400k ward is the bigger draw and would bring more than 150k people
400k, Ward is the nighter draw and he brings in 150k? That would mean GGG would be the bigger draw....did I miss something here?
I think it will do better than people here think. The general public is not dumb, two guys in their prime both undefeated, one guy has a lot of hype the other is a proven top p4p fighter. I would think between 300-500k depending on how much time and money they spend on the buildup.
probably not much, GGG is increasing his marketability with each fight but Ward isn't fighting. If the fight happened tomorrow i would say 200-300k. if Ward builds up his reputation again by fighting a few more times and GGG unifies his division and then fights Ward i would say probably 500-600k
Now a lot of people saying that GGGs PPV did 97k, but multiple sources confirmed 150k so i am confused... who is right ESPN, fight hype, ****** or the other source (i believe it was someones twitter account?).
The wack sh1t about Ward is that he went and got hurt again. It's like he's giving ppl reasons to sh1t all over him. He's not exciting to watch anyway so that's always gonna be a problem. He had promotion issues and went extended periods without fighting. On top of that, the injury bug is always stinging him. Golovkin on the other hand hasn't had and doesn't have any of those problems.
i think ite does at least 400 to 450 this would be a fight that hits main stream cause espn would even talk about it. this fight is way bigger then peolle realize
I can't believe how low people are saying it will be. I honestly think it would do at least 1 million buys but we probably won't find out.
It may sound crazy but boxingscene comments give a good indication on how big a fight would be, everytime there's something controversial relating to Ward-GGG the comments go viral in a way i haven't seen besides May-Pac.
People are spoiled by Manny/Floyd draws. I was in that group until I recently took a hard look at the actual numbers. Take a look at some recent PPVs that did NOT have either Manny or Floyd:
3-Dec-11 Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito II 600,000
15-Sep-12 Sergio Martínez vs. Julio César Chávez, Jr. 475,000
12-Oct-13 Timothy Bradley vs. Juan Manuel Márquez 375,000
8-Mar-14 Saúl Álvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo 350,000
7-Jun-14 Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martínez 315,000
12-Jul-14 Saúl Álvarez vs. Erislandy Lara 300,000
17-Oct-15 Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux 150,000
Make no mistake about it - Floyd & Manny were head and shoulders above anyone else when it comes to PPV draw power, everyone else, even people who had fought as B-sides to those 2, are not great headliners.
This is why I don't see Ward/GGG becoming a huge draw. If Canelo and Cotto, who had previous PPV experience and fought Mayweather draw 300k buys, there's no chance in hell GGG/Ward draws more than 250k.
So if it does 200k-250k then wouldnt that make Ward a decent draw??
No it means the matchup is a draw
That's pretty simple stuff Larry. You can start calling fighters a decent draw when they are able to sell PPV with matchups that are actually pretty awful. Look at Floyd-Berto/Guerrero, Manny-Algieri, Canelo-Angulo, or when they are consistently selling good PPVs.
Ward would be a draw if he could sell even despite awful opponents, but we know he can't even sell with big name ones. GGG isn't a draw yet either, but 150k against a complete no-hoper without a name actually isn't that bad if you're being honest with yourself. It's an OK start.
The reason GGG-Ward would do better than Lemieux is because we know Ward is a good fighter. A lot of people would want to see how good GGG really is, as he would be the focal point in that matchup.
