Which is the best version?
Cotto 1.0
-Trained under Evangelista Cotto and defeated prime Shane Mosley
Cotto 2.0
-Trained under Joe Santiago and dropped iron chin Clottey and still pulled a win even with a nasty cut from a headbutt
Cotto 3.0
-Trained under Emanuel Steward and gave undefeated Yuri Foreman his first loss and winning a belt in his first fight moving up in weight
Cotto 4.0
-Trained under Pedro Diaz and avenged his loss to Margarito
Cotto 5.0
-Trained under Freddy Roach and destroyed Sergio Martinez and becoming the lineal middleweight champ in his first fight moving up in weight
I actually liked when he was with Steward. I thought his balance and technique was even better.
Good man.
I just imagine many will change their tune about Cotto if he loses, especially those who have been saying he's better with Roach.
nah not me..... I see the minor changes in Cotto. Sometimes, minor things can cause major problems.
Of course... the cw for this fight doesn't matter... I give credit where credit is due regardless of the fighter. If canelo wins, of course ima post on the master thread that he won, good fight, etc.... (hopefully we dont have terrible scorecards if it goes 12 rnds)

So will you give Canelo credit if he wins? No excuses, because this is the best ever Cotto. ???

I say with Roach. Roach got him to stop switching orthodox/southpaw, which would be some of the reasons for him getting tagged alot. Also, he wasn't really setting up the left hook with evangelista like he is now with roach. just imo & WAR COTTO :boxing:

Cotto 5.0 is a con. Smoke and mirrors.
Beating Sergio "Stephen Hawking" Martinez doesn't mean a thing.
This is the same guy that lost to Trout. If Canelo wins this weekend, i hope all these fans saying this Cotto under Roach is incredible will give Canelo the credit rather than change their mind about where Cotto is at right now.

What's funnier is even his roided up self couldn't beat Winky, he got two gifts against ODLH I dunno...
His last good performance was against Margarito but even at that Shanes a good fighter but nothing over the top special he didn't age well into his
30s I don't think.
You thought he lost the first Oscar fight?
Pre hand-wrap scandal.
I don't believe Miguel has changed too much in recent years, the match-making has just been more favourable. Less Mayweather/Trout opponents, more Geale/crippled Sergio.
So Shane's prime was when Canelo fought him right
Shane was prime many, many years and several weight classes ago. Canelo fought an old man looking for a paycheck.

Oh you
Maybe you should have created a thread on when Shanes prime is, I know it definitely wasn't when Manny or Floyd fought him and I still don't think it was when he fought Margarito or Cotto.
Just simple sarcasm because those people laugh about that yet don't answer the question on when Floyd and Canelo fought Shane, so how do they explain those fights
So his prime must be when Floyd fought him right

lol the fight isn't in texas canelo ain't getting any favorable scorecards from the judges
If it goes to the scorecard I don't think that's going to help Cotto at all, Canelo was capable in spurts closing the distance and boxing away with Trout and Lara something I'd highly doubt Cotto would ever be able to do that and Trout schooled Cotto to a good extent especially one of the judges think so with the 119-109 score lol.
I ain't gonna jump the gun too much I just don't think Cotto has much to offer to make Canelo struggle too much not when you've dealt with a guy as good as Lara.
