just finished hattons book vegas tales , very good read one thing that really came through is how bitter and resentfull he still is over the handling by cortez in the mayweather fight , hes very honest in the book as ricky says he knew it was a hard fight but he thought he deserved a level playing field and chance to win which was ruined by cortez not allowing in close fighting and constantly breaking the two apart when he got close also the elbows and tactics of mayweather that never seemed to get reprimanded by the ref but hatton got punished by the ref for the slightest thing, also wasn't happy about cortez being all over mayweather after the fight that made him very curious and pissed off , he talks a fair bit about floyds behaviour before the fight on the prefight media tour and how Floyd acted like a 6 year old and complete ******* , also talked about floyds behaviour at a wbc conference recently and how arrogant he carried himself and his behavier toward fans acting as if hes way better than anybody else his body guards shoving people away from him when they approached for autographs ,his thoughts are floyds a great fighter but it takes more than that to be a revered remembered champ and he hopes one day he starts understanding that .
Just finished reading this book - went and sought it out thanks to this thread. It was an entertaining read, full of funny anecdotes.
Best bit for me was the line (about Floyd): What's the point of being the best boxer in the world if everyone thinks you're a dickhead?
Also, the bit about Liam Gallagher poncing around with one of Ricky's belts before the Malignaggi fight, practising how he was gonna hold it up in the mirror before they exited the dressing room. Such a poser :)
With regards to the Mayweather fight, yeah Ricky still seems bitter... understandably. Should've made the fight on neutral ground, maybe?
Anywaysss, although Ricky lost some fights, he's loved by so many. He seems human and honest, which is worth more than an '0'. He is himself everywhere he goes, there's no pretence. Whoever's saying, 'Oh I saw Floyd, and he was OK with me'... this seems to be the exception rather than the general rule, no? The general rule being that he is a dick deluxe.
All I took from that is Floyd is scum which we can all agree on. no respect for his fans, his fellow man or other fighters in general. Even previous greats.
He thinks because he's amassed an unbeaten record, he's above everyone else.
Man I can't stand the guy. Great fighter, horrible human being and will never be remembered as a great champion, just as a great fighter.
Mike Tyson was right when he had that little go at him. Greatness comes from being accepted by the people. Floyd isn't and will never be.
Every time I've met him (3 times) he's had all the time in the world for his fans.

The offers made to fight in the US make no difference, because Jr. wasn't leaving Las Vegas. Mayweather clearly stated he wasn't going to the UK to fight Hatton even when Hatton was the ticket seller and the champion of the 140lb division. It was always going to be Hatton compromising.
Looooooooooooool
I agree with Ricky.
It was such a shame Cortez was breaking them sometimes at the same time they clinched. Hatton never got to work on the inside, and that was what made the match up so interesting....how would Floyd deal with Hatton on the inside.
Yes, many of the clinches were headlocks, and the ref was right to break them straight away. But it became ridiculous. Even when they started to fight their way out of a clinch Cortez was stupidly telling them to stop fighting.
He ruined that fight imo.
Hatton doesn't know what his team said regarding a fight with Mayweather? Yeah right. You really believe that? That's just his way of distancing himself from the fact that they turned down the fight. He obviously didn't object it by his own admission which means he turned turned down the offers.
Doesn't matter what Trampler's title was. He said Hatton turned down two offers to fight Mayweather and he's in a position to know which is all that matters.
Regrading Gatti, he was never a "PPV guy" which is what you stated.

I'm going on Mayweather's own quotes, his words. Now you've provided corroboration with Hatton's words. Of course that won't be enough for you because it doesn't suit.
He didn't confirm it either, he said he couldn't speak for his team. But it's irrelevant because those offers would have been to fight in the US when the fight should've been in a stadium in the UK given Hatton was the champ and ticket seller - where Mayweather refused to go.
Trampler isn't the promoter anyway, he was/is Top Rank's matchmaker.
On Gatti, he was the A-side, the fight was on PPV, Gatti was the draw. Floyd complained about having to travel to New Jersey, he wanted to fight in Las Vegas or even NY and a good whinge about it.

