So Mayweather has mentioned names like Karim Mayfield and Andre Berto recently. He's previously said: "I'm going to fight who I want to fight. Someone I think is solid".
Amir Khan has staked a claim to be the one, and most people see him as a favorite to get the fight. Here's what he had to say about Floyd's recent comments:
"He must definitely see me as a dangerous opponent if he doesn't want to fight me...I didn't even know Flody Mayweather knew who Karim Mayfield was. When he ran into Karim Mayfield, he walked past him like he was a fan. No disrespect, I like Karim, he's a good fighter, and so is Berto, but the thing is, there's levels...It seems to me he's going to be finishing off his career on a low.
It's the biggest fight out there for him and it's the most dangerous fight out there for him. I mean, everyone is talking about it already. When I was at the Hall of Fame, people were all talking about that fight. "Can Mayweather beat Khan and vice versa?" I think he knows that I've got the height, I've got the size, and I've got the speed to give him the biggest problems. He probably thinks, "Do I really need a style like Amir Khan, who's going to give me problems? Do I really need to fight him?" If he can take an easy route, which it seems like he's taking now, he thinks he can keep his undefeated record."
Keith Thurman & IBF champion Kell Brook are in agreement with each other and have said that they are the biggest threats to Mayweather and should get the fight in September.
Shawn Porter said after his fight against Broner: "I'm not looking at anymore Mayweather undercards, I'm looking at fighting him!"
But who does the fans actually want to see?
Mayweather himself had this to say in early June:
"It's been a goal to come to the UK and put on a spectacular event and the plan is to do just that," he told The Sun.
"I love all my fans in the UK and I want to go there and give a good show at Wembley before I retire. I plan to come in the near future. I want to continue to make history with the mega events we put on.
"The Floyd Mayweather brand is globally recognised. The warm welcome over there in UK is a good indicator of the magnitude of success a fight would have. We're looking forward to it in the future."

Floyd doesn't give a fcuk about what the fans want. Forgot about the Maidana-Khan poll on Floyd's website? Khan won 65-35 after receiving 100' of thousands of votes & Floyd said fcuk the poll Imma fight Maidana :lol1: ...Khan was freaking out after getting trolled like that.
Khan promoted that poll like a girl :lol1:
"Please vote for me guys"
Still lost on other polls.
The fans have chosen. Make it happen.

Mayweather is already promoting the Brook fight. He's already wearing the hat or he's just a fan maybe.

A few weeks ago I would have said Khan just to see him get KO'd but I find him so over the top annoying recently that I hope he didn't get the fight. I actually think Mayweather retiring without knocking out Khan would devastate him even more. Might even make him retire as well.
You say clearly, yet Canelo vs Cotto was clearly being negotiated and for whatever reason stalled, this of course was around the time before Floyd had to bow from CBS pressure to fight PAC. Now we have a scenario where Cotto and Floyd both don't have an opponent, yet. I wouldn't rule that fight out at this point yet, the only reason I have my doubts is because Cotto looked solid last out after 153 on the scales for a fight above 154. Also taking into account Cotto really can earn more versus Flyd than Canelo.
Ask yourself this, why is it you believe Cotto vs Canelo never happened when they initailly began to negotiate ? Floyd loves to be his own man and Khan demanding he faces him just makes me think it is all the more likely he won't, not only does he piss Khan off if he faces Cotto next, he puts one over his old best enemy.... Oscar.
Don't rule it out.
That's true but it's the fight both want and probably the fight that makes most sense for Cotto and Canelo. They will most likely earn more money fighting each other and won't have to deal with the bs again. I think Cotto would earn way more vs Canelo.
It didn't happen because Cotto is a diva and most likely wanted to make some easy money or sort out his promtional issues or whatever. That fight will happen next.
That being said, I'd be down for Mayweather vs Cotto II for the middleweight title. Two welterweights fighting at middleweight.
Cotto is in negotiations with Canelo - clearly that fight will happen next. This is a poll for september, and I don't think there's many other likely candidates than the ones I mentioned.
Floyd certainly isn't fighting GGG so I agree, that's completely ridiculous to even mention.

Ok didn't know that. Strange he has to pay to get a belt. Didn't Pacquiao already pay sanctioning fees? You'd imagine that they would have to pay him to relinquish it.
not sure tbh
200k is a lot of money to ask for a bloody belt
floyd might pay it just to piss arum off, but he has to give up another one of his belts in return
if he does pay, then he will either unify with brook or he will drop one of his belts, so spence can fight for it on his undercard
He also said he wasn't completely decided yet.
If he was to vacate, surely he should do it soon? He said after the Pacquiao fight that he'd vacate on monday after.
Just speculating. I don't even know if he's still the WBO champ or not - because according to him he hasn't vacated?
WBO have allotted Bradley fight to be for interim if Floyd relinquishes the victor Saturday night is champ. The date is something like July 2nd for him to decide. I think they're trying to be respectful and all that, obviously it is lucrative to have Floyd as your champ.
Let's just hope it's one of Brook, Cotto, Thurman or Bradley. I'd prefer Any really, although neither excites me hopefully Floyd can just get his opponent and be then be gone hopefully then these guys start fighting each other, as with Khan clearly they're avoiding certain guys for the big payday. This Rios Brook fight is hardly inspiring, with Floyd gone maybe we'd see Thurman vs Brook, now that would be something right ?
Thurman is not proven, 1 or 2 good wins
Brook is not proven, 1 good win
Porter is that one good win
Who the hell is Karim Mayfield
It's not ideal but Khan is looking like the only interesting big name
He has some embarrassing losses but also head and shoulders the best resume
unless tragedy strikes and Cotto agrees to hand Floyd his MW joke belt
WBO haven't given him the title and won't until he pays $200k. If he doesn't they're giving it to the Bradley-Vargas winner.
according to floyd he wants the wbo in his hands before he decides what he is going to do
he is the wbo champ as long as he pays the 200k fee and vacates his 154 title
i think he has like 1 more week to decide

Well he wants to hand one to Spence.
He said in an interview that he will vacate the belts he just doesn't know when but definitely before September.

Is there a reason why Mayweather hasn't vacated yet?
Could it possibly be because of Kell Brook?

The poll is pretty conclusive but i would have liked to have seen a poll with Cotto and without other as quite clearly the GGG fight ain't never happening.
Far too many delusional GGG fan boys on this forum, I expect they are the guys who were rooting so hard for PAC to beat Floyd, it isn't even that they're hardcore GGG fans, more so hardcore Floyd haters, success will do that to folk.

Gennady Golovkin isn't going to sit idle awaiting the winner of the fight shaping up between WBC middleweight Champion Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Álvarez.
'GGG' is back in the gym with the avowed intention of weighing a slimmer 154lbs just in case Floyd Mayweather wants to fight him on September 12th.
