If the Floyd Mayweather who fought fought Cotto stepped in the ring with the Fernando-Vargas-version Trinidad, who would emerge victorious?

Vote.
Trinidad heavily relied on guys engaging him, it is why him getting dropped early in a whole host of fights worked out for him because it drew them into the fight he wanted.
A guy who won't oblige him at all would be problematic because he wasn't great at chasing guys down, he excelled at the fire fight. Floyd wouldn't be drawn into a fire fight most likely with a boxer puncher like Trinidad.
If Trinidad can make Floyd fight then he can obviously win, but that is much easier said than done.
The Hopkins that did that to Tito was a middlewgt, Floyd is a small welterwgt, so mayweather might be able to beat Tito to the punch but it won't be easy to move away from a guy who has longer reach & no way in hell Floyd will be able to tied Tito up the way Hopkins was able to do. Smaller Welters that Stick & move had trouble trying to do that to Tito, like Whitaker & Obar Carr. plesase see how they didn't have success trying to tied Tito up, he was just too big & strong...
Great point! Thanks!
It's a toss up. We all know Trinidad can be outboxed but he generally does great with smaller opponent's. I also think Floyd would be able to handle his power. That being said it's still would be Floyd's hardest fight he has ever fought besides 2009 Pacquiao
Hopkins provided the blue print. Tito has to get set before he throws his bombs.
Hopkins beat him to the punch, moved away, or tied him up.
Floyd fights that way. Always.

If you want to compare the two, compare the Mayweather from 2007 who beat De la Hoya and Hatton at welterweight in the same year to the Trinidad who beat Oscar in 1999.
SUGAR RAY LENRD:
I totally agree so let's compare...Mayweather fought a much older version of Delahoya (actually 8 yrs older than when he fought Tito). And Mayweather stood & traded w/Oscar. Where as we know that Oscar who is much bigger than Floyd, did not stood there & trade w/Tito. And yes, Tito did have trouble with boxers that stick & moved...but those were bigger boxers example Oscar, Hopkins & Roy Jones. Tito was just too big of a welterwgt. Oscar was able to survive Tito's onslaught by sticking & moving....Do you think a smaller Welter like floxd would've been able to? Remember Tito was underfeated just like Floyd was at Welter, and if you want to throw in Oscar's disputed desicion, then I can throw in Maidana's diputed desicion...and what have we?
Probably because "old" Floyd was closer in size. Prime Floyd, who beat Gatti at 140 was just to small. His technical advantages are real, but they are not enough to compensate for the size disparity.
Floyd was fighting full time at 147 by 2006.....The oldest version of mayweather should be 2009 vs Marquez or 2007 Mayweather not a 35 year old version
It's weird how Floyd critics love to compare him in his old age to past fighters in their prime. Floyd has been out of his prime for nearly ten years. For a more fair comparison it should be 2006 Floyd vs 1999 Trinidad. For example the Floyd who fought Baldomir vs the Trinidad who fought De La Hoya would be an interesting match up. I think Floyd takes it. Trinidad always had problems with buys who moved and moved. Floyd's movement and defense would give Trinidad fits.
Good post, though Trinidad was never even close to losing to a guy smaller than 5'10 1/2. Movement isnt all u had to have against Tito, u needed the reach too.
Dude, I said "The only advantage Tito has against any version of Mayweather is Power and size". I am not diminishing his other attributes, but his other attributes are not advantages over Mayweather as he also has superb conditioning and even more championship experience.
Don't ask a question and then not like the answer you receive.
Have you seen Tito's hand speed? Mayweathers style is all wrong for fighting a guy like Tito, well, his 2012 version anyway. Staying in the ropes trying to dodge a guys punches is the wrong way to go about against a patient, conditioned Tito.
Why is it always an old Floyd?? he was 35 in 2012

Also, did you forget that Trinidad beat Pernell Whitaker? Dropped him too. In an interview Whitaker said that was his toughest fight.
Sweet pea was 63 years old
Is this thread a joke? lol. Trinidad easily beats down floyd unless floyd drains him like Canelo or makes him use the sparring gloves Maidana was forced to use or wait 5 years after Trinidads prime like he did with Manny.
TriniWRAPS was nothing without his bricks!
He should have been DQ against Vargas... how many times did that brick layer low blow Vargas??? Disgusting!
TriniDUD was just another Juan Ma.
Mayweather by brutal K.O.
The butthurt is so strong in you.
This myth has been debunked countless times by the man himself. Richardson said Tito didn't have "bricks" or anywhere near the same situation as Margarito. It was just that the commission didn't approve the manner in which he wrapped his hands. It wasn't and isn't illegal in every state, Richardson clears this up in every interview hes asked about it. People who bring it up are rejects lol

Mayweather by brutal K.O.I apologize to you. I am a Trinidad fan but if you seriously believe he is guilty of all these evil things you entitled to your believes. Vargas didn't exactly fight this super clean fight against Trinidad. He hit low himself and held Trinidad with his right hand while pounding away with his left. It was a rough fight. You are a Canelo fan so you are OK with me but I got carried away defending Trinidad.

Mayweather by brutal K.O.He never used illegal wraps and was never fined a penny or suspended for a minute for using illegal wraps. You are disgusting for falsely accusing an all time great. You don't know what the fuc you are talking about .Trinidad was better than Vargas and knocked him out without bricks. The rules of boxing call for all boxers to wrap their hands in front of a member of the boxing commission and a member of his opponent's team making it almost impossible to cheat. After the gloves are on they are signed and sealed and can't be tampered with or the seal is broken. I guess you are too ignorant of the rules to know that. You are one of those fans who can't stand it when your favorite fighter loses so you come up with some BS excuse.
