Sorry but in what reality does the #1 P4P fight tuneups on the undercard? And GGG can't move up for one fight to take on a guy regarded as high as Ward is. Then neither of them are deserving of it.
Ward should just be declared P4P GOAT. Seriously, what kind of fighter fights a monster like Rodriguez after a year lay off or an all time great legend from across the Atlantic? This is unheard of. Ward has done so much, I think he should just retire. What else does he have left to prove?
that's not the point of p4p. yes he's won a lot of fights in a row but how has he won them? by clinching nonstop in almost every one. clinching is illegal. why would you say someone is the best fighter when they have to cheat? he's the exact opposite of p4p in reality. if he wasn't so tall and big he wouldn't be able to clinch as well and would be beaten easily. just like postol. postol is effective because he cheats and fights in a division where he's bigger than everyone else. so does wlad. how is that p4p?
2 questions
1-who should be p4p #1
2-who is your favorite fighter of all time
Is he currently active? Yes
Do I believe he's the best p4p talent right now? Yes
Did he defeat his opposition fairly easily? Yes
Did he pass the "eye test"? Yes
Would he be number 1 on my list? No
There's a guy by the name of Kov who's done better while Ward hasn 't been as active and moved ahead of him, IMO.
Forgive me for asking, but do p4p rankings start from three years ago to the present day? I don't quite get the question here. We've all seen Ward's talent against the high quality opposition. What does exactly 3 years ago have to do with p4p rankings again?
Nope. Ward shouldn't even be in the top 10 p4p until he faces a top dog in his division and proves he still has it. For all we know he's out of his prime, but we can't tell because he has fought no one of note in years.
Wlad is a gigantic heavyweight so I'm not even saying he needs to be p4p #1. He has cemented himself as a great heavyweight but some people have issue with those two distinctions overlapping.
I'm just trying to decode the seemingly completely random algorithm used in p4p rankings.
- Floyd retires
- Everyone on the list is shuffled 4 or 5 spots between fights even though with Floyd at the top, that wasn't really necessary and in theory everyone should have just moved up one spot
- Unranked Ward reappears at #2, poised to become the greatest fighter in the world if Roman loses
- What got him there: 9th round TKO Paul Smith who weighed in at cruiserweight and has lost 3 in a row, in Oakland
Ward at #1 will be utterly embarrassing. I doubt even the people who bought Ward's #2 slot foresaw the possible consequences of Roman losing.
If Mayweather reappears in two years and fights a good opponent where do we put him on the P4P list or do we even put him -- point is time is a little factor in the equation.
please name me the 4 division champs currently in boxing. pac(who is shot), cotto(who prob will lose soon and is a catchweight fraud) and broner who just had a great win and won all his belts legit. so for me its broner. don't hate on him just cause you don't appreciate slick boxing. if winning 4 belts was so easy everyone would do it.
:frown: That's enough internet for today.
dude they were ranking wlad so high as a gag. it was a joke. obviously he's not a p4p fighter. have you ever seen him fight? he clinches nonstop every single fight. he has almost no boxing skill. yeah hes tall and can throw a jab but boxing is more than that. its about moving, defending, etc...and he can't do any of that. all he can do is clinch which is illegal.

Name a current fighter who has been on top longer then him with no losses

I'd like them to explain why Wlad dropped from where Ward is right now (poised for #1) to #6 between fights but I suppose according to Ring's list, if we removed Ward who is obviously a paid advertisement, Kovalev (#3) would be at #1 and Roman would drop to #2.

broner for me. 4 weight champ. who else has done that in boxing that is still fighting and isn't shot? no one!

And i agree with that
Ok who would you make #1?

Well if he's no.2 currently then the most logical thing to do would be to move him to no.1 (if Roman loses). I think most have Ward as their no.1 guy anyway.
why would anyone have ward as #1? it's been 4 years since he's fought someone good and in the last 4 years he's spent all his time trying to get easy fights. truax, retired pavlik, satison, zac dunn? are you saying that once a fighter gets to #1 he's allowed to fight bums for the rest of time and he will still be #1? that system seems flawed. very flawed.
Isn't it a bit embarrassing considering the state of his career and how mediocre it looks compared to everyone else on the list? Yet he'd be #1.
Ok who would you make #1?
