whats with all these Mayweather questions and "facts" ?, kid needs his own sticky so he can ask all the Mayweather questions and post all the fun facts he wants.
It's like that's all he post, cluttering NSB with Mayweather agenda threads.
If you want to just point to the last portion of his career and say that he held too much, that's fine, I don't have an argument against that, but I don't historically consider Mayweather to be a clincher and I'm not his biggest fan. I look back at his career and say that he was a very good inside fighter and that's a large part of the reason that he was successful because he could stand right in front of people and make them miss. That was his defensive genius, not tying someone up every time they got close to him and as he aged and lost some of his physicality that's what he did to adjust. He stopped fighting out of clinches because he wasn't several steps ahead of the competition anymore and he started to initiate them more, as opposed to someone like Roy Jones who never really adjusted his game to deal with his age and suffered because of it. But that's literally been the last few fights and if you have almost fifty that shouldn't hang over them all imo.
I think of clinchers as people who did it excessively. Klitschko is a clincher. There was a fighter years ago who was really good named Frankie Liles, he was a clincher. Guys who literally had no interest in developing a game, defensive or offensive, which wasn't at straight arm's length. That's not Mayweather and even recently, he hasn't been that bad.
great post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boxing is very much "what have you done for me lately".
Lately, Floyd has clinched the mess out of people. No, he hasn't always, but what's your point?
Maidana 2 was an abomination. It undid the goodwill accumulated from like 10 other reasonably entertaining fights. It was THAT bad.
Lol I didn't call you a nut hugger, I said you were in awe. That wasn't a jab at you. Not being able to cutoff the ring is not a disgrace, it's pathetic but not a disgrace. At that point the person is still trying to fight, clinching is the opposite of fighting. I agree with you regarding what he said after, manny was a sore loser.
I work from home myself so this banter passes the day quickly, lol. All good man. :beerchug:
LOL all good bro!
OKAY MY BAD MISUNDERSTOOD YOUR POST. lol @ in awe... why cant I just be a fan? all these other fan bases accept their fighters with their flaws and all but for some reason we are nuthuggers and all kinds of other names because we support and like Floyd as a boxer? same with this IV talk, pacs fans supported him through refusing test, post 20 paragraph responses to prove why he declined and all but we are the crazy ones for still supporting Floyd thru extra vitamin c? Lunging in is a disgrace? so is being a professional boxer and not knowing how to cut off a ring... then complaining the fighter who has been labled a runner since moving to 147 didn't stay still for you to hit him.... this was said by a professional boxer after a professional bout. now that's the real disgrace!
im at work and just feel like going back n forth so just go with the flow...

Where did I call him an excessive clincher? I said lunging to clinch is a disgrace, and it is. It's a cheap tactic, period. You accept it because you're in awe of him but the majority of people who watch boxing do it to be entertained. Plenty of other great boxers never needed to do it, you act like its a necessity to win. I've said repeatedly Floyd is one of the best I've seen in all my years, I wouldn't say that if I was being as biased as you think. The reality is, he has cheap tactics that most people don't like.

a disgrace????? really? well when is your professional fight so you can show us how its done, all of the greats had their tricks man lol. so ur telling me u never went to a boxing gym and clinching was taught to do in certain situations? I understand that when you don't like a guy any and everything he does is made out to be worse than what it was but ive watched, participated, and trained in boxing pretty much all my life and Floyd mayweather is not an excessive clincher, there are dirty things he does yes, but to label him and excessive clincher shows me u just don't like him, which is okay. its obvious Floyd is past it and in his latter days has declined in the offensive category so as a person that understands boxing I understand why he does what he does to win. I would love to see you guys in the ring and do it better than these professional fighters you criticize daily I swear it would be hilarious to see

Come on Larry...
hell you guys wont stop! we have no other choice but to respond to some of this ish, thing is a lot of us Floyd fans recognize pac as an ATG and are willing to leave it alone and let him be. but for the past 6+ years you guys have poisoned the boards with anti Floyd chatter, which is cool. but now hes retired and the chatter has worsened so why not show us what u guys are talking about... u all went crazy when he said he was better than ali and said they shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence, but failed to realize ali was the actual excessive clincher. so fk it lets talk about clinching. when does Floyd excessively clinch? lets talk boxing lol
Lunging to clinch your opponent , when you're out of position, is acceptable? Clinching should occur when your hurt or it's unavoidable. Being gassed is also acceptable but what Floyd did in maidana 2, and other fights, is a disgrace.

wow a poster that understands!!!!!!!!!!

mayweather doesn't clinch very often but he does use his elbow. The only time you see him clinch is when he's out of position. I suppose the people that criticize him for excessive clinching would rather see him stand there so paquiao and everyone he fought can get the opportunity to hit him more.

tying up is cheating. floyd fans still won't admit this. things like elbowing guys and ducking below the waist are also illegal. when you want a fighter to win so bad you will find a way to pretend he's not cheating when he clearly is.
goodness gracious this is crazy
Just remember anything floyd does will be exaggerrated and imbelished because people hate him so much. If he clinches 6 times in a whole fight, haters will post on here be clinched 30 times. What I find very interesting is how similar floyd and Ali fought. I went back and watched 6-8 Ali fights and 6-8 floyd fights and Ali clinched more than floyd does and actually moved around the ring more as well. Funny how no one ever says Ali clinches or "runs" supposedly. It's all double standard bull**** by haters. Yet ali is called the greatest right? I even remember when I was young how a Sugar Ray Leonard was hated on, said all he did was run etc. Hilarious how over time the truth is revealed and greatness is realized.
It doesn't matter what floyd does, he will always get hated on and his amazing career and accomplishments downplayed by jealous clowns. Beating Pac (easily) only made him hated more. 10-20 years from now floyd will be considered one of the best ever trust me. Just like many of the greats who got hated on and made fun of during their careers for the same cookie cutter bs floyd hears now. Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard etc. were all labeled with bs as well.
Include more recent ATGs like Roy Jones ('ducker') and Sweet Pea ('boring') on that list too.
