I asked a Mexican the other day and he sad Sanchez hands down,I said what about Chavez and no lie he said Chavez fought a lot of bums..I was shocked
As a Mexican American I would agree with the statement to some degree. Unlike Sanchez, Chavez has a resume that resembles many of the past greats... Often fighting "Bums" a very long time before seeing a title and continuing to fight "Bums" while waiting for the contender... Sanchez did it the other way fighting on title defenses.
Personally Sanchez showed the promise of being the best Mexican Fighter of All Time!!! Chavez although had an extensive career, he lacked truly great wins and in most eyes got more than a gift or two in his career.
People should definitely look at quality > quantity when looking at someone's resume...
quantity sometimes doesn't mean **** in boxing.....
Brian Nielsen was 49-0 in the heavyweight division before his 1st loss ffs!
Sanchez has the better wins but Chavez has much more quantity.
Sanchez probably would have gone on to be greater than Chavez. Very sad that he left us so early because he was a great fighter.
This right here.....
Personally imo, I'll take quality > quantity any day of the week :D
R.Mayweather(2), rocklidge, laporte, rosario, camacho, taylor, a robbery vs sweet pea & then lost to randall...
again... sanchez win over gomez is better than all those wins/and that one draw robbery.

Lol why is it better? Because he's your boy? :lol1:
Lol this dude really just asked 89 fights against who?

You are quite the idiot aren't you :slap:
Javi just proved my point. Your opinion that Mexico has more great fighters is just that, an opinion. PR is much smaller and has more world champions. More is not better.
what's all this about Sanchez or Lopez even being comparable to the great Chavez? Seriously, El Grande Campion has more championships, longer reigns, more fights, more wins, more KOs and superior resumes. Sanchez gets romanticised cos he died early and Lopez is the hipster choice, where guys are like "ya know, I'm gonna name this tiny fighter who only real fans would have watched"...not realising that Lopez is quite well appreciated in this day and age and is no longer the counter/cool choice.
sanchez win over gomez tops anything that jcc has done... 89-0 right against who? His best win being camacho maybe.
If they have produced better fighters, why does PR have the lead vs Mexico in championship bouts?
Like Ass said, more is not better.
More, is not better.
The only one being *****y here was you, so I gave you a taste of your own medicine "son". I'm not saying "disparaging" things, I'm calling a spade a spade. You haven't addressed any of my points or arguments and instead just opted to throw insults around and refuse any kind of debate with me.
You still haven't answered my question, what win does Chavez have that matches wins over undefeated Wilfredo Gomez and Azumah Nelson?
You're misreading my tone, man. And, I've addressed the "what win does Chavez have" question. I named them. Go back and read them. Also, I like Azumah Nelson, but i don't think a win over him is some sort of grand arguement.
Ortiz definitely deserves more credit. He is the forgotten one in these conversations.
JCC has to be the best, though I feel like if he lost the fights he should have lost to Taylor and Whitaker then we would see it differently.
Ortiz has the best resume, I don't think that's arguable.
Even skill wise he's argubably best.
An absolutely great fighter, amazing fighter.
Best Mexican is Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
Finito Lopez and Salvador Sanchez get honorable mention, but Chavez fought everyone in 3 divisions, and dominated.
Best Puerto Rican is Wilfredo Gomez.
I would give honorable mention to Carlos Ortiz and Wilfredo Benitez.
Mexico has simply produced the better fighters, it's a fact. You don't have to like it or agree with me, that's the beauty of truth, it remains regardless of opinions.
