Arum has also been looking at other revenue streams...whether it's Macau, where he's had success, or Dubai, where so far he hasn't, or whether that's partnering with TV Azteca to do pay per views in Mexico, or whatever.
That's what real promoters do. Unlike Gary Shaw.
Arum was hosting a lot of people this week...including Peter Nelson of HBO to go over the Brooks-Rios fight.
It would seem to be in Top Rank's best interest to get along with HBO, and Arum knows that.
I think that's evidenced in the coments Arum recently made about it not being "fair" to HBO or Top Rank to rely so heavily on HBO.
That's why Arum is talking about doing more pay per view shows to keep his fighters busier.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, Rios; promoter, Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti and HBO Sports vice president Peter Nelson spent part of Friday night at Arum;s house in Beverly Hills going over details of the American television deal for the bout.

;Were going back to our roots, like when we had (Hall of Fame junior flyweight champion) Michael Carbajal,; Arum told ESPN.com on Thursday after the final news conference promoting his HBO card topped by Timothy Bradley-Jessie Vargas at the StubHub Center on Saturday night. It was important for him to fight regularly and to get him a date on HBO or a network was difficult, so we did these pay-per-view shows with him and Chiquita (Gonzalez). And we did OK on them.
Its not fair to us or to HBO for us to be dependent on the HBO (money). HBO has to be able to accommodate other people. They cant always accommodate us but that shouldn;t impact on our fighters.
Were going to do the show in conjunction with (Mexican network) TV Azteca, which will cut down on a lot of our expenses, Arum said. We have a good site fee in Mexico and it is designed for us to break even at 50,000 to 60,000 buys, which we should be able to do.

Arum knows floyd is going back to hbo for his final fight and haymon is leaving showtime, haymon already put all his fighters on different networks, leaving showtime with weak match ups. Hbo was kissing floyds butt the prefight week, even during the fight roy jones, lamlpey and kellerman were strangely pro floyd, lampley you can tell was told by hbo higher ups to refrain from talkin down on floyd so they could get him back on hbo and work with haymon again. Roy jones who used to say floyd waited too long to fight manny and that floyd was boring, was praising the crap out of him, post fight the arena boo floyd and cheered pacauiao when pac said he won, but kellerman manipuplated the ppv viewers by acting like pac was delusional, casuals believe anything, its why flowmos go hard on social media with aggressive popoganda hoping that people believe it.
I just feel hbo and haymon might be working again, haymon even got golden boy kicked off fox and replaced him, and took down the long time friday night fights on espn, whatever haymon is doing behind the scenes to land the trust of these networks is a mystery he never gives interviews so we will never know.
hmm, I completely forgot about tru tv....that's a good point then.
Bob did question why HBO allows Golovkin so many mismatches and yet some of his fights are denied...perhaps this is just a case of every-relationship-has-its-disagreements. Otherwise I was merely considering the possibility of TR also using SHO. I do feel it's unlikely there would be a falling out with HBO because of some declined match-ups.
I think TR would have a lot more to lose than gain by trying to work with Showtime. Alot of Bob's rant was directed at Peter Nelson, but Nelson was at Bob's house on Saturday w/o issue. Bob's allowed to go off on rants and speak his mind, but at the end of the day there's big business to be had with current fighters like Pac/Bradley and future like Lomo/Crawford/Verdejo.
Arum recently announced intentions for an independent ppv from Mexico City, with Rameriz, Valdez, and he's trying to get Gonzalez/Villoria to headline - saying he doesn't want to be completely reliant on Turner money. That was kind of their drive behind the Latin Fury series, so they might be bringing that back in order to keep developing their young fighters.
I see Main Events is doing some work with Showtime, but I think that might be part of the lawsuit which was dropped when Main Events sued Haymon/Showtime for the Stevenson signing.
HBO/Hershman setup the truTV deal with TR, where TR is getting $200k-$400k per card for multiple years. Arum's not screwing around with Showtime and messing up his company's relationship with HBO.

As a fan and obviously not as a promoter that has to manage dates for all his fighters, I like hbo getting involved and saying no certain match-ups. For the most part, they've been putting on quality shows, sometimes that involves top rank fighters and sometimes it doesn't, but the programming has been good. Top Rank doesn't need to drop HBO, they can just use both SHO and HBO like they used to. That would be the smart thing to do, and SHO definitely needs some good action thrown their way after Haymon royally f*cked them in the ass.

Arum has already been trash talking hbo. He doesn't like one of their execs or something. Trying to match make for top rank

As pointed out, that was Ken Hershman between Bob & Todd, with Freddy Roach next to Todd & Peter Nelson switching seats mid show to sit next to Roach and Kovalev w/ Klimas behind them.
I found it interesting that Kovalev was at Arum's house party on Saturday evening.
Russia***39;s @krusherkovalev can***39;t handle the LA cold. He needs a blanket to watch the truTV fights. Lol @CarlMoretti pic.twitter.com/AzdcxEF3AI— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) June 27, 2015
It's definitely Ken Hershman. Definitely.

This is Stephen Espinoza
http://www.thesweetscience.com/images/stories/boxing/Stephen_Espinoza_Showtime.jpg
I saw Ken Hershman the president of HBO sports sitting next to Todd Deboef, Arum's step son, but I didn't see no Espinoza unless you're are talking about Frank Espinoza a Boxing manager.
Now I'm confused I have to go back and watch again

So that was him? Wasn't sure if it was but that is kinda strange. Likely him messing with HBO a little bit and showing them that he has OPTIONS! Arum is a Brilliant Businessman/Promoter and he is a Master Chess Player Himself
That is funny though, can't recall seeing a Showtime guy show up to a HBO Event or vise versa :lol1:
Espinoza is in a bad position, it's pretty obvious that Haymon is giving him whatever scraps are left after PBC gets their fights done and a deal with Arum would actually make sense. The fights on Showtimes have lately been horrendous, stuff that should be showing on Fox Sports 2 or some ****.
wouldn't matter. Bob would just put the fights that HBO wouldn't want. Then the decent fights HBO would want, Arum would drive the price up to the point Showtime would buy it
