Why dont WE the fans run boxing ?

What are you 12? Completely idiotic idea for a number of reasons but I will pick one. You compared it to an All-Star game, which is essentially a meaningless friendly game with no bearing on any kind financial or professional apart from maybe personal achievement and legacy of the players. They get paid a salary regardless, a fighter gets paid per fight. You think you can decide fights because you know a bit about boxing, what do you know about the business side? What do you know about booking a venue, marketing a fight, tv networks, breakeven? What if the fight you proposed loses money, will you pay for the difference? Or if the fans decide on a fight and one of the fighters is not happy with financial reward vs risk? He may never get another chance to secure his family's future, and its not your head that is going to be potentially damaged. I could probably go on for at least 10 pages but I'm going to stop there.

Think you answered it yourself why it wont happen - fans are bias. We need these sanctioning bodies to uphold integrity and with realistic rankings as do we need the world title bodies to actually do their job too but just like fans the world title companies can be very biased and this isn't me relating to WBC with Cotto instead just in general how we compare the WBO to how many Puerto Rican champs they seem to have, how they make their own rules. Their will always be a way to corrupt something no matter what we do. WTF ???!?!?!?!?! you guys believe tyhis ?

If fans ran this sport itll be dead in a year. Hell Guerrero v Garcia is possible and being called horrible though it is 2 tope tne fighters (some lists) and 2 top 6 ranked fighters (WBC). Kameda lost 2 good fights to a very good fighter in McDonnell and Kameda was all hype now. Mares has only 2 loses and is considered done. Fans would kill this sport but what a fun year it would be lol exactly!!!!!!!! they would have tried to set up rousey vs Floyd before she lost as well and called Floyd a coward for not coming out of retirement to fight her. ward would fight kov in his first fight at 175 so there would be no build up. the fans would ruin everything lmao!!!!

I was thinking about how the belts mean nothing these days and people argue about things like the ring belt and linear championships meaning more and how its impossible to unify a division and keep the belts because of sanction fees and politics etc. SO I came to the conclusion that the "champion" of each division these days is pretty much whoever the people in general thought was the best. Of course with fighters fighting 2 twice or even once a year and the best in a divsion rarely meeting, its hard to know who the best really is. SO here is what I propose. The fans decide the rankings and who fights for the belts and if they dont fight who they are supposed to in time they get stripped etc just like say the WBC. Now I know fans are bias but this wouldn't be an anonymous forum with multiple accounts and trolls it would be real names, pics and ID and say 1 year of membership and show you aren't a troll and know boxing before you can vote on the rankings. A little bit of bias wont hurt anyway, the popular fighters have always got title shots. Ok but why would top professional boxers give a crap if we strip them of there titles or who we rank ? Because we pay their purses, without us, there is no professional boxing, we just refuse to watch or support fighters that dont recognize our rankings. Why couldn't this work ? It would take people more motivated and internet savy than me to start and run it and would take years to start to work but isn't it possible ? No sanction fees, completely non for profit and we could have proper champions, rankings and title fights once again. Or at least our kids could. all the "fans" would so is argue over who ducked who and justify their fav fighters slip ups while bashing another fighter for doing the exact same thing... then they would focus on things that have nothing to do with boxing... meanwhile everything is destroyed... the "fans" need to stay where they are and shouldnt run anything

Speak for yourself. I run boxing in a way. I believe I was one of the main reasons why Rigo got shunned out of TV for a while, same with Lara and Miguel Vazquez. I stopped watching the channels that supported them. I sent tons of emails to the channels / promotional companies and next thing you know they disappear. I am sure more people did the same and we accomplished it.

The fans don't run anything and your idea has no chance of working. Boxing is a big money business run by professional business men who put up the money and take the risks. That's the way it is, was, and always will be. Fans who don't have a penny at risk don't get to run anything. The fans have an influence on boxing because if the fans don't pay for a fight or at least watch it on tv or cable then the fight will lose money. If you have been on this board long you must have noticed that fans don't agree with other fans. Take GGG for instance Some think he is the greatest and others think he never beat anybody good and is just an overrated hypejob. Same thing with Cotto, Canelo etc. When it comes to rating fighters many fans have all the logic of a garden snail.

Fans shouldn't decide or vote on anything. Fanboism is incurable, and fans would not be objective enough to come up with fair ratings, regardless of having a long standing boxingscene account. I understand we have corrupt people running the sanctioning bodies as it is, but them being overthrown by the average fan won't be much different and will probably even worse. It would like a real life boxing version of Animal Farm. Boxing would just go from sh1tty to complete sh1t.

If everyone was made to face their #1 contenders EVERY fight, money negotiations would be minimal. People couldn't become superstars that way. So basically your model doesn't provide the same financial goalpost the current system does for up and comers. All boxers dream of being the big fish at the bargaining table, calling the shots and making multimillion dollar paydays....if there is less financial incentive, less talent overall will be in the sport. Additionally. It's not enforceable. So a website of hardcores excommunicates them big deal.... doesn't mean they still can't lure a crowd of casuals to watch. No...its not possible at all...

+ there are NO clear wins if it goes to the scorecards, because "fans" think judges and refs are paid off when their guy loses on the scorecards...Look at the whole pac debacle, if a guy refuses drug testing, his fans think its a good thing. He clearly got outclassed but his fans think if he gets outlanded 3 to 1 his one shot should've won him the round. I bring this fight up because it's the most recent BIG fight in the sport which showed alot about the fans. And remember "fans" wont even watch free boxing so that they can adequately judge which fighters deserve to be recognized or support them by watching their fights. Fans shouldn't be able to choose the rankings, we have subjective views. It becomes completely unfair. It would be like deciding the rankings in football or basketball. It would be a matter of popularity. There has to be a system based on actual wins or loses in the ring, not who fans think is better... that is subjective. In the end, we would ruin our own sport. No other sport's rankings are voted for by the fans for a reason. You just cant man Yeah but boxing doesnt have a fixture and a ladder so there has to be rankings and arent all the current rankings subjective ? All-star teams are voted by the fans and they are pretty spot on arent they ? Plus dont the most popular fighters make the most money now anyway ?

I get where you're coming from but it is literately impossible. Fans can never run boxing, or any sport. Only governing bodies and commissions can. There has to be a form of centralized control. In terms of the rankings, it is impossible for everyone to be happy. The only possible way to make rankings more fair is to have a system. E.g. Who ever you beat, you take their ranking. But even then, it's complicated. The best way to improve boxing is to have ONE, centralized governing body. With ONE world championship belt per weight class, with ONE ranking system. Almost like the UFC. But that will never happen because these organisations (WBC, WBO ect) are in existance to make money. Combining all of them into one would be too expensive and they'd make less.