Fun to watch all the Floyd Fags get riled up over this.
I'm not real big on excuse making, but Cortez ****ed Hatton pretty good in that fight. I'm not going to say Hatton would have won, but it is better to watch 1v1 than 2v1 as a boxing fan. It might be justice for the ref job in Hatton against Tszyu, which I'm sure he isn't complaining about.
How can Mayweather refuse something that wasn't offered LOL? You're going by Hatton's rambling about fighting in the UK. That's what Hatton is saying.
I'm going on Mayweather's own quotes, his words. Now you've provided corroboration with Hatton's words. Of course that won't be enough for you because it doesn't suit.
But the promoter, you know the guys that actually make the fight, said in "black and white" that Hatton turned down Mayweather twice. Hatton didn't deny it when asked about it. His excuse? "Problems" LOL. Gatti was never a "PPV guy" so stop lying.

It's there in black and white that Mayweather refused to travel to the UK from the link you provided.
But there are other quotes out there from him, where he flat-out refused to go to England, his words.
He wasn't the champ, he wasn't selling out stadiums but he refused to travel.
In fact, he even cried about having to go to New Jersey to face Gatti claiming it should have been in Las Vegas even though Gatti was the PPV guy.

Didn't confirm it at all. It was Hatton who turned down offers to fight Mayweather. Not the other way around in spite of how you keep lying about it.

He wasn't the champ, he wasn't selling out stadiums but he refused to travel. He expected Hatton to travel, which he ultimately did to his own detriment.

lol all your link did was confirm what I was saying, Mayweather refused to fight Hatton in the UK when Hatton was the lineal champ and the draw:
From your link.

Did you miss this part of it?
In an International Press conference held yesterday, Ricky Hatton was told that Bruce Trampler of Top Rank, Mayweather's now former promoter had said that Ricky turned down a fight with Mayweather at least twice this year and that he would not be facing him this year. Hatton was asked if this was correct?
Here is what Ricky Hatton had to say on the subject:
RICKY HATTON: Well, me personally it wasn;t done but I mean I can't be speaking for their, you know for my team, or to be honest this year it would be stupid to admit with a fight with Mayweather because I have so many problems with ***8211; problems outside the ring where my father promoted (INAUDIBLE) obviously we were sitting trying to do a deal with HBO.
I was in negotiations with that when my current promoter and he***8217;s my new promoter, you know, from Artie Pelullo, Robert Waterman and Dennis Hobson. He was who had the court case with Souleymane M***8217;Baye was claiming (INAUDIBLE) fight. There were so many things going on and it***8217;s been difficult to ***8211; you know to basically get on with the fighting so to speak, you know, with the negotiations.
But I think the sensible thing is, you know, I***8217;ve ***8211; I don***8217;t think that when I come straight out of England and fight in the first time in America and fight Floyd Mayweather, you know. To be perfectly honest with you I think that would be a stupid thing to do.
False.

lol all your link did was confirm what I was saying, Mayweather refused to fight Hatton in the UK when Hatton was the lineal champ and the draw:
I mean for instance Floyd Mayweather, you know, said on many occasions a few years back he would come to Manchester and he would fight me in front of me own crowd and he would knock me out and do all this crap what hes been saying and now hes all of a sudden decided seems a bit cautious (INAUDIBLE) and dont during over the last 12 months he didnt want to come to Manchester.
So, you know, if I was going to be (INAUDIBLE), you know, maybe he dont want to fight me. He said he was going to come to Manchester now hes changed his mind.
From your link.
pretty much all of this is false. Floyd tried a million times to fight Hatton at 140 and Ricky wouldnt take the fight. So then Floyd goes to WW and thats when Hatton finally wants it. You think Floyd should come down for him? Also, Hatton is a bigger guy than Floyd. Dont forget that Floyd was the one who started 2 divisions lower then Hatton and is much smaller than Ricky on fight night. Floyd didnt go to WW because he was big. He went to WW to chase the Oscar fight. He shouldn't have been at WW himself. He was just talented enough to do it.
I also love how people try to claim Vegas is Floyd's hometown. Floyd is from Michigan. Half the boxing public lives in Vegas when they become pros but somehow its only Floyd's hometown despite the fact that he's rarely the crowd favorite in any fight. Hatton is not better then Floyd. He never was and never will be. Thats why he lost and its that simple
Yet ricky is shorter. And has shorter arms.
tmt thinking (face in palm)
