Obviously I don't mean that boxing is an easy sport to be very good at..it's extremely difficult, I mean in the sense that if you have the potential and talent and you work hard you will make it for sure in terms of decent money and exposure.
It isn't like football where even if you have the talent it's still very to play for a well known team. In boxing you start off by fighting bums around the country build and undefeated record and sooner or later a well known fighter who is looking for an easy fight or coming off a loss and wants a win will pick you to fight against. There is the chance beat him and pretty much made it.
What do you guys think?

If you don't have a promoter worth ****, or a connected manager/adviser working the circuits for you, you're ****ed.
As an example, let's look at Guillermo Rigondeaux and then look at Erislandy Lara.
Rigondeaux, as things currently are looking, has no fights on the horizon and MAY end up with a single fight this year, if he's fortunate. To make things worse, that Caribe Promotions lifetime deal has basically been an albatross around his neck, preventing even willing promoters from finding a price point.
Lara will likely fight two times this year, as he's done for the last three years, with another two fights lined up for him next year.
You can't really argue that either guy is so much more talented than the other, but you can clearly see that, by being connected with a proper team, Lara's career is going to end up delivering for his family far better than anything that Rigondeaux can even dream of.
Hell no it's not.
90% of all pro boxers retire with more losses than wins, and many have suffered injuries and scars that stay with them the rest of their lives.
It's like being a war veteran. You have a lot of interesting stories and earn the respect of your peers, but you have no money to show for all of it.
Sadly its kinda true.... we live in an era were undefeated fighters get their d*cks sucked and the cum swallowed.
Broner was the future of boxing, P4P #5, the next "floyd mayweather".... just because of an undefeated record.... ask larry and brush they swallowed some of his.
Calzaghe is only relevant because hes undefeated aswell, probably the most overrated fighter in boxing history.
Danny Garcia a mediocre fighter getting gift decisions, but hes undefeated doe.
Crawford beats 2 chinny bums, one already exposed and other1 was a featherweight.... and hes already P4P and the "future" of boxing... Broner 2.0
Even tho im a fan of Golovkin if heard ppl here say hes an ATG already...rofl
I dont buy undefeated records, most of the time it means u have yet to step up in competition, or like floyd, you are fighting guys at the right time.
Undefeated records are for casuals like brush, larry, stax and golovkin
A pro boxer has everything going against them. From getting hurt in training or in a fight to greedy promoter/management.
Not to say good fighters that don't get enough promo or the sanctioning bodies just ignores them.
The sport itself is hard and not everybody can sustain or survive the training or matches
You lack of knowlegde about the sport is terrifing. As a individual who tried to make it, can tell you it is not that easy. You don't make sh** for money... Depending on where you live, it's difficult to find fights to stay active... In boxing you only make money as a contender or champ. There is no money as a prospect.
Another good post. Bigalex I tried to make it also. And you fight for 500 bucks which is no money for what you have to do. And that was actually good money for a upstart. Then there is the talent levels. As long as you fight soup cans its fun. But then you run into someone hungrier than you.....no fun at all lol.

I think you are an idiot, and should go back to playing xbox in your room. Dinner will be ready soon.
Man this is one of the dumbest things i have ever read man, nothing is easy about winning on the top level in Boxing. Hell in Basketball and Football you have teammates to help you look good. Boxing is a lonely sport
Good point larry. Boxing is a brutal sport. The training/conditioning knocks most out of the sport. There have been multiple prospects that couldn't sustain the training and lose the detrimental lifestyle. And thats before they get in the ring and get hit. In other sports the team provides the meals. In boxing its all on you to feed yourself. Imo boxing is one of the hardest sports to break into. Most who attempt to break in just cannot do it.

What is an example of this?
i know pacquiao was a former champ before he got to the US but know one knew him in his first fight ....they couldn't even pronounce his name properly lol
What's the chances of that though? That a big promoter gets behind some fighter that has little to no boxing experience? These are typically circus acts, ex football players with somewhat of a name, or a Kimbo Slice type of street fighter. Once in a blue moon a big promoter will get behind one of these guys to make a few bucks before the inevitable (they get exposed), but typically it's the small time promoters. These guys don't "make it" they just are used by promoters as a gimmick to sell some tickets, really.
But say you start off fighting bums and just around the country for hardly any money..and your actually good..look good against these bums...get to say 25-0..a champ will be looking for an easy fight and he picks you as your undefeated to sell it abit...thats the chance you grab and beat him.
One difference is, in sports like basketball, football, baseball... Once you make the pros you're up against elite competition off the bat whereas in boxing your faced against very low level comp for your first 20-25 fights or so. Sometimes it takes YEARS before a pro fighter takes on a top level opponent.
Yh exactly a boxer starts off fighting bums builds a record and then fights a well known fighter and if he is good he beats him then onto bigger things from there
I can see what you mean, look at a guy like Algieri who has very little boxing experience but with a little heart, determination, and natural gifts is making big money because he upset Provo.
Thats exactly what I mean.
Honestly if a promoter takes interest in you than you can make some good money in boxing without being very good.
Look at Seth Mitchell, very little talent but someone likes him and feed him a steady stream if bums and got him onto HBO three times.
Your average Joe can make it into boxing at 26 as long as they dedicate themselves and if their lucky will be called up as an opponent and could possibly win. Just like Mauricio Herrera.
Exactly what I mean...you start of fighting bums and build a record..you will get a shot at a good boxer after that.
I think you should not be allowed to make another thread until you apologize for this one.
lol I mean if your good at boxing you will start off fighting bums get a record of 18-0 or so and a champ or a well known boxer will look at your record and say "hes just fought bums" and fight and that is when you get your break through moment.
Man this is one of the dumbest things i have ever read man, nothing is easy about winning on the top level in Boxing. Hell in Basketball and Football you have teammates to help you look good. Boxing is a lonely sport
I am not saying boxing is easy..its the hardest sport...what i am saying is that if your good at it you will eventually make it.
Seth Mitchell is that you? We've all been wondering where u went... Lol! But forreal, respect to all atlhletes but boxers really are in a league of their own...
