Chocolatito has fought in 3 divisions so far: Strawweight, Light Flyweight and Flyweight.
He has been a champion in all 3 divisions.
He is the current Ring/Lineal Champion at Flyweight.
He was ranked #1 fighter by Ring mag and others in all 3 divisions he was in.
He is currently undefeated at 43-0, which gives him the aura of being unbeatable.
He has 37 KO's in those 43 wins, which means few were competitive with him.
He has several wins over quality opponents:
Yutaka Nida, who was #1 Strawweight at the time.
Katsunari Takayama, a Top 10 Strawweight at the time.
Juan Francisco Estrada, current #1 ranked Flyweight.
Edgar Sosa, current Top 10 Flyweight.
Rocky Fuentes, a Top 10 Flyweight at the time.
Omar Salado, former Top 10 Light Flyweight.
And he's about to fight Brian Viloria, so you can't say he only fought bums.
Most importantly, he passes the eye test. He looks good. He fights good.
Dan Rafael, Teddy Atlas, and Max Kellerman have to be the only guys who actually watch boxing at ESPN.
they actually have several boxing writers.
brian campbell, kieran mulvaney use to be there.
plus ESPN is international, maybe the foreign boxing guys have a vote too.
wlad is at a disadvantage in P4P discussion.
in a debate where the purpose is evaluate fighters without considering size, wlad is handicapped because he depends on his size.
dan rafael argued for wlad for ESPN rankings. he was alone and shot down.

Chocolatito is one of the finest boxers I've ever seen.
Hes deserving of p4p no.1
Him, Kovalev, GGG, Rigo and Ward (when he's actually fighting) are the best boxers in the world today
disgisting......
wlad gets no respect. NONE.

the arguments against are too strong, guys like Wlad, Kovalev, Bradley, Pavquiao, Rigondeaux (possibly) and even Canelo have all beaten better opponents and at times, might have looked better doing it. They have all had better title reigns or longer title reigns.
As much as I like watching the little guys fight, there isn't much quality south of featherweight, too many top guys have records like 13-3 or 22-5. So, Gonzalez being no.1 doesn't make sense.
argument so strong against that ALMOST EVERY SITE has him #1 P4P?
there's quality little guys. it's just they don't stay/last there.
at least the little guys are all young and in shape.
how many 40 yr. olds and fat slobs have wlad fought?
Maybe it hurts their manhood that the best fighter on the planet is 112 pounds.
roman walks around 125-130?
he'd still spark out most of the guys here under 200.
maybe even a few guys 200 lbs.
Some people, if not most, don't seem to understand the concept of POUND FOR POUND.
I'll try to explain.
P4P is who is the best right now, who wins head to head, if everyone was the same size.
It's not who is GREATEST or has BEST RESUME.
Example:
If Roman was 6 foot 7 245 lbs. and you translated his power, speed at Flyweight over to Heavyweight, would he beat current Wlad?
If Wlad was 5 foot 4 112 lbs. and you translated his power, speed at Heavyweight to a Flyweight, would he beat Roman at 112?
Lol at a mini wlad one-twoing and clinching his way to a flyweight title.

Good post. I think p4p cannot be underestimated as it has been monetized, (unless there is a placeholder like Choccy), but as for legitimacy when it comes to assessment of who would beat who in some logic suspending mental exercise, it's just as you put it: fun speculation.
Unless someone comes along with an agenda and is trying to over emphasize the p4p h2h analytical aspects of the p4p concept. That's when things get laughable for all the wrong reasons.
You.
Yes.
He's a placeholder.
Is Viloria your brother or something?
God still loves you, bro. All you need do is look around you to see evidence of intelligent design. And all you need do is research the obvious correlation between those who suspend morality and their levels of faith. There are outliers, of course, but the overwhelming majority of faith based people also uphold morality. The reality of that is those who claim religion who do evil are fake in faith anyway, or worshipping the wrong thing. Your choice.
We don't know what Roman is yet. If he keeps winning for the next 3-4 years, given that there is some serious talent at 112 now, and at the top of 115 and 118 he could face, he may stick.
He could also lose to Viloria. That's a real fight.
Time will tell.
People losing their minds over a mythical list which has absolutely no direct impact on anything of significance.

Chocolatito got these boys going insane and questioning the meaning of life.
People losing their minds over a mythical list which has absolutely no direct impact on anything of significance.
People used to be more literal is one argument that can be made. The Heavyweight champ was then what he is now: literally the best boxer in the world. All the rest is fun speculation but everyone isn't the same size and there is no magic thing that makes it so. That they've monetized P4P the way they have is really great for bank rolls, but at the end of the day, when people are calling Floyd or anyone else the best of this era, it's not literally true.

your point is stupid.
power balance? thru p4p list? LMAO
american bias? that's why put a nicaraguan #1? LOL
retard reasonings.
f.u.c.k. jesus.

tyson fury is trash bro.
viloria has great chin. his 1 "KO" loss he was just gassed. it was his last fight at 108.
viloria problem is he gasses late rounds. all his losses, he was up until he gasses.
I think that since Wlad is old now, he is there for the taking. And I think Fury is the type of big, young fighter with good power that can catch Wlad with a good shot at this point and put him to sleep. Do I have Fury winning that fight? No, I think Wlad wins. But I think that Wlad is in for a tough fight because he is now going to be the smaller, shorter guy and will be against a younger guy who can punch. Wlad will not be dwarfing anyone in this fight, or using his jab as a type of "stay away from me midget" type of punch. He is going to fight a huge, tall guy now and Tyson is not a bad fighter.

Blasphemous to say that about 2FAST Fury.
I think that Wlad is in for a bigger challenge with Fury (If that fight ever actually happens now) than Gonzalez is with Viloria.
Fury is 26, 6'9", big guy, good power, undefeated.
Viloria is 34, 5'4", decent power, has several losses already, has been stopped in the past 5 years, and is most likely at the tail end of his career.
Man I hate the hype that guy is getting though. Trust me, you don't want to see Viloria knock his teeth out more than me. You think you do, but you don't. Ifi'm not working that night, I'll tune in through a stream when that fight happens, just to see if Viloria can KO him or beat him.

americans is ppl from USA.
wlad didn't look good jennings fight.
i think wlad loss points because he's hwt.
ward because 1 tuneup fight last 2 yrs.
i think GGG and Kov split votes.
that's how roman got it. kinda flukey.
viloria >>> tyson fury

Nicaragua: Central America.
Wlad is from Eastern Europe, dropped down to #6 for no reason, no loss, no inactivity, no refusal to fight the best (Probably even scheduled in the second best match after Cotto-Canelo).
Reason was someone else doing the list.
