I think that the Manny-Floyd debacle (the bull**** ****-tease and the terrible fight) coupled with PBC's awful mismatches/poor product and HBO's limited annoying, output has left a very bad taste in people's minds, and they are largely turned off by boxing. I know this is the case from my point of view.
The Floyd vs Berto fight and GGG vs Lemieux fight showed that people aren't going to be milked good money in exchange for poor quality product anymore.
The Cotto vs Canelo fight will not have much money spent on it. I believe that PPV boxing is dead. Floyd milked it dry.

In other words, it is Mayweather and Al Haymon's fault that GGG's PPV did so poorly and Cotto/Alvarez's PPV will not sell as well as expected.
What a crock of s...t! GGG's PPV did poorly because he is not a big attraction and he was fighting a nobody. Alvarez and Cotto's PPV won't do more than 500 or 600,000 because neither fighter is as big of an attraction as Mayweather.
Trying to place the blame on Mayweather and PBC is beyond retarded, but not at all surprising on this message board.
Even if it does about 600k, that's not bad at all. Wasn't De La Hoys PPV average around that? Pacquiao's not an awful lot higher, although i suspect the average has been boosted after the Mayweather fight.
People put too much stock in PPV doing like a million buys. These guys aren't Floyd or Manny, it's a different ballpark. Anything above around 700k would be a huge success for this upcoming fight in my opinion. Canelo probably brings around 350k going by his pervious numbers besides Floyd, Cotto probably similar or less again not including fighting Floyd or Manny. Then a bit extra because they're going against each other and assuming people who bought their previous fights have a bit of a crossover into each other, then i think realistically you're looking at 700k to be a success, anything above that would be a bonus.
I swear ya'll blame every thing on Mayweather..i guess he is the reason for global warming as well
Well, the man does own two Bugatti's and a Koenigsegg, if we are going to keep it 1000.
This fight is gonna be huge because people know there gonna actually get a fight and not the running hugging Floyd does. Both fighters are willing to exchange, and both fan bases are passionate
Isn't that what they said about the fight last week? Hagler/Hearns 2 they called it. The fans said "Nope!".
You don't mention an actual number doe. Whats your number that you are getting from your wrong anticipated number?
I think it'll land somewhere between 800k-1.2M. So If I got "we anticipate" type numbers that suggests this is doing what...maybe...500k-800k or there abouts?
That might be a tad ambitious. My guess is in the 550k - 650k range, maybe a little more. Anything over 700k is a complete home run.
SMH at some people thinking that 600k is a poor number. 600k is a fantastic number, and achievable by fewer than 5 people in the sport........

It will do just fine. The other two struggled after the May 2nd debacle but now we have the real goods!! Cotto vs Canelo. Puerto Rico vs Mexico. Everything will turn out great.
Yeah, GGG's card goes double frankincense and myrrh, and now it's Armageddon for everybody else's PPV sales, the PPV model as a whole, and of course, it's all Mayweather's fault.
God bless NSB.:lol1:
:lol1: :lol1:
It's one of the funniest things I've seen. A grown man actually retiring from the internet because the fight tanked, after weeks of bragging about the PPV. Imagine if he actually lost a fight.
Oh he's here. As an alt *****ing and moaning. What a loser that guy is.
They're really upset over Golovkin's numbers :lol1:

I see nothing but thongs on this board these days :lol1:

This thread is so dumb.
So let's go to school.
Oscar-Tito left a lot of people unhappy.
Floyd-Oscar left a lot of people unhappy.
Floyd-Canelo left a lot of people unhappy.
Then Floyd-Pac left a lot of people unhappy.
None of these fights effected a following fight and the numbers.
Floyd-Berto and GGG-Lemieux are not PPV fights. There was no build up or hype for either of them.
Cotto vs Canelo is a PPV fight. It's a fight that has been hyped up with big wins for both fighters. Both fighters fan base wanted the fight to happen. Hardcore and casual fans wanted the fight to happen.
Result of this will be around a million buys.
