People need to realise they're 2 different fighters. PBF was a hungry fighter, a BEAST and wasn't scared to brawl it out if he had to. MM is a worried fighter who's scared to get hurt. He's only worried about making $ the safest way. Can u imagine a star wide receiver who scores all the tds, but whenever he catches a pass he runs and drops to the ground so he doesn't get hit becuz he's scared of getting hurt.
you have no idea how many people hated my ass at ESB when i used to be a Pretty Boy Floyd cheerleader
how things changed
probably not as many that hate you here now that you are the VP of the Pacmaniacs.
Its not really fighting at a weight class higher than your natural weight, when you move everyone one of your opponents up from a lower weight.
Typical hater stuff, who did Floyd force to move up except Marquez? Hatton had a belt at 147, Baldomir was a welterweight, Dela Hoya was light middleweight, Mosley was a WW, Ortiz was a WW, Cotto was a 154, Guerrero was a WW, Maidana also, Canelo was 154 and Pacquiao was a champ at 147 since 09.
The only guy that was coming up to fight at 147 for the first time was Marquez, all the rest were already title holders at 147 or 154, ur argument is really invalid.
Compare fight night weights and u will find out that Floyd was outweighed in all his fights from 2006 till the Pac fight (except Marquez) in some cases he was 15 lbs lighter than his opponents, which means he shouldn't be fighting at this weight.
I could only imagine a Money Mayweather without any hand problems. You could tell in his fight against Berto that he wanted to go all out but his hands wouldn't let him.
Yea he really was trying to let his hands go

Watched Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce do just that during the Rams' "Greatest Show on Turf" years.
Just saying.
Money may fought almost all his career at a weight class higher than his natural weight class, so sometimes, though not always, he kept it safe and didn't take unnecessary chances. Money May is smart, he felt he's past prime and he knew his power has diminished plus he's fighting bigger stronger guys, so he felt that fighting toe to toe would always favor his opponent, so he fought his fight at his own pace and nobody could change that, which is a great accomplishment.
PBF was a young man fighting people his size, he was faster and stronger than money May and hit harder than him, he also felt the need to give the fans a show so he got out of his element and slugged it out a couple of times to gain popularity, but even when he did that he still was always criticized and never got treated fair by the critics, Bob Arum and HBO, don't forget that he was also an active full time fighter, Money May took loooong layoffs between fights.
Don't act like he fought safe in all his fights as Money May, Dela Hoya, Hatton, Mosley, Ortiz, of course Cotto, Canelo and Maidana, these were all fights where he came forward a lot and didn't move so much, had he had a bit more power he would've stopped Cotto and Mosley, but I enjoyed these fights nonetheless.

What a bunch of slurpy bullsht. From Mayweather's own mouth "I'm moving up to 135 because I can no longer make 130" another, "I feel much stronger and faster at 140 than 135 because I'm not draining myself"
Mayweather at 147, can't make the 143 catchweight.
Floyd, like all other fighters, should fight at a weight that's significantly lower than his fight night weight, most fighters rehydrate to 10-15 pounds between weigh in and fight night, Floyd rehydrates 3-4 lbs at 147 and almost nothing at 154 or even 152 cuz he never weighed in more than 151, which shows that by today's standards he should be fighting at 140 so that he's not much lighter than his opponents on fight night, which in a physical fight like the Maidana fight could make a lot of difference.
Do ur homework on Floyd's rehydration weight till the Pacquiao fight before u call bs on my post. And just because he moved up from 130 and 135 doesn't mean he has to fight at 147, his optimal weight by today's standards is 140, and Pacquiao should fight at 135, not making the catchweight was imo intentional cuz he didn't even try to shed off the 2 lbs and he rehydrated to like 149 or something, which means he could've made the weight if he wanted to, but he just didn't.
I was watching a re-run of his fights from day 1 three days ago, and i wanted to make a thread about it but was too busy. And to be honest i didn't want the thread to another one of those TBE bashing/loving threads. Whilst watching i was thinking to myself that am watching TWO totally different type of fighters here lol. What was amazing to me was the earlier version of him was more exciting than the latter version of him but that version didn't get the recognition that the latter version got. I found that weird.

Pretty boy Floyd was a fighter, while Money Mayweather is a business man. I personally preferred Pretty boy Floyd, though both have done things in boxing we have never seen before. For example, PBF would throw some punches, as Jim Lapley and George used to say, the boxing book has yet to record and name those punches. On the other hand, Money Mayweather has taken the business side to a whole different level with his recording breaking ppv numbers. At the end of the day, whatever his personality is, he has given boxing and the boxing world a whole lot.
The difference between the two-one is a young man that thinks opportunities in the world are based on talent and hard work. The other is a grown man that understands opportunities in the world are given when you generate huge amounts of money for yourself and others.
So when you say age do you mean that physically he has changed? I dunno, I think plenty of people become more conservative with age and it's hard to not see that in Mayweather's actions. Plus given his monetary success and the fact that since his first retirement he genuinely seemed like he didn't enjoy boxing quite the same, I really believe he isn't the same fighter mentally.
I mean just seeing him in that fight with Berto... his killer instinct is all but gone man.
It's physical and as for enjoying himself, against Berto that might have been the most I've seen him enjoy himself. He was all smiles every time he made Berto miss combinations. That and he made a pretty good attempt to get Berto out in the 12th. That said I believe his left hand was messed up and I'm just glad he's calling it quits or at least I hope.

Killer instinct is looong gone, now he doesn't worry about wearing u down and stopping u late like he used to, he just wins every round, he just tries to outpoint his opponent, which is totally normal given the hand problems, the reduced balance, the weight disadvantage and lack of motivation or incentive, he did it his way and he made it work for him, this is a sport just like any other sport, the objective is to play the way that makes the game the easiest for u and to get the victory, and at that he's the best, however he also came forward and tried to wear his guy down a couple of time recently like against Cotto and Mosley, but again due to lack of power at 147 and 154 at this age he couldn't take them out.
Only difference is one had to be more conservative because of age, that's it. Mentally, same exact fighter.

There was never any PBF, just Money, and he started out as a welterweight aged 30ish, and he's still in his prime....
.......according to some posters.
I like both to be honest but obviously at the lower weights he opened up alot more so in terms of brawling yeah id take pretty boy floyd for excitement for sure.
He had power at 140 and below. Especially at 130 and if you watch any of his earliest fights the commentators are talking about him as a power puncher which seems pretty strange today. His prime physically was at 130/135 and he probably peaked overall around 140. His hand problems and moving up in weight changed his strategy and he stopped even trying for the knockout.
