I doubt this fight will happen.
I know Wilder's management want Glazkov because they feel he's no threat, but if Glazkov is smart he'll wait for the bigger payday against Klitschko in 2016.
And losing to ATG Klitschko is no disgrace, unlike losing to Wilder.
Haymon's pockets are deep and lined with cash these days.
Glazkov would have to wait too long for Klitschko. I think he'll take the offer.
I think its a better matchup than a typical Wilder fight but I really have been disappointed by Glazkov. I had him losing to Malik Scott and Cunningham plus Rossy arguably beat him.
He's limited and I think he should have several losses as well, but he looks good on paper. Undefeated, top 10 HW, Olympic bronze and World silver medalist. Plus he's got the Eastern European thing going for him.
Sure he looks good on paper, if that's the angle you're going for. But if Wilder wants a genuine challenge that will help him towards Povetkin then I'm not sure how well Glazkov fits the bill. He's not terrible by any means, and I won't knock Wilder if he chooses to fight him; in fact quite the opposite. But unlike someone like Chisora, who looks bad on paper but is actually pretty damn good, Glazkov provides only limited threat.
That's nit picking though.
Wow.
I wonder what he's getting paid. Got to be pretty good to risk his shot against Wlad.
He had to do something to stay on the radar. I don't think it would be in his financial or professional interests to do yet another dud fight in Alabama when he almost got KO'd last time.
And Glazkov is a lot easier than Povetkin. A lot. He's not really that much of a threat.
It's about the bare minimum as a worthy title opponent. Wilder probably wins it, but it will be the best measuring stick to date.
This fight will say a lot about how Povetkin-Wilder goes.
Wilder by KO. I really want to see how well he keeps distance and out of range, both fighters have the same reach, "75 and are very similar fighters.
The last time Wilder fought a guy with that short of a reach was Gavern, '76. His last couple of opponents have had much longer reaches. Wilder needs to dominate with his jab.
glazkov lacks fire. hes just too medicore. but i dont mind this fight.
wilder will fight a ranked fighter and glazkov doesnt sit on his ass to a wladimir klitschko shot.
What's interesting here is that ME would be negotiating with Haymon when they're not the mando
That was my first thought too. Is Czar still with ME? If he is and ME are talking with Uncle Al it could be a good sign for future negotiations regarding matches between Kovalev and Haymons LHW stable.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Glazkov.... nearly forgot about him, but then that's cos he's very forgetable. A bit of a step up for the Bomber but still very winnable.
Glazkov is a step up in competition, but like you guys said before I think he is average at best.i watched a couple of his fights, like agsinst Rossy and Scott and I think he lost both of those fights although awared the decision. He also doesn't seem to have a lot of power compared to other guys in the division.although he seems to have a solid chin,i still think Wilder is going to catch him at one point and eventually stop him.
This is a significant improvement from the garbage he has been fighting. I expect Wilder to win but he better not fight like he did his last 2 outings or he will be in big trouble.
Probably but he's still much better than the last two scrubs Wilder fought
agreed. i think he beats both. still, those guys were big and had very solid chins, and styles make fights.
glasgov looks like his chin is fine, but we'll see how he handles the power coming downhill. he's also going to give up about 8-10 inches in reach. his arms arent' all that long for a pro boxer. i think he's going to get absolutely killed.
Glazkov is very well thought of by the boxing establishment although I'm not sure he really is worthy of all the hype. But universally he is thought to be a top 10 contender. And an excellent warm-up for Povetkin..
how do you figure? hes better than wilder's last 2 opponnets but still very mediocre and unpovetkin like
Same I don't think this is a good prep for Povetkin the fights that would be good for getting you ready for Povetkin would maybe be a Chisora or Pulev type of fight not a guy who hardly has any snap on his punch and wont want to engage inside action.
He can pull the upset off If he doesn't get clipped clean, its a hard fight for both men its a step up from Wilder but I still think its a waste of time...
Wilder should be fighting Povetkin stop time wasting in other words.
While Vyacheslav Glazkov is a decent opponent and a major step up in competition compared to Wilder's last two voluntary defenses, many feel that he struggled and even lost to Steve Cunningham in their recent bout and Cunningham isn't regarded as a hard hitting puncher like Deontay Wilder.
how do you figure? hes better than wilder's last 2 opponnets but still very mediocre and unpovetkin like
He has similar dimensions and is from the Russian amateur background.
Glazkov for instance also helped Mariusz Wach prepare for Povetkin, in sparring.
Jennings was Wilder mandatory after Wilder beat Stiverne. Up to now Glazkov was Klitschko's mandatory for one of his titles, I guess Wilder is paying Klitschko back, eh?
Stealing one of his mandatories.
