy rapper in the middle of my PPV and I am fine with it.
Can we please post sources?
Anyway, there must be strict stipulations there, and I really can't imagine last nights fight being part of the 4 fight deal
