This will not be a slugfest, it will be quite boring, a tactical fight. I think Cotto will win a slightly competitive 8-4 decision, with the judges attempting to rob King Cotto but not having enough to work with.
Canelo just doesn't have the footwork to get to a top class boxer like Cotto.
Lara doesnt have the punching power Cotto does. canelo will be very careful the moment Cotto lands his first blow and traping cotto in the corner will mean hard shots coming his way. This will be a fight that will be fought in the middle of the ring as both guys like to operate in the center.
If this fight happens in the middle of the ring, it will mean Cotto will be there to get hit, and that will not bode well for him.
That would be the worst strategy he could choose. I like Cotto, but if I were rooting for him that would be the last thing I would want to see him do. He will eventually be pulled into a war because it is not in him to run like Lara, or hold like Floyd.

When did Canelo become this monster that ko people? Cotto is more than capable of out boxing the flat footed Canelo.Canelo can knock a fighter out with one punch with either hand. Cotto can knock a fighter out with one punch but only with his left hook. Cotto never knocked anybody out with his right. When it comes to KOs Canelo is double trouble and you will see that when he flattens Cotto.

Whoa calm down!!! Look I am a Canelo fan, and Cotto is my 2nd favorite fighter, so I do have some level of objectivity. Cotto is a serviceable boxer lets not make him Floyd,Lara, or Rigondeaux type boxers.
I think Cotto will have to try and box, but at some point I believe Canelo will be able to force him into fighting because Cotto has that natural instinct, and won't be able to help himself.
Cotto previous 3 performances were a bit of an aboration due to careful matchmaking and weight stipulations.
Cotto has been able to open up his offense without having to worry about anything coming back at him with power. We'll see how he reacts when he eventually has to think about power punches coming back at him. Canelo will invest in body work and try and break him down.
Cotto will try and box but be pulled inot a war, and it will end up being a battle of will.
By all means go bet a bundle on Cotto if you really believe that. You can make two dollars for every dollar you bet if your right. You see the odds makers who handicap boxers for a living have installed Canelo as a solid 2 to 1 favorite to beat Cotto so they don't agree with you. Cotto is a big underdog. The smart money is on Canelo to win and I am betting on Canelo. By the way Canelo is his name, not ginger. Only haters call him ginger. He is a red head. Don't they have red heads in Liverpool? Do they they call them gingers? No, they don't. People with red hair, gingers as you call them, originally came from the UK.
I never once said the word ginger. lol

Cotto fans are delusional as they come. :lol1: Again I ask, when did Cotto become this master boxer with elite movement and footwork? Was it vs Trout? Margarito? Pac?

I think the key for Cotto will be to set up the left hook and counter Canelo when he throws his big right hand. If Cotto is able to counter Canelos right on a consistent basis Canelo will have no weapon at all in this fight. Cotto has a very hard hook to read since he is short and sometimes you dont know when Cotto throws his hook if its a jab to the body, a hook to the body or a hook to the head. sometimes Cotto basically sets it up by jabbing to the body a few times throwing a normal hook to the body AND then doing throwing a left hook from a weird low angle when even i watching from my couch think is headed to the body but then it explodes to the head. That is how he set it up against Sergio, rodriguez and geale they all tought the hook was headed to the body so they lowered their right hands. His hook has a deceptive weird angle but he sets it up from the start. That is not something Cotto used to do in the past and it seems like a key for all the KO since hes been with Freddie.

Since when has Cotto been hard to hit? I see Canelo walking him down all night. And Cotto hasn't been deep into the later rounds since Trout. I can see Cotto gassing out if he runs all night. Canelo by late stoppage.
Canelo will be the best opponent for Cotto since Mayweather and it says a lot. I do agree that Cotto looks better under Roach than before, but his success also is based on smart match making:
Delvin Rodriguez = bum, Martinez = cripple with a big name, Daniel Geale = catchweight + coming from first KO in his career.
Sometimes I am thinking - is Cotto really improved a lot or its an illusion? We will see it on November 11.
It's an illusion. You said it yourself, it's the matchmaking.
It won't be Cotto's footwork that will trouble Canelo. It will be the jab.
Miguel has the better footwork, but he's far from elusive.
Canelo was able to trap Lara on the ropes, Lara moves much better than Miguel.

With Freddy, Cotto has gone back to his search and destroy style, doubt he changes it for this fight.
Actually if you watch it closely cotto is actually boxing outside of the Rodriguez fight. Roach has him circling away from his opponent strong hand and coming in and out with combinations. That is hardly search and destroy but the good thing is he is finding openings and landing strong punches based on the timing he has and the exchanges he creates as opponents trie to counter him when he jumps in.
Same dude who couldn't outbox Trout? I don't see it happening. Don't get me wrong he's a live dog, but he's not outboxing Canelo. Under Freddy he's a more aggressive fighter, although much better balanced, which will leave a lot of openings for counters and work on the inside.
He can also study the Floyd fight all he wants he doesn't have the tools to pull off a performance like that just like Canelo can't pull off a Margarito type of performance.
Why do we need another Cotto-Canelo thread? Can't f*ckin' posters use the master thread?
Calm the **** down jesus christ. Relax, this is a boxing forum, not the European Economic Forum.
