controversy aside, Haymon now has access to, at featherweight, the WBC champion (Gary Russell Jr), the IBF champion (Lee Selby), the wba champion (Jesus Cuellar), and the WBA champion (Mares-Santa Cruz winner). lol

Got Mares taking this. Leo is cool but his past string of opponents is not eacly preparation for a fighter who has fought at a higher level.

cuellar is the regular champion, i don't understand how they are fighting for the belt that walters lost on the scale. would love to see the winner vs jesus, i really think he can take any of them out I think Mares beats Cuellar easily, but Santa Cruz vs. Cuellar would be a good scrap.

It's gonna be a great Saturday of fights and this is by far the one I've been craving for the longest and the one I'm most excited for. I think Abner will win but both guys are true warriors and this fight will be a great war.

Didn't see this coming, but... http://www.wbanews.com/boxing-news/santa-cruz-and-mares-fight-for-wba-title So, with one day before the fight, a few hours before the weigh in, it is announced that Santa Cruz-Mares is for the vacant WBA Featherweight Super World Title. My understanding was that a fighter becomes the WBA Super Champion by: Beating the existing WBA Super Champion (Think John-Vetyeka) Holding another title and winning the WBA title Being upgraded from regular champion (Think Golovkin and Uchiyama) But, sanctioning bodies will do as sanctioning bodies do, I guess. :dunno: Not really fair to Jesus Cuellar, but it is what it is. On the topic of the actual fight, what's your pick? Another mind boggling decision by the WBA.

This fight deserve its, and it makes it that much more appealing than it already is. For those that have ESPNDeportes, they will be doing a weigh in special in exactly one hour. WAR LEOOO!!!! :boxing:
