Top #2 P4P = Mega Fight... But when next?

So your p4p number one (ggg) has exactly ZERO quality wins? You sure have low standards I don't see how you can be ranked in a top 10 p4p list without facing, let alone beating elite comp. Makes no sense to me.

1993: Whitaker vs. Chavez 2015: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao That's the only two times since the Ring started tracking the list. Hopkins vs. Jones would have been the 3rd around 2002 but they couldn't agree on purse split. Trinidad/De La Hoya should be in between those two IMO!

Pound for pound is just a matter of personal opinion of how good someone THINKS a fighter is. It can't be proven and is seldom agreed on by all fans or boxing writers or rating places. Lots of people didn't have Mayweather and Pacquiao as 1 and 2 when they fought. Right now I think GGG is the best pound for pound with Gonzalez 2nd. Lots of posters think GGG doesn't belong in the top 10 pound for pound but I make my own choices. Gonzalez and GGG can never fight each other. Canelo won't be considered pound for pound number 2 by the majority no matter how well he performs in the Cotto fight. It was just a coincidence that Mayweather and Pacquiao were both fighting as welterweights and were both rated by many as the 1st and 2nd best pound for pound. It will probably never happen again. There are so many good fighters in so many different weight classes that the odds are very high against the 1st best and the 2nd best fighting in the same weight class. ...or Ward vs Kovalev. But lets be real, I think Roman, Rigondeaux, and Lomachenko all have potential to be up there. In fact, Roman is already up there, and Rigondeaux would be as well if not for the fact that it's been about 9-10 months since he last fought. So I could see a potential Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko fight being that, unless they fight now when Lomachenko still doesn't have a wide number of wins under his belt. i love me some rigondeaux, but he looked a bit old against the japanese fella. he's a tiny guy and he had one of the longest and most robust amateur careers of all time. he's not going to be on top for much longer.

Mega fights only happen every 20 years or so Usually a Mega fights happen every 10 years or so, but I agree that the top #2 P4P meet much less frequently than that.

Not for a while. Chocolito is #2 and with fights with Viloria, Estrada and Inoue potentially on the table there is no looking back assuming he wins them all.

ward and kovalev are in most people's top 5; if they keep winning and others drop out, then they could plausibly be #1 and #2 sometime soon. i kind of feel like lomachenko-rigondeaux should be a fight between the #1 and #2, but they just don't have the pro credentials at this point
