At the same time, remember when welterweight had Oscar, Shane, Tito, Quartey, etc.
Now we got, what? Guys who don't want to fight eachother.

and NICHOLAS WALTERS if he makes weight again and gets his damn title back. we need that axe man in 126
I thought he looked damn good last night. He was much smarter in there than I thought possible from him. A good fighter that I look forward to seeing again.

He's alright, his stamina is really impressive.
He finally has a good win so I'll give credit where it's due, I just don't want him to go fighting my pizza delivery guy again.
Why so negative? He's a solid fighter. He has great stamina, he clearly takes his craft seriously and as much as I wanted to see him in with Rigo, dude still deserves some respect. He has good ability and does well in his style and he comes to entertain.
I'm lefthook2daliva and I endorse this post.
What else you want?
Can't everybody can be Sugar Ray Robinson.
Yesterday morning I would have definitely said "selling", but I was really impressed with what he did against Mares. I thought for sure Mares would expose LSC, but the kid looked good.
I'm buying, if he ain't the best at 126 then he's top 5. That in itself means you must be pretty ****ing good. He completely dissected and easily figured out Mares like he was ten levels above him. He made Mares look completely inferior and on a much lower level. Never seen that before. I know Gonzalez knocked him out but he may have just been caught clean? We don't know for sure.
The hype before was unwarranted given his competition level. I give him all the props in the world for beating Mares though. He never had to show a jab before and dug himself out of the hole early. He should have a long good career, but agreed that I don't see him going past B-level.
see thats where i disagree what hype are u talking about? he was always considered not great but a very talented entertaining fighter
I don't know why people are so shocked at the jab and skill Santa Cruz had last night. It's always been there. Seeing it against his best opponent is a good thing but he didn't show any skill last night he never did before. I guess people drastically underestimated him.
I dont think he is Special, but he's a good fighter and will beat plenty of good names and probably lose to some as well if he continues to fight at a high level.
You could say that about a lot of great Mexican fighters. But, just because someone isn't boxing slick doesn't mean they aren't special. Sometimes, a measured, disciplined approach is enough to be a great fighter.
I feel the same exact way.. He lacks smooth boxing technique, has what's seems to be no real power, lacks speed and has some tendencies that will soon be exposed by a greater fighter. Although entertaining because of his work rate, I wouldn't beat on him against any current featherweight champ and I don't give him much of a chance against the more well rounded Super Bantamweight champs. Rigondeaux would easily out point Cruz, as well as Lomachenko... Walters and Russell Jr T/KO Cruz... Frampton and Quigg I see close competitive fights but against any of the elite, it's a hard lose for Santa Cruz.
LSC is a good fighter, very good at times but he lacks the physical gifts that makes someone special. He isn't particularly quick, dynamic or powerful but so what? Not everyone has to be special. He still has it in him to be one of the better featherweights of his time.
