I will begin..Joel Julio...was a nice prospect and as of now is only 30 but became irrelevant at 25 after his losses to Kirkland and Angulo
havent read thru this entire thread so I maybe late here but david reid is a good example. trinidad ruined him as he also ruined vargas. reid looked to be the real deal until that fight. was a damn shame as reid was a likeable kid and talneted fighter. he was brought along too quickly. tragic
I would guess he reached his goals with his Mosley wins. Once someone reaches their life goal and gets the recognition they crave for it, then what is their further motivation.
Then getting crushed by Mayorga right after reaching his goal being on top of the world that had to mess him up mentally a bit.
Almost everyone that burns out quick is because of some mental hang up, and without the proper mindset all the talent in the world really amounts to nothing in boxing.
Haha. I meant that rhetorically. But, I think your assement is spot on
That's a good one. What the eff happened there?

Will go with Vernon Forrest~
Won his title off Frank, then trounced Mosley at his peak twice (2002). Then turns around and gets beat up by Mayorga and lost to him again (2003).
He had a small time comeback at 154 (05-08) but he was not close to the heat he had after the Mosley fights.

Riddick Bowe if you really want to get down to it. Dude had tons of talent and was plenty tough.
He really could have been Americas next great heavy at the time, just didn't have the desire to stay on top or even in the game.
Vivian Harris was a good one...when 140 was poppin, he was one of the major players
Harris was a decent fighter, nothing special though so his "burn out" never felt as dramatic as others.
James "Buster" Douglas, caught lightning in a bottle using the talent that he always had and sometimes showed for one of the biggest ever wins.
Then he couldn't even find a was to be in shape to fight Holyfield next time out~

He was already a 3 weight Champion and passed his best by then.
That doesn't mean he didn't burn out fast, he was only about 27/28 when he lost to Hopkins, never recovered and lost every major fight that followed.
do you realize how successful of a career he had?
plus the guy is still competing at world level.
I'll add in Naz, retired at 28, over the hill by 26.
Chris Eubank, another high flying brit who achieved a lot in his 20s, was one of the best fighters on the planet but by the mid 90s, probably 94, he was 28/29 and already done as a truly top level fighter. Yes his career dragged on and he managed a few good wins but he lost every major fight post-Benn II.
I live in the Bay Area, and when I talk boxing with people who know the sport out here, They say oh, That bum who got KTFO By Nick Walters and got Clowned by Rigondeaux. Scott Quigg is going to spank nonito.
:haha::haha::haha::haha:
That's your criteria, people who clearly don't know ****? Try actually watching a fight.
Mike Tyson.
Wilfred Benitez.
Hector Camacho.
Meldrick Taylor.
are you smoking crack? Benitez had a solid career from 25-34 years of age. Losing to Hearns and SRL is nothing to be ashamed of and he did well for 9-10 years.
DeMarco. I'd say Broner too, but I don't think he was ever that good to begin with.
Demarco was never very skilled but was exciting to watch because the kids chin was solid and he loved to throw big bombs all night. He seemed to have a interesting career, often defeating the guys he should lose against outside of Broner.
