Is being margarito tough a dying breed

Margarito, Provodnikov, and Hatton? You mean guys who block punches with their faces Rocky-style?

I think being Margarito tough has usually been the exception to the rule rather than the rule.

Screw that man, If I had a choice and had to be aggressive I'd rather fight like Marcos Maidana. He has a defense while coming forward which is even RARER than being 'tough'. Being 'tough' requires less skill than having to come forward AND making your opponent miss. It's so unique that Maidana is the most exciting fighter imo. I'd also prefer seeing Floyd than just a face-first brawler who has no skill. That's why I hate watching fights on TV Azteca it's just no-skill slugfests. Sometimes both such so bad they can't even hurt eachother because they gas out before 4 rounds lmao.

Young kids emulate Floyd because he is a complete fighter. WHy would a young kid want to emulate a face first cheater? If I was to train a fighter I'd have him slip and bob like Iron Mike , I'd teach him the body attack of Julio,I'd teach him the in and out and angles of Pacquiao, I'd teach him the shoulder roll of Floyd and how to hold like Floyd I'd teach him how to throw straight Punches, I 'd also teach him how to throw fast combos like Meldrick Taylor and last I wouldn't teach him how to duck or wait till fighters become wash up like Floyd or fight at catch weights

Sports injuries are scrutinized more these days, especially head trauma. People are more aware of this. A lot of stories are coming out of the woodworks of athletes who have sustained injuries in their primes that have led to many ailments in their old age. You know who's a real tough guy? Gabe Rosado. You know who I think is going to have brain problems when he hits middle/late age? Gabe Rosado.

Swarmers itself seem to be a dying breed. On another note to maby fighters wanna be mayweather and will ruin their own potential and marketability . Likely get knocked out. Look at harrison for example. Broner for example. There are more to come

The methodology of the boxer/runner has taken over the sport. Kids coming up look at a guy like Mayweather and his sucess figuring that's the most effective way to fight. People are also more aware about the effects of concussions and brain damage nowadays.

I think the reality TV culture that took over high profile boxing events really changed the landscape. Youngsters have a personal, almost unhealthy attachment to undefeated fighters and get sad when they lose, feel all wet in the vagina when they're spotted with a celebrity or win some award, etc. THis is some real talk

Is it a dying breed. Thank God! We dont need any more cheaters in the sport!!! We have the plaster cheaters out of the sport, now we need to get the roid cheaters out!! Then, the "scale" cheats! Those who will severely dyhadrate themselves to gain and advantage on fight night and avoid their true weight div....Canelo, Garcia, Chavez Jr., etc.

They got filtered out as people realized tough personas are fraudulent when you cheat and get completely outboxed by better skilled fighters who know how to box. I would say someone like GGG or Matthysse is better all around than the overhyped Margaritos, Provodnikovs and Hattons

Fighters are just realizing they don't need to use their chins as defense. They discovered this thing called movement and it helps prolong your career

Billy Miske was told by doctors he only had a few months to live. He was too sick to train but he still stepped into the ring and knocked his opponent out in 4 rounds less than two months before his death so his family could have money for Christmas presents. Obviously guys haven't been as tough as since the 20's. In all seriousness I think this is just another example of boxing fans complaining. There are plenty of tough fighters out there. We fans are a fickle bunch that are impossible to satisfy it seems.

Where is all the provodnikovs and margaritos and hattons at . Is it a dying breed. Every gym i enter all kids fat slow skinny goofy slick quick tall short mexican asian russian black white american is sparring like they wanna be the next mayweather.. no tough styles no boxer punchers.. these kids all wanna fight just like floyd. These young pros as well. Im like wtf ,style doesnt suit them but still. Many will fail too cause fighting like Floyd requires cat like reflexes and many don't have just ask Berto and Broner how it worked out for them when they wanted to fight like Floyd. This happened also in the 70's when many wanted to fight like Ali and many failed as well

Provodnikov is like him. Herrera also is. Cheating Salido. Tim Bradley, Matthysse, Maidana, Rios, Marquez, Froch (he gets a mention 'cause he's still really recent and sure I missed some guys, too)....plenty of tough mfkrs in boxing. Tough guys aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Plenty of tough kids out there on their way up, too. We just don't know their names yet, but we will...
