These top P4P guys get a lot of stick for their style of boxing, being labelled boring a fair bit. I just want to know the current consensus from NSB on who is the most boring fighter of the 3.
Wlad, no contest.
Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather dominate world class competition and provide us with world class skills, Wlad fights C and D level fighters in every fight and struggles so much he has to use illegal tactics over and over again.
A guy that has barely been boxing for 6 years of his life gave him hell in his last fight, forced to win through illegal tactics. Made him look amateurish in there.
He's stiff, robotic, and isn't a fluid athlete like Ward/Mayweather.
For me
Mayweather - oftentimes frustrating esp when it is obvious his talent and skill is wayyyyy above his opponent but still he remains defensive. he's lucky his marketing gimick (i.e. being a villain, douche, etc) clicked because his style doesnt really translate to many fans.
Vlad - 10x more frustrating than mayweather esp when his size and skill is also wayyyy above then most his opponents. the only consololation is he KOes people after a few rounds of hugging
Ward - wins and does not care if it looks good or bad. kinda like amateur boxing mentality.
Wlad simply because he always has every advantage and still fights scared, never once have I seen him go in for the kill like a mad man. he gets KO's but his level of opponents is really horrid, yet he still fights as though he may be killed at any second.

I think it could go either way between these three. Their tactics in some situations are similar and how ugly it ends up looking depends a lot on who they are fighting.
Aka if Povetkin was boxing from a distance rather than trying to get inside, guaranteed this fight would have looked different. Of course, I'm not suggesting that doing so would have been in Povetkin's best interest or that he should or even could of. Just pointing out that that brought out the ugliest performance on Klitschko's part.
I ended up voting Floyd, but honestly not by a huge amount. Had this been a similar poll prior to Floyd's first retirement, there is no way I would have voted Floyd.. given the way he beat the **** out of Gatti and others.
Wlad fights used to be exciting because you never knew who was going to get knocked out but the last several he fights too careful with all that grabbing.
1. Klitschko
2. Ward
3. Floyd
Floyd is an extraordinary athlete who every now and then will throw some eye-catching fancy punches or show some acrobatic defensive moves despite being at the tail end of his career.
He just has that natural smoothness about his style that Ward lacks. Unlike Floyd and Ward, Klitschko has the punching power and mostly all the intangibles you can think of to KO every opponent he faces, but he chooses to play it safe most of the time. I personally don't have any problem with his style. I'm a pro-defensive fighters fan and he's fighting in a division where it's inevitable for anyone to get KO at any given moment.
Ward is a great all-around boxer who can do it all, but he's just not as smooth or athletically gifted as Floyd is/was.
So Wlad is super boring and Ward is just boring. Problem solved!
Each to their own. Only thing ive found boring with Ward is the lack of competitive fights.
easy, Wlad can be unwatchable
Ward is somehwere in the middle
Floyd is by and large not boring. He's not a full out entertainer, but he's not boring. He sets himself in the pocket enough and will engage. His defense is other worldly though so he can pick his spots
Ward almost always tries to work in the clinch. Big difference in what he does to what Wlad does.
Wlads KO's are mostly putting us out of our misery and they mostly come 3-4 rounds too late.
So Wlad is super boring and Ward is just boring. Problem solved!
I don't think any of these people actually watch Mayweather or Ward fight when they say something as stupid as both guys holding as much as Wlad. Neither guy holds anywhere near like Wlad does.
This thing people are doing lately where they claim Mayweather holds everyone is especially disgusting. He held too much in one fight against Maidana. That's it. Otherwise he barely clinches at all. Wlad clinches more in a round than Mayweather does in entire fights. The absolute worst performance of Mayweather's career had less than half the clinches Wlad did at his worst.
Same with Ward, by the way. His worst holding wasn't even half of Wlad's worst, and other than Kessler and a couple fights afterwards, he hasn't held that much either. He didn't clinch beating Abraham, Froch, Dawson, Rodriguez, or Smith.
It's true. The thing with mayweather is especially true. People get way too sensationalistic when talking about him - After the Maidana fight he was suddenly "hugger". It was the same with Brook after Porter. none of them hold in any of their other fights, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
I've explained it numerous times, that guys like Mayweather used his holding as a former of defense when Maidana was rushing in and he tied him up. The difference is Wladimir literally uses his clinch/lean/hold as a form of attack. He leaps across the ring with the sole purpose of clinching and tiring his opponent out. The same cannot be said by Ward/Mayweather.
Ward had an awful clinchfest vs Kessler - amongst other things. Imo he was borderline DQ worthy, especially after the blatant headbutts.
After that, he's never been anywhere near as bad.
Wlad clinches (attack) at least 10 times a round on average.
has to be wlad. his fights consists of him jabbing from across the ring and then using his massive size to pin the other guy down in a clinch, that's all that pretty much happens until the KO. mayweather's virtuoso defense and fast counters and ward's athleticism and activity keep it interesting throughout the fight.
in which world? In this world Klitschko holds infinitely more than Mayweather.

I voted for Ward as the most boring. He holds as much as Wlad does and he almost never hurts anybody. At least Wlad usually ends his fights with a crushing KO even if the fight was boring up till then. Ward's fights are boring for 12 full rounds. Mayweather isn't exactly Mr. excitement but his long range boxing skills are entertaining. Mayweather holds way too much but not as much as Wlad and Ward.
Ward almost always tries to work in the clinch. Big difference in what he does to what Wlad does.

Easily Klitschko, and the people who try to equate his cheating style to what Mayweather and Ward do either don't know sh*t about boxing or are completely biased. Wlad's style is completely different and a hell of a lot worse. The fighters who compare to him are guys like Miguel Vazquez or Carlos Molina.
if wlad didnt have big power and a suspect chin hed be major boring but his power n chin always makes things a bit interesting even in his most boring fights
