I've said it before and I'll say it again because I was proved right again last night.
He was fighting Jessie fking Vargas. A guy who wasn't even a good Junior Welterweight and has no power, yet the fight was competitive at times and Bradley got completely buckled by a guy with 9 stoppages. Then to top it off, he gets saved by the referee whilst hurt. If that had happened to any other fighter in a different country, there would be an outrage.
Why is Tim Bradley so highly thought of?? I mean he's a decent fighter, capable of winning world titles but people actually rated this guy as the 3rd best boxer in the world. Based on what? :lol1:
None of his performances are ever dominant or impressive. You never see Bradley go out there and 12-0 a guy. These last two fights have supposed to have been showcases for him and there always manages to be some kinda controversy whereby he makes it's close enough or fuks up to the point where you're left with more questions than answers.
His career as a whole is littered with sheer luck too. He caught Junior Witter shortly after the death of his father and Witter was never that good anyway plus it was a really terrible fight for the vast majority. He fought Kendall Holt after Holt had just won a title via a headbutt against that Colombian kid and got dropped twice in another ho-hum display. Then he beats Alexander in another ugly ass fight after Devon had just been embarrassed in his hometown against Kotelnik.
And still not one of those performances were impressive or dominant. Then he ducks his biggest challenge/payday at 140 in Khan to fight Casamayor. Before he stumbles into a Pacquaio after being about 4th choice on the list and gets one of the worst robberies in recent history.
Then for some reason, after KOing Pacquaio, Marquez turns down a money spinning 5th fight and decides to fight Bradley of all people for far less. Bradley scrapes through again in a fight that I thought could have been a draw.
Finally his luck runs out in the Pacquaio rematch but by that time he's gained enough unwarranted money and exposure to go out and make it on his own as the A-side fighter yet he keeps producing these uninspiring performances.
I seriously thought he would whoop Jessie Vargas last night so I could be like "Ok, he showed he was a level above that kid" but he continues to fail to impress me.
Lost some respect from Bradley after he "won" against Pac.
Bradley is a good fighter. Has some good wins before and after Pac. Bradley beat Marquez. That fight is in now way a draw or a robbery. The Vargas fight, the ref made a mistake. But Bradley was holding already when the fight was stop. Vargas can have 20 seconds, Bradley will not get KO.
Who rates Garcia? Everyone hates him and yet he has two much more impressive wins at 140 than Bradley ever had.
He doesn't have a better overall resume tho. You're all over the fukin place lol. Tim has a better resume but overrated. And somehow garcia is underrated
I think Garcia is underrated.
Fff lol. I respected the dude incredibly for puttin a hurtin on Khan and Matthysse, but since then his stock has fallen dramatically... And rightfully so.
in boxing there are bad judges (Pac Bradley 1) . And lucky punches. Everything else is fair game. Tim's record is legit. You don't accidentally survive The Siberian Rocky. You don't get lucky and whoop alexander and peterson like that. You don't beat Marquez a great Mexican champion that KO pac-man. Just saying the reason we are passionate about boxing is because punches don't lie. The judges can be terrible. But the fight is always the truth and regardless of the judges those of us that love the sport know who won the fight. What Timmy doesn't have in talent he easily makes up in heart. Could you imagine if the dude actually had power.
"The Siberian Rocky" is a C-class fighter who was suppose to be a showcase fight for Bradley but he went life and death. He got a lot of luck with the referee in that fight and even the judges to get the decision.
People hype Provodnikov just because of that fight. He's rubbish. Chris Algieri outboxed him ffs.
Now people are trying to act like Vargas was something.
I agree with you, and Dirk's post above in that on just straight boxing ability that Tim is a B-B+ guy. There is'nt any one thing that pops out and makes me go wow when he is in the ring. The thing is though, ability is'nt the only thing that makes a great fighter. Its a rare thing to have a fighter that is A level in the skills and intangibles department.
People focus on Bradley's mistakes instead of all the good stuff he does in the ring. The difference between him and the other "elite" guys in the sport is that even though his mistakes stand out more, he thrives under pressure and is able to outwork and outbox his opponent when it counts and these other guys fold under the intense pressure. They make less mistakes on the whole but typically when they do make a mistake, it costs them dearly while Tim can work through it.

