Andre Ward vs Gennady Golovkin is BETTER than Mayweather Pacquiao. Yeah I said it. May/Pac was casual fan, media BS hype. If you study the style clash, you would realize that Floyd was all wrong for Pac from day one. Pac doesn't even commit to his jab. Rule #1 in solving the May Vinci code is to posses a strong, accurate jab.
Ward vs GGG on the other hand? Is the best matchup between p4p fighters since Chavez vs Whitaker. It doesn't get better than this. It's the best fight that can be made in boxing right now.
Since that is the case, why are people so against this? Do you not want to see the best fighters in the world battle for the #1 spot?
Not sure if you are joking, but how did he make Abraham come to 168? AA was already a top 5 SMW and a Super 6 contestant wth four 168 fights.
semi-joking, but AA was a MW brought into the Super-6
Wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'd have Ward as a heavy favourite and I think Ward-Kovalev is a lot more interesting. Don't see why it would be a priority for Golovkin either. The Canelo-Cotto winner is a better fight for him in almost every way.
ring jsut rearranged its p4p list in the most perplexing way ever, swapping guys who should have remain unchanged since nothing has really happened with them and slipping ward back to #2 for is amazing run of a couple stay-busy fights in the past half decade
im starting to think they just draw cards out of a hat
The ring dropped Ward from their p4p list because of inactivity, then put him straight back in at number 2 after he beat Paul Smith!
Ring rankings have no credibilty at all
Ward should focus on 168 and then go to 175. He is in a more respectable division. First he has a fellow Olympic Gold medalist to take care of in IBF champion James DeGale, which would be a tough fight for him. He also has a WBC title to take back from Bodou Jack. After that, hopefully Kovalev would have already KO'ed Stevenson and claimed The Ring/WBC championship at 175 where Ward can fight him in a huge fight between the two best undfeated fighters of the sport, #1 and #2 P4P Ward and Kovalev respectfully. Both are 28-0 right now so let's see, hopefully we see them fight at 30-0, that would be cool.
Let Golovkin stay in his weak division, getting wins over Lemieux, Lee, Saunders, Jacobs or Quillin.
I'm excited about Ward vs DeGale, Jack and Kovalev. I really hope these fights happen.
Ward and Golovkin need to fight first.
Ward shouldn't go to 175 for Kovalev yet because it's harder to go back down then it is to go up, and this would put him at a disadvantage if he wanted Golovkin later.
Ward and Golovkin need to fight first. I think they should fight at a catch weight of 164. After that, Ward can move up and go for Stevenson and Kovalev.
both should just focus on their own divisions ward aint leaving 168 so he should just clean up the division again and golovkin will probably stay at 160 and clean up his division both are getting older so if they wanna make the fight happen they better do it soon but egos play a role i personally think golovkin should go up in weight to fight ward but if ward wins i dont think he'll get the credit deserved as ggg is reallly a 160 pounder
That was many years ago. Today GGG is rank way above Ward on the pound for pound list of ESPN, RING MAGAZINE, BOXREC, BOXING SCENE and all other such lists. Read today's pound for pound lists and weep. Ward's not there anymore. You don't stay at the top of the pound for pound list today for fights you won five years ago.

Andre ward isn't a big enough name!!!! Just the top p4p fighter recognized as the best by everyoneThat was many years ago. I'd love to see GGG knock mr. clinch out at 168 pounds. Little Ward doesn't want to fight GGG. He just wants to offer to fight GGG when GGG already has a signed contract for a middleweight championship unification fight with Lemieux. Ward used to fight decent guys many years ago. He has turned into a guy who almost never fights and when he does fight it's a cherry pick. Ring, ESPN, BOXREC and Boxing Scene all rank GGG well above Ward on the pound for pound list because he is clearly superior.
a top P4P fighter yet you can ask 50 sports fans who he is, and there's a great chance all 50 have never heard of him
that tells you right there "who he is"
he's good, he's not a name
I know who Andre Ward is, yet I don't even know who he is.

i can't speak for other people but as a boxing fan, my thoughts on this are:
i do want to see GGG vs Ward
the problem is, people who don't like GGG for .... let's just say obvious reasons, are the ones saying that if he doesn't fight Ward (a guy who's last fight was two divisions above where GGG fights at), it's a blatant duck
it's not a ****ing duck when you decide not to fight a guy two weight classes above you, otherwise we can claim Floyd ducked Golovkin, Bhop ducked Klitschko, it's ridiculous
the GGG haters actually base this "ducking" nonsense on a statement that was made a while back (the 154-168 comment by Abel Sanchez), but when GGG's team clarified the statement, the GGG haters wanna pull the 'NO NO NO, NO TAKE-BACKS' because that statement fits their race-driven agenda, rational thought goes out the window
"GGG will fight Froch or Chavez Jr at 168 but Ward at a catchweight, that's a duck!"
Which is completely absurd. Froch and Chavez Jr (prior to his KO loss) had something that the Ward fight didn't, a worth-while risk:reward factor. The reward (a very nice purse) was worth the risk of losing.
Losing to Ward brings a much smaller purse to the table, so the risk might not have been worth the reward. Remember, Ward is obviously a big 168 who fought his last fight at LHW which is, again, two divisions above GGG. The Risk:Reward has to be there, it's not something you can argue unless you wanna paint yourself as a clear hater.
Again, I want to see the fight but if it doesn't happen it isn't a duck, that's ridiculous. Who the **** is Ward? He's a great fighter, but you need more than that for a guy two divisions below you to say it's worth the risk.
Much better poll. There is nothing for GGG to gain by fighting Ward.
Nothing for Ward to gain by beating GGG either. Hes smaller, from a lower weight class. According to many Ward/Floyd/Broner groupies, GGG isn't even all that good. So why are they pressing for this fight so much when there is so many more challenges at 175 for Ward?
he's ducking light heavyweights when he's in the same division now while calling out a middleweight
how is it even a topic
expect him to have another legal battle with his new promoter as he turns down every opponent they suggest
This.
Make Ward Kovalev, it's a much more realistic fight.
