Only reason Brook would get the fight is because he has the IBF title and Khan had 2 chances to get it
1-When Alexander was champ
2-Brook has offered him a fight since he got the title
Again, you are using Khan as the comparison. If Brook really had a resume that could stand on its own, I don't think you would need to appeal to current affairs of Amir Khan.
Brook's win over Porter is a solid win - but if I am only looking at him and not comparing him to anyone else, i don't see many other big wins, or top opponents. Don't get me wrong, he's pretty damn good just wished there was one or two more names on his record.
Because that's who we're comparing :pat:
I agree, it's never a good thing when a fighter
depends on a fighter or two, when he should be fighting other solid opponents until the big ppv fights presents itself.
But Khan can't match Floyd in ring IQ. What happens when Floyd adjusts?
Again, you can say the same about anyone else in the division. Some might say no one looks like they can match Floyd's ring IQ, in any division.
But you need more than just Ring IQ to win fights. Look at how a young Khan beat veteran Barrera for example. Barrera had a lot more ring IQ and experience than Khan at that point but other intangibles came into play which made it an easy fight for Khan.
Again, you can say the same about anyone else in the division. Khan has the best shot to do it.
But Khan can't match Floyd in ring IQ. What happens when Floyd adjusts?
But it took him a long time to do it.
For an Olympic silver medalist, Khan makes a lot of amateur mistakes.
Every boxer makes mistakes, even Floyd. No one is perfect.
Just not true. Look at his last fight. He had a plan B, adjusted to Algieri and outboxed him. And that's after no one expected Algieri to fight that way so Khan obviously hadn't trained for that type of fight either. But he adjusted and implemented a plan B.

Except Khan has no Plan B.

So Brook's resume gets enhanced because Khan didn't have a good outing last time?
I really have nothing against Brook, but that doesn't seem like a logical argument.
Khan hasn't had a good outing since getting KTFO by Danny Garcia (some would even push his last good outing back to the Zab Judah fight).
The Algieri fight was his chance to show the public that he was finally worthy of the fight; with few other real options, a definitive Khan performance would've sealed the deal. Khan failed miserably.
While Khan couldn't deliver, Kell Brook continued blowing out the fighters put in front of him, finally got his opportunity at a world title, won said title, on the road and in impressive fashion on Showtime/Sky, put 10k people into his hometown arena for his inaugural defense (on Showtime/Sky), and headlined a show that end up drawing near 20k people in London (both performances in impressive fashion).
Brook has staked his claim the way every other fighter has ever truly staked their claim; by fighting fights and performing well in said fights.
Khan can be predictable at times, but even Floyd can be predictable - how do you think Maidana and Pacquiao were able to counter his straight right several times? lol
So yep, Floyd can be predictable too..
Except Khan has no Plan B.
They were off nights? So, Khan's had three off nights?
The other, more likely explanation is that Khan is predictable. What good is speed if you can be countered easily?

They were off-nights for Khan and you know it. Malignaggi, Alexander, Judah couldn't find Khan and they're faster than Diaz. And anyway, Diaz beat Porter but only got a draw so he proved that when he's prepared he's a very good fighter. And Algieri is a fast fighter anyway, he found Pacquiao consistently.

Khan's speed is vastly overrated. Julio Diaz and Algieri were able to find him.

does anyone here live in the US? Absolutely no one knows brook. Khan is 100x more popular than brook. Mayweather has not mentioned brook once, and people do not even ask him questions about a brook fight. Sorry to burst your bubble but the second cotto said he will fight alvarez next, the mayweather-khan fight was a done deal. Mayweather was about to fight khan after his bad performance with diaz so i doubt his performance against algeri will change anything.
You're overstating the popularity of Amir Khan, to a ridiculous extent. If Kell Brook has no name ID in the US, Amir Khan has near no name ID (with the folks who note him likely recalling how he got KTFO by Danny Garcia); giving away tickets to Khan-Alexander and still only getting 7500 people into a 16k-seat venue should've made that point pretty clear.
Mayweather-Khan and Mayweather-Brook, in essence, have the same profile in the US; Brook is a relative blank slate that folks aren't sure of how "special" he is, while Amir Khan is better known in turning in **** performances (Prescott, Garcia, Diaz, Molina and Algieri all come to mind).
What has Khan done to offer a counter to the gif of him getting put down by Danny Garcia and out by Prescott?
If Brook is the guy, which I think he is, everyone involved would have a full two months to push the flesh and introduce him to the American audience.
Khan is the best opponent at 147 based on style and speed.
Thurman & Brook are both easier fights for Floyd.

Floyd doesn't need to knock Khan out.
It's a myth that you need power to trouble Khan.

What makes you think that the Floyd Mayweather who hasn't had a legitimate knockout in 8 years is going to knock out Khan? Ortiz doesn't count because that was a suckerpunch, although Ortiz deserved it, it was still a suckerpunch.
And Khan has never been outboxed over 12 rounds but neither has Floyd. Most interesting match up out there at 147.

Khan has speed, but not much else. Once Floyd times him, it's over.
Like I said, Khan's defense is poor.
