"So I’m writing to you today to wish you a fond farewell. Truth be told, I’m not unhappy to see you retire. Neither are a lot of boxing fans. Scratch that. MOST boxing fans. Why? Because the fight game will be a better one without you in it. Let’s face it: You were boring. Just take a look at your most recent performance, your last hurrah in the ring, a 12-round decision against Andre Berto. How to describe it? A bust? A disaster? A snooze fest? An affair so one-sided that on one judge’s card Berto didn’t win a single round? Everyone in boxing knew Berto didn’t have a chance. I think more people watched Family Guy reruns that night than tuned in to that pay-per-view bout"
Still, De La Hoya's words echo those of many of Mayweather's most ardent critics. He writes that "I took on all comers in their prime," and points out how he always took risks. He said Mayweather never did.
"Another reason boxing is better off without you: You were afraid. Afraid of taking chances. Afraid of risk. A perfect example is your greatest “triumph,” the long-awaited record-breaking fight between you and Manny Pacquiao. Nearly 4.5 million buys! More than $400 million in revenue! Headlines worldwide! How can that be bad for boxing? Because you lied. You promised action and entertainment and a battle for the ages, and you delivered none of the above. The problem is, that’s precisely how you want it. You should have fought Pacquiao five years ago, not five months ago. That, however, would have been too dangerous. Too risky. You’ve made a career out of being cautious. You won’t get in the ring unless you have an edge. Sure, you fought some big names. But they were past their prime. Hell, even when we fought in 2007—and I barely lost a split decision—I was at the tail end of my career. Then later you took on Mexican megastar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, but he was too young and had to drop too much weight"

Do you not undertand that people rewrite history all the time when it comes to Floyd?
Not only did he duck Pac then, which we all know is bull****, but they're all probably rewriting history and soon will say that Manny fully agreed to being tested randomly and repeat it til they believe their own lies. It happens. If anyone cared to do some research they'd simply know better. However, it seems like they don't.
Yes, the Mayweather haters are revisionists.
DLH talks sh*t too when it comes to Mayweather yet never seems to have much to say about his ex-partner, Mosley, who took steroids and EPO to beat him?!
is it me or is the fact team pac ruined the first negotiations invisible or unkown by most people? like why do people say Floyd ducked pac in 09 when pac and his team admitted that it was their fault???, then went on to not only take the test for the fight in may but demanded those same exact test in previous fights? I understand flyd contradicted himself at times but whats the disconnect on that topic?

Oscar is right. Don't come back, woman beater.
The woman beater has no real boxing fans, his so called fans don't know shyt about the sport, they're just ex convicts (like Larry), rapist, and ghetto thugs like Trayvon

I don't disagree with much that Oscar said about Floyd. But Jesus, does he come off as a bitter betty here. He should just shut up about Floyd.
Actually, of all boxing should shut up about Floyd until he announces his comeback or gets arrested again.
Its better for the sport to move on.
How the *****es over there in the far east homie?

That's one viewpoint, but not everyone sees it the same way. Some people see Floyd as the one ducking Pac. Others see it as Pac ducking Floyd. Others (like me) view it as both sides making it difficult for "negotiations" to occur in the first place, so the fight couldn't happen until many years afterwards.
none of them ducked eachother bob arum wanted to make as much money off pac as he could before that fight, floyd also didnt mind getting money before it happened, its business... not to mention boxing websites and sports channels, blogs, etc all made money and drew interest to their sites or shows off of the rival, but at the end of the day... the fact is that team pac walked away from the first negotiations, both fighters were in their prime... how can u say floyd ducked him when if he took the test the fight would have happened??? then to make it all worse he made all that big fuss and end up taking the test 6 years later (even demanded it in some fights)... pac man would have taken the fight at anytime IMO but arum kept him away from floyd... its just reality
the bottom line is team pac walked away from negotiations, trash talk has been a part of the sport for years and should not ruin negotiations. people constantly say Floyd ducked him in 09 and waited 6 years to fight him this is what my point was... its just not true but is somehow thrown around with no resistance, weird if u ask me

Both sides ruined the negotiations. Floyd was constantly accusing Pac of PED-usage (like that'll encourage someone to work with you). And then Pac, instead of proving Floyd wrong, decided not to cooperate and thus made him suspect of PED-usage anyway.
