Mares said they tied his shoes wrong so this one doesnt count
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!
I think a rematch might be worth it. Mares started way too fast. He needs to pace himself better.
Matthysse-Provodnikov was better. It was still a pretty good fight though
LOL hell no. Matthysse pretty much won every round easily. WTF did you watch?
I guess people really didn't like or didn't pay attention to Santa Cruz before. I've been seeing all day how people are shocked at how he fought. No question it's impressive to use his skills against his best opponent to date, but he didn't use any skills last night that he hasn't used before. People seem to think he showed new wrinkles and he really didn't.
I agree it wasn't really a skillful back and forth masterpiece like the Morales/Barrera fights but it's ridiculous to question their hearts. Mares gave it his all but just lacked the skill to be effective.
you right. I was just talking ****.
Dudes like you are a bunch of lames. This was a great action fight, the type of fight that has people coming back for more. You didn't like it for personal reason. This fight was legit, action packed and worthy for consideration of foty. FOH with your elitist attitudes. Last night, is exactly what boxing is about. No fluff, no posturing, just all out fighting. One guy had to withstand a relentless onslaught and used his skill and talent to overcome. What more do you weenies want?
i said it was good so calm down. i don't get overexcited over sloppy pillow punching.
didn't care for this fight, mainly because i hate watching mares foul and windmill his way into every opponent like a retard, but i read some people saying FOTY so i caught the replay. it was good but not great, had LSC winning it.

i agree with the people saying it wasnt that great of a fight. not many meaningful punches landed. not that i was expecting some kind of fight of the year type deal to begin with. in general, i don't find santa cruz fights to be entertaining.
i scored the fight a draw
Oh God! HAHAHA! Are you crazy, man?
The fight a draw... Go to watch tenis or something like.
Who ever had it 117-111 needs to get their eyes checked. I scored the fight 115-113 for LSC and a fair amount of those rounds could've gone either way. Mares came out strong but faded down the stretch and LSC was landing more from the outside, he really found a home for that left. Overall great fight that elevated both of their careers, I'm definitely looking forward to a rematch.
However, LSC should move back down for now. From what I saw, he doesn't stand a chance against the likes of Frampton, Rigo, Loma or Walters. The guy is just too easy of a target with not enough power or offensive finesse to hang with elite featherweights.
Come on, Leo can perfectly defeat Frampton.

Does pbc pay for propaganda too?
This was not a great fight. Wtf are they on?
They wanna educate dumb casual fans on what is a good fight to them. Thats why they went out of their way to talk crap on May-Pac......even though in this fight there was no skill, sloppy punches, and awkward falling galore. I love to see Technical boxing clinics!!!! oh the joy of technical boxing
Ahck! They should have fought the whole fight like that last 30 seconds! Cruz fought well though and showed some extra wrinkles which seemed to be enough to just throw Mares off.
Good fight, although it didn't quite live up to the hype of what it could have been, as evidenced by some small parts of the fight that were great. I think it was just Mares got tired and sloppy and ended up clinching too much. Came out too quick I think.
Wonder where Mares goes from here? He's still young and fought a hell of a lot of great fighters and there's still more out there for him.
Basically this, good fight. Mares blew too much steam coming out so aggressive early. I'm not making excuses for Mares tho, since I predicted Cruz to win, I just would've liked to see Mares pace himself better cause he really slowed down after 3 and it became clear where this fight was going now.
