It seems zab career might be over or at least almost over. I have not seen him fight in awhile. If it is indeed over how do you rate him?
Is he an ATG or HOF in your opinion?
I would like your thoughts...............
Had the tools to win at the world class level, but not to dominate there. When he was good he looked so good that people overlooked the things he was missing.
Zab had a fine career,,, no he didn't end up living up to the huge hype that he had as a prospect in the late 90s, but 99% of fighters would kill to have a career like zab's..
Multiple time champion at 140 with title reigns over a 10 year period
Lineal welter champ
Major fights with tszyu, khan, cotto, floyd, danny, spinks
Best wins Ward, Corley, Spinks, witter
Zab isn't a hall of famer, but is probably one of the most successful non HOF careers ever
And the last undisputed WW champion
Better than Berto, who's fighting Mayweather in a month.
I'm assuming Berto will make 3x as much as Zab made fighting May (considering Mayweather's grande position compared to 2006)
Overall Judah had a good career and won titles and made good money. I just think he falls a bit short of the hall of fame or being called an all time great. There are some guys in the hall of fame who are no better if as good as Judah and I don't think they belong there. Judah is very well known so maybe he will end up in the hall of fame some day.
Not an all time great or a hall of famer. He had good skill, great speed and good power. He had a weak chin at the championship level. Not a Khan type weak chin but still not a very good chin. Once he got hurt he was slow to recover. He was not very determined and in some fights he just quit. He quit in the Khan fight by staying down for the count and claiming it was a low blow when I believe he could have easily gotten up before 10. He quit against Clottey by saying the wrong number of fingers when the doctor asked him how many fingers he was holding up. At least I think he quit. When he was hurt by Baldimor he ran the rest of the fight when he only needed to win one round to win the fight. He could have been better if he had trained harder and had more heart and will to win. He could fight and at times he looked great but you could never depend on him. He was sort of a waste of talent and never lived up to his potential at least that's my take on him.
In what way is he one fight away?
IMO he still has a ways to go.
What i mean is if he had beaten Cotto,Garcia or even Clottey he would have had a legitimate shot
Have to be honest, should be a high C level fighter, what keeps At the B level is his power and speed. He lacks the skills, and mental stability to break in to the top tier.
His one shot was against Khan, but he got picked apart, getting hit more and more as the rounds went, got hit a little low, and he found the way to quit.
Should of been great ! But ended of being just good ! Every now and then he shows flashes again and people would think he's back. He never made it to the level of greatness.
Dude is literally 1 fight away from the hall of fame
i think you mean he's one flight away from the hall because the only way he's getting in is by visiting
Nothing but a bum. A good bum though.
What have you accomplished in your life that puts you in the position to call a former world champion a bum?
Zab Judah is better than most people who decide to earn a living through boxing. I doubt the same can be said for you and whatever it is you do in life.
He was not the Sweet Pea with power that Max Kellerman was proclaiming but he had a pretty solid career and for the most part only lost to very top shelf guys while really not getting blown out that often.
He didn't beat all that many top shelf guys but he managed to stick around.
Not hall of fame but his career is much better than most.

The list of opponents itself speaks for itself.... But the fights he should have won he lost, other fights the opponent was just too much and often seemed to no longer have the drive yet continued to fight.
One of the more underrated boxer but by his own account. With some many natural gifts and talent he lacked the disappline to become Great. He had the ability/skills/gifts to of had a ATG career but allowed it to become a possibly forgettable career down the line.
He shouldn't have moved up to 147lb. Anyway, I'd probably give his career a C: notable accomplishments, gave a good account for himself against an ATG (Mayweather) and HOF (Cotto).
