With the news that Carl Froch has retired and the consequent debate about his HOF status, I think we should rank some resumes. The four guys I would like to rank are all borderline HOFs (you can make an argument either way). Here are each fighter's best wins:
Froch- Pascal, Kessler, Dirrell,Taylor, Bute, Abraham, Johnson.
Hatton- Tszyu, Collazo, Malinaggi, Castillo
Margarito- Cotto, Cintronx2, Clottey, Martinez
Castillo- Casamayor, Johnston, Corrales, Lazcano, Diaz, Bazan
My ranking would be Froch, Castillo, Margarito, Hatton. What are your thoughts/rankings?
First off, Froch and Hatton are first ballot HOFers.
Margarito's legacy is tarnished, just like Mosley or Toney and none of them deserve the HOF.
Castillo should be in their considering the likes of Gatti are.
Now counting Margarito's win over martinez s a bit laughable as he was very green and only been in boxing a few years. Just naming a name doesn't make it a best win.
Like I've said over and over in this thread, I think they'll both get in. But some fans do debate whether they should so I made this list.
Mosley and Toney will get in. I don't think the steroid use will keep them out. Does Roy Jones not deserve HOF either? I think he does. Margarito was the toughest one to decide. People discredit his Cotto win but who really knows. I think as time passes he may sneak in. His case is not simple at all.
I think Castillo's resume is better than Hatton's.
Yes, Martinez was green. I know. I put Glen Johnson in Froch's list even though he was past it by the time they fought. He's not a big win for Froch but I threw him on the list anyway. Margarito doesn't have a lot of names but he has the best win of these four fighters.
For me Froch, Castillo, Hatton and Margarito. For me Margarito is still haunted with the plaster issue. Castillo have a great record as well but I think he had the exposure because he fought in the US and fought Mayweather when he was at his best.
Hatton also fought Vince Phillips, the guy that knocked out Kostya Tszyu, if you want to see a war you can also watch Ricky Hatton vs John Thaxton, was a real test for Hatton at the time. We all know that Hatton that fought in Vegas was fighting outside of his weight (due to his negligence between fights). He also fought at Madison Square Garden in his 2nd fight as a pro but went back to fight in the UK.

Froch
Castillio
Hatton
All HOF
Margs I cant. His resume is just OK. But the glove thing and the ass whippings he took from Shane and Pac make me feel he is just overrated.
The Ass Whipping he took from Pac should contribute to his credentials. He never stopped coming forward.
Froch
Castillio
Hatton
All HOF

I don't think they'll put Margarito in the HOF because of the scandal, but Trinidad did make it and he also had similar things said about him in his career.
True but Tito's resume was a lot better tho..I also don't think he was caught..Margas was..

I find it a lil hard with Marga's,but I guess your right..Marga's has Cotto and Martinez on his resume..That's not bad...
It's hard to say with Margs. Glovegate may keep him out. Over time he may sneak in though.
I agree. I think a case could be made for each fighter making it.
Froch has a deep resume.
Hatton was the man at 140.
Castillo had a great run at 135.
Margarito has the best win of the bunch and a solid resume.

I'd put Hatton in the HOF,but I could see the argument for him not getting in either..He fought most of his career in the UK and did not really start stepping it up until late in his career..For me tho, great fighter to watch and he always left it in the ring, what pushed his in imo was the 140lb run and he won a belt at 147lb..

You're joking right? Hatton was 43-0 and undefeated 10 years going into the Mayweather fight..lineal undisputed best 140 during his run..beat and retired ATG Tszyu..geez, This site just gets worse and worse..

Honestly, I could see all four guys make it in but I've seen good arguments for both sides.
I'm not so sure that those are better wins than Paulie. I guess they're in the same neighborhood. I can't think of any noteworthy fighter either guy has beaten.
I don't understand the argument for Hatton getting into the HOF other than beating super famous.

Mar's I love him(beside the cheating)he's not getting into the HOF..All the other three are shoe in's imho..Froch and JLC have the better resumes, and I'd give the edge to Froch tho..

Maussa cold ****ed Vivian Harris to win 140 title when he was one of the better fighters around..Urango was hard punching and undefeated..both these guys are better. Than Malignaggi ever was..

I think Hatton and Froch will definitely get in, but there's no way Urango and especially Maussa are better wins than Paulie. The best fighter Urango beat, unless I'm really forgetting someone, was Ngoudjo who Paulie also beat.
Hatton and Froch aren't borderline, they're shoe in for the HOF..Castillo should get in for his fight with Corrales imo..best fight I've ever seen..
And Maussa and Urango are better wins for Hatton than Malignaggi...

I would probably have Castillo, Froch, Margarito, Hatton.
It's almost hard to kind of remember because of what ended up happening to his career with his weight and everything, but Castillo was one of the best LW's in recent years at his peak which was a good time for the division. He went years without losing to anyone not named Floyd and I think he deserved the decision in their first fight as well.