I'm not gonna lie. I had high expectations about Tim's potential in the sport, but he's just not a consistent fighter. He's a hard worker and has a big heart, but he doesn't have the "It" factor when it comes to looking dominant against A-level opponents. He's a decent B+ boxer who can box well on the outside, but he isn't as good as the likes of Floyd, Ward, Rigo, etc. He doesn't know how to control a fight the way those guys have shown they can against high quality opponents.
He doesn't throw enough sharp straight punches and he has a tendency to stumbles off balance due to his exaggerated awkward movements, hence the lower body injuries that he endured against, Pacquiao. He's a gutsy little dude who wants to get right back at his opponent the second gets hit a good punch, but it's been proven that that type of approach doesn't work against a top level opponent like Manny and he almost got wrecked against, Ruslan.
Bradley is a cool dude outside the ring and he's entertaining inside the ring, but to expect him to be like Floyd, Ward, Rigo in terms of outclassing his opponents is asking too much of him. I blame TR hype machine for building up Bradley as if he were, Mayweather.

Bradley is an A fighter, easily. He may not be elite like Pac or Mayweather prime, but he's a tough fighter, great chin, volume puncher and has the will of a lion.
Nothing but respect for Bradley and for years now he was going to get beat by this guy and that guy, yet it doesn't happen.
Respect to that dude.
In last 14 fights Tim has had maybe 3 guys that you could consider a soft touch. It can be easily argued that Tim has one of the best resumes in boxing. How many current top 10 p4p guys can even carry Tim's jock strap when comparing resumes? I'm guessing the list will consist of just a few guys. P4P means if you magicly make a guy bigger or smaller would he be able to compete at various weight classes. I don't see how anyone with an objective eye could deny Tim.
If you actually believe Tim is a C level fighter please stop watching boxing now.
Does he have the greatest skill set? No.
Does he make **** harder on himself than it needs to be? Yes.
Does he get the job done? Yes
Tims last 14 fights.
Jessie Vargas- Was easy work until the 12th. Ref tainted this win big time, sadly.
Diego Chaves- Life and death with a guy that is still a top 10 WW with his only real loss coming in a tough fight with Keith Thurman.
Manny Pacquiao- Lost decisively
Juan Manuel Marquez- Easy work. Anyone who thinks this was a close fight is straight up delusional.
Ruslan Provodnikov- A fight that will be a classic in years to come.
Manny Pacquiao- Controversial win obviously, but a win.
Joel Casamayor- Obviously way past it.
Devon Alexander- Unification fight and took his 0
Luis Abregu- Took his 0
Lamont Peterson- Tim's mandatory, was undefeated, beat easily.
Nate Campbell- NC
Kendall Holt- Unification match.
Edner Cherry- Soft touch
Junior Witter- Tim was a huge underdog and got the win in the UK.
This overemphasis on 12-0/KO wins and on overall record is exactly the kind of **** that pushes fighters to picking relatively weak opposition. Tim Bradley in recent years has not done that. Plus this fight with vargas was a clear victory, even if he did not win every single round.
Top 10 p4p might be a stretch right now, but top 20 seems fair.
Jessie Vargas is terrible competition and was picked by Bradley.
I never mentioned he had to KO anybody. Ward, Mayweather and Rigo don't really KO anyone yet I consider them light years ahead of Tim Bradley.

I bumped my Bradley is overrated thread... the poll so far says that Tim is indeed overrated lol! Typical NSB garbage of attack TS for being a nationalist and hate on fighters he likes instead of debating Bradley's overrated "skills" and supposed "slickness" lol. If Tim Bradley didn't have his heart and will he would be an ESPN class fighter. I don't know why people are so offended by saying Tim is overrated. I actually think it's a compliment because he is overachieving for his skills or lack of.
Tell me about it. It's just a bonehead way of debating.
