Boxing fans are the worst and best fans
Before these guys were in their mid to early 30s they were the best of their time but others are more beloved
JCC lol can't hold a candle to sweet pea Whitaker

PAC man got fighter of the decade in a decade he lost n drew in while Mayweather went undefeated and had bigger fights beat every common opponent except cotto first in their career....I don't include jmm for PAC..

Floyd and Pernell are victims of their success and the only thing holding them back is their skin color. Amazing that they dedicate their lives to a craft that can leave them incapacitated and people still look at them as if they've done nothing but bottom feed with top skill sets like Joe Calzaghe.
You see what you want to see. Whitaker was very respected. He is the best defensive fighter I've ever seen. Bangers get more love. It's true. Tyson was loved in a way that Floyd, for instance, never was. But Mayweather has accomplished more.
Re Calzaghe. I don't think he has many fans outside of Britain. Calslappy is not a term of endearment.
I think more people liked Trinidad than Hopkins because Trinidad was a banger (and Hopkins slipped and countered). And guess what? They were both black. (Race and culture/language are not the same thing.)
this is probably true
I have over 2000 posts and have been on this site off and on since 2005, if yall cant face the truth get over it.
damn right im pro black...im black....actually im native american.....why in america its always a problem when a person of color shows some type of pride for their culture and their kind, but we see anti-black acts everyday
yall can kiss my ass when blacks are getting killed by police daily, churches burned, etc.
racism didnt end with having a black president
i dont see nobody calling hispanic fans on this site, pro-mexican or pro-peurto rican
damn right i take pride in being a native american, my people are the first on this earth, had the greatest civilizations, have contributed more to the human race than any so called "race", yet get bashed the most by everyone else
I think people have an inferiority complex when people of color have pride
nobody still answered my question.....when was the last time the best fighter in the world p4p wasnt black????
black fighters get the least respect for their accomplishments and get ****ted on because some of the best make it look easy, usually dont get paid as much as less talented White, Mexicanor hispanic fighters
yeah but americans don't know who he is at all because he's a foreign guy and the american boxing scene is mostly non-white, have trouble caring about him
the HW champion was the "baddest man on the planet" until he was some guy nobody could relate to, then it was all about p4p
it works both ways, grow a thicker skin
The term "p4p" has been around since the days of Sugar Ray Robinson. WTF are you talking about?
Both Pernell and Floyd weren't entertaining to watch. Defense first fighters are never crowd favorites.
It's no surprise they aren't beloved.
I respect both, but they're like the San Antonio Spurs to me. Very successful, but so methodical that it can get boring.
This thread is a bullsh*t attempt by a Mayweather fanboy to make him into a victim by including other fighters and making stuff up. It's the only reason "therealpugilist" ever posts.
this is probably true
Winners never tend to get the love they deserve. Just look at Serena Williams. She gets called everything under the sun and she's the most dominant athlete in the world right now.
look, a lot of long posts here but its obvious the TS just wanted to lump whitaker in with mayweather, even though whitaker was universally highly regarded and still is and was probably considered the best fighter of the early to mid 90s.
In all honesty, just about everyone agrees Mayweather is one of the top 2 or 3 greatest fighters of the 21st century, how s that a bad thing? how is that racist?

Seems to me like this thread is made with jealousy & envy, tools of the devil.
Believe it or not, people watch boxing to see offense, not defense.
People want to see violence, not little black guys, who spend all there time running, holding, and every once and awhile throwing out a little baby jab.

Pacquaio was awarded the Fighter of the era & Fighter of the decade awards because he DESERVED them Floyd in no way deserved even consideration'
He "RETIRED" in tears for EVER but slithered back when he thought danger had passed. REAL FIGHTERS don't do that they face all comers. Floyd ran like a biotch from a seriously injured opponent :bottle: FIGHTERS don't do that.
You claim Pac had losses LOL Anywhere but Vegas Floyd has 3 losses Castillo Maidana & a DQ loss to Ortiz
Oh & BTW do not put that cowards name in the same sentence as Ali's name
Ali ducked no one & when he had to he coulf FIGHT!! too
Larry go suck a cok you lil $h!t troll "it's because I am black" die you lil $h!t
why do u think its okay to say this type of stuff? why would u tell another man to do that? im trying to understand how a sport can make one this disrespectful and angry its just boxing

everybody likes whitaker, for the most part and he is highly rated. IDK about during his reign back in the day.
people usually ***** a lot during a fighters reign but after they retire and some years passed everyone forgets all of that.
Look at lennox and vitali, *****ing about lennox holding too much and his chin, *****ing about vitali being robotick, now that theyre retired nobody says that **** anymore and rates them highly. Floyd will be the same
RJJ was a once in a generation fighter. Explosive, entertaining, just an all round excellent fighter. I loved watching him because he ignored all the boxing fundamentals yet still went out there and dominated.
Problems I have with Roy is how during his prime years when he had a lucrative HBO contract, he fought some really weak opposition. There was a point where he fought a string of civil service workers. A police man, a sanitation worker, and even a substitute teacher. WTF was that about? LOL.
I loved watching RJJ but he also turned many casuals off with his brash arrogant persona.
This is the exact concern I complained about with canelo/Kirkland and kov/mohammedi and GGG's resume since signing to HBO.
