I mentioned this before in a pretty quiet thread so I figure it's worth asking.
Whoever wins this fight, would it become the best win on either guys resume?
Personally, I believe it would be Miguel's best win if he can pull it off. However, if Canelo wins I don't think its his best win, Lara would still be the best win on either resume IMO.
Thoughts?
He wasn't though, so you're talking theoretical and I'm talking about the reality of the situation.
Reality then....was Martinez 100% when he fought Cotto? Simple yes or no answer.
Congrats on Martinez for what he accomplished in his career but you're not counting the problems he had prior. He should of been stripped for inactivity.

4 year MW champion.
No belt king of 155?
It's not contest Martinez was the better win.

So you're saying a guy coming off a surgery and inactivity for over 14 months is a better win than Canelo?

There is no way Trout beat Canelo.
I really don't get how people scored that fight for Trout. The Lara fight was extremely close, the Trout fight was clear IMO.
Shot past prime fighters with names: Carlos Baldamir, Kermit Cintron, Shane Mosley, Alfredo Angulo, James Kirkland, Lovemore Ndou
Undersized welters: Matthew Hatton, Alfonso Gomez, Josesito Lopez
Should have lost: Lara, Trout
Lost: Mayweather
Canelo's best win: Ryan Rhodes
So yes.
So Floyds best win has to be Corralles then, thanks.

The reason I believe Lara to be a better win is down to him being the worst style match up for Canelo. I also believe Lara would beat Miguel comfortably.
Name wise it would be Canelo's biggest win, but I don't believe it would be his best.
Lara is a great win for Canelo (JFSD) but I think just in general this as a fight has more magnitude than any fight either men could have, there is not a name out there who gives Canelo or Cotto a bigger fight.
This is what boxing is all about big rivalries and this is potentially the best fight we've got on paper for this year.
It's Canelo's biggest win by far. It is not Cotto's.
Mosley was better than Canelo is when Cotto fought him and he was a world class P4P fighter at the time. Martinez was a better win than Canelo will be as well. Canelo is nothing more than Daniel Geale in my opinion, I find both of them to be B level fighters with 1 or 2 solid wins.
lol, trolling this early??
due to styles i think lara was a more difficult fight, but by far cotto will be the most important...
I voted yes. Both fighters have been looking very good and Cotto is the middleweight champion so prestige wise Cotto is Canelo's best win although beating Lara is harder than beating Cotto in my opinion. Lara would probably beat Cotto but Cotto is far more famous and respected than Lara. I can't think of any win Cotto had that would equal beating today's Canelo because Martinez was injured going into the fight. Canelo vs Lara was close but I have no doubt Canelo deserved the win. Lara ran way to much to deserve the win. Canelo won more rounds. In the rounds they both landed an equal amount of punches Canelo was chasing and Lara was running. Canelo's punches were harder. Lara fans will always insist Lara won. They must like his retreating defensive style because that is how Lara fights whenever he fights an attacking puncher. Canelo haters also jump at the chance to say Lara beat him. Cotto vs Canelo should be a hard fought war and the career best win for the winner.
could not have said this any better my self...
green k sent...
I'd still say that for Cotto, Mosley is still his best win - he was coming off of five fight win streak, beating Collazo when Collazo still mattered. He was still close to his prime and was still a massive threat, with only Winky and Vernon proving to be his true better at the time, with Winky proving his mettle at 154. At 147, only Vernon was able to beat Mosley definitively.
Canelo has the Lara win, but in no universe will Lara ever be a better win on someone's resume over Cotto, even this past-prime/washed up version. Lara is overrated and alwasy comes up small when it matters. He frankly is an average fighter. His claim to fame is the Paul Williams fight. Against Vanes, Molina, Angulo, Ishe, Hernandez and Canelo - his averageness comes up. He's nothing more than a "decent" win on someone's resume. Good on Canelo for taking that fight and reminding these folks how average he was/is
