GGG fans say Canelo is the same size as Golovkin because he weighs 170 on fight night. Rios is a WW weighing 170lbs tonight. Is he big enough to fight Golovkin? Dont forget the height as well!!! Diego corrales and ggg are the same height!!!

Canelo is heavier and stockier than GGG, weights more on Fight Night and 30 days before the fight. But he is too short and has short reach. it's the fighters choice how their body is largely composed, but boxing is based on weight classes, and if this was a 2 hours weigh in like it is in the lower levels of pro boxing, we'd see someone like Rios HAVING to fight at 160 or risk dying. they're pro athletes, don't get why they wouldn't stay in shape and close to your weight year round, even if only to make the next camp easier. this day before stuff gives rise to the likes of Orlando Salido fighting loma in a 126 fight at 147! haha, or chaves Jr blowing up 20 over night. not sure what the solution is as a lot of people probs got brain damage from trying to boil down too far. maybe your weight class is determined by your average weight in a camp?

In the ring, 170 lbs is 170 lbs but if he wants to kill himself to make welter it's his choice, you saw the result.. He drains himself down to have a size advantage over his opponents, best believe that his "inhuman" punch resistance at 47 won't be the same at 54 since fighters there are naturally bigger and hit much harder, plus Rios's power is not enough to have an impression on a real 154 pounder. He doesn't have the skills to fight bigger stronger men his style only works on smaller physically weaker guys so that he can walk them down and break them down physically and mentally while being very busy, this style didn't even work at 147, so he's pretty much forced to fight at 147 since noway in hell he can make anything less than that. Good decision to retire, he can't make the weight no more and a move up in weight will probably get him killed, he should just forget about boxing and look for something else to do and I wish him good luck with that.

Rios is clearly having issues making 147, he should move up to 154 to fight Canelo before considering retirement. They're the same exact size, 170lbs, no difference whatsoever. No difference in muscle or flab, water weight, all the same thing. And Rios is coming in at 147.2, what now he's gonna make his own weight class of 147.2? The hell? Canelo vs Rios, winner fights GGG at 155. All three of them are the same size so if Canelo and Rios can make 155, so can Golovkin. He can lose some muscle mass no problemo, no issues. Let's get this tourney started.

It doesnt seem to be working out well What weight do you think GGG would be able to cut down to if he was 25 years old? 155? Canelo can't make 154, so he's a middleweight. He's able to cut down the weight regularly because he's 25. Along with his star power, he's made his own division doing it. Why people want to defend that, is way beyond me. Regarding Rios though, he looks drained whatever division he fights in. If he actually weighs 170 in the ring then damn, he's literally killing himself to make 147.

No he actually walks around at 185, so he is 10 pounds more than GGG lol. Triple G walks around at 175. Rios is a fool, what happens with a guy like Rios is they think oh im moving up so I dont have to starve myself much I can eat an extra meal, thats why after 3 weight classes he still has to drain himself, he eats more thinking he can eat more because he is moving up in weight, all that does is make you put on more weight walking around.

Canelo looked pretty lean at mid 160s. I think he could be in fighting shape at 160lbs. In the ring Canelo and GGG are similarly sized - I think Canelo just drains himself more. AKA Canelo is big for 155 and GGG is small for 160. Rios doesn't look lean at any weight. He is not anywhere near Canelo in terms of body composition and would not be able to fight at MW.
