If khan wins another title at a different weight class Im sure he is in going to be in the HOF. He has beaten many former world champions like,Paulie, zab judah, madaina, barrera, devon alexander, , chris algeri and julio diaz. Will he get the nod if he beats someone like brook or thurman?
His professional boxing career is severely lacking.
He doesn't belong in the same sentence as the any of the modern greats like Lewis, Calzaghe, Naz etc.
I'm not saying he belongs in the same sentence as Lewis or Calzaghe. I'm saying he deserves his place in the British boxing hall of fame. Look at all the other names in there who managed to get in.
Olympic silver medalist at the age of 17 and unifying the light-welterweight division, he has a really high profile and has done a lot for British boxing at grass roots level such as building a boxing academy/gym in Bolton where multiple British champions train. That's enough to give him a place in the British HOF and he's only 28.

I don't think that was his most prestigious fight, Garcia was a replacement for Peterson and widely expected to lose.
The mission statement on the site reads as follows:
That's a little different, and reason I bring it up is because everything about the HOF about is very subjective, standards for entry are not clearly defined.
The only consistent standard I see is that a certain group of people, relatively small in number, think a certain fighter merits it, which can often come down to whether those individuals like a certain fighter - and as we know one person's HOFer is another person's bum - Arturo Gatti a case in point. And when you see some of the people who are actually doing the voting...
I totally agree!
One shouldn't have to rely on quotes issued by the E.D. to determine the basis for induction. It's criteria should be clearly and specifically stated so that those visiting the site or the HOF museum, will have a better understanding of how and why certain boxers are there.
While certain boxers\inductee's place in the IBHOF is quite clear, others seem to have been gifted the privilege and that causes quite a bit of confusion. Because when ever you start lowering the bar to accommodate situations, you also undermine and lower the standard.
Based on what?

Maybe if he starts getting quality, exciting fights. In his most prestigious fight he got knocked out by Garcia.
Beating Brook or Thurman for a belt would be good, but one victory isn't enough to get into the HOF. Avenge his defeat to Garcia or Peterson, defend against some top guys.

I don't know why this site jacks up statements phrased a certain way.

Zab Judah was a champion at 140 and the undisputed champion at 147. His legacy is greater than Khan's.
The British hall of fame? He wouldn't even get into that.
Maybe the British Amateur Hall of Fame.
Why wouldn't Khan get in to the British hall of fame? if John Conteh, Jim Watt, and Lloyd Honeyghan made it, Khan makes it.
I suppose it depends on what he does between now & winning that title, but I don't see it. I think his place in history is kinda at that Zab Judah level right now. I suspect he'l end up in that sorta spot by the end of his career.

He's in the British hall of fame right now. If he wins a title at welterweight, then it still won't be enough for him to be in the world hall of fame. If he unifies the welterweight division and beats a huge name like Pacman on the way to doing it then you could make an argument. Haters would hate on him anyways.

Out of curiosity and because I was shocked to read your statement, where does it state that Khan is in the BBHOF??
Here's the official site ...................

I mean that based off his current career alone right now, if he retired, he would be in the British boxing hall of fame.

Berto is taking Khan's place in the Hall.
Where are those quotes taken from? I ask, because I don't see it on their site.

Everything is always next year with Khan. And when next year becomes now he moves the tough fights away for another year. Khan used to take risks years ago under Roach. Since his lose to Garcia 3 years ago and his move to Hunter Khan has yet to fight a dangerous welterweight. Why can't big talker Khan who now claims to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world fight Thurman or Brook in late 2015? Maybe because he still doesn't want to fight a dangerous welterweight. Feed him Porter? Hell Porter would knock Khan out and it's almost certain KHAN WILL NOT BE FIGHTING PORTER IN DECEMBER. If Khan fights Porter I will come hear and say I was wrong about Khan.
Yeah I don't see him fighting Porter either and I'm not sure titles are his chief concern otherwise the Brook fight would have already been made.
Based on what he has said I think Khan is targeting two big fights (or paydays), one in the US (hence the May/Pac talk) and the other when he returns to the UK to fight Brook - a fight he says will always be there.
He probably sees the likes of Thurman/Porter etc as high-risk, and low-reward.
Maybe if he starts getting quality, exciting fights. In his most prestigious fight he got knocked out by Garcia.

Im guaranteeing u he will fight for a title next year. They are prolly gonna feed him peterson or porter in december and then a big fight in may or june. would love to see brook fight in december thoEverything is always next year with Khan. I'm not even commenting on the complete fantasy of the Khan-man getting into the HOF, because it would be an absurd attempt and laughable.
But, I think (Judging by this thread) many do not know why some guys get inducted into Boxing's HOF. Guys like Floyd and Manny will get inducted during their first year of eligibility, because they both have had outstanding careers.
Professional boxers have to wait five years after retirement to be eligible for election into the Hall of Fame. Inductions are handled by members of the Boxing Writers Association of America and an international panel of boxing historians. (Wiki)

These are the days of 4 world titles per weight class and usually there are 1 or 2 weak champions in each weight class. A fighter like Broner who is nothing special can win titles by fighting the worst champion. Broner has won titles at 130, 135, 147 and will soon beat another weak champion at 140 for his 4th different weight class world title. Also 4 different champions per weight class means there are lots of mediocre ex world champions for a guy like Khan to beat. Losses, and KO losses in your prime help keep you out of the hall of fame and Khan has 3 of those. If Khan deserves to go to the hall for winning a version of the welterweight title then Broner has already done enough to be a lock to be in the hall when he retires. Broner is a three weight world champ while Khan would only be a two weight class world champ IF he wins a 147 pound title. Khan has 3 losses, 2 by KO. Broner has only 2 losses and has never been stopped. The short answer is no, winning a 147 pound world title doesn't get Khan into the hall. Unifying the welterweight title would get him in the hall but that is much harder to do.
