The thread has sort of turned into a thread bashing Brits for hyping Brook. I don't see the Brook 'hype' that way. The majority of British posters always rated him and picked him to beat Alexander, then Porter. It was other posters/nationalties who hadn't seen much of him..who picked him to lose, then after he won, suddenly completely changed their views and started 'hyping' him. Their enthusiasm has wavered over the last view months..but it was them who started putting right up there on a pedestal overnight. And besides that, he beat Porter pretty easily IMO. He didn't 'barely' beat him.

I thought Brook thoroughly outclassed Porter. I didn't think the fight was even close.

That's because Mayweather's options seem to be Khan or Brook and the overwhelming majority want him to pick Brook just to stick it to Khan. ... Or that, just as was done with Brook, they look at Khan's last five fights, see that he's struggled in four out of the five, and wonder where this insistence that Khan is supposed to be a threat to Mayweather is coming from. No one is saying that Brook is the favorite to beat Floyd, but Mayweather vs Brook is a fight that, in my mind at least, where the outcome is in doubt. How does Mayweather handle a younger, bigger, boxer/puncher with pop in both hands, good balance on his feet, the ability to fight coming forward/going backward, and a sturdy chin? would really like to find out There's no such doubt in Mayweather vs Khan; Khan will start with his flashy combos, Floyd will have his rhythm down by round to, and Khan will end up walking himself in on a check hook/pull counter, being recklessly aggressive as Mayweather nullifies his volume.

People need to stop hating on Brook.... I'm a fat yank and give him his props... He worked his way up, struggled at times, but his struggles made him a better fighter and he has learned his craft.... The guy is a legit player at welter and clearly dominated Porter, who was sloppy and not as refined as Brook... Brook's size n jab going to be a problem for anyone... Outside of floyd, Brook can beat anyone at welter... If boxing was a legit sport, thurman-Brook would be a fight to determine #1 contender Manny is over the hill and would get neutralized by brooks size and jab... I would favor Brook over guys like khan, Bradley, marquez, etc.... Fighters can improve over time, happened with mike mccallum, hopkins, etc.. Anyone that thinks Brook is a hype job, doesn't know the sport... He is a very capable fighter at the moment..

People are talking about him beating Pac, about being a good option for Mayweathers last fight etc. They've literally gone from saying he's an overhyped protected UK fighter to bring in the ring with May and Pac. It's classic NSB. Their is no middle ground, it's either side of pendulum or nothing. Yeah, Brook fights guys hes supposed to be beat, but theres something to be said about execution, you still have to execute your game plan and he decisively defeats those opponents whereas Khan routinely has trouble against the fighters he should easily have beaten, thats poor execution.

lol, so pathetic, im not even a brook fan. i remember the poll before the fight, literally everyone bar 3 people + me were saying porter would KO brook. i may be wrong as i dont remember the fight well, but wasnt porter hurt pretty bad several times ? He wasnt hurt, he was just neutralized, he tried bull rushing but Brook was able to use his strength to nullify that tactic. It took Porter out of his fight because hes used to being the stronger guy in every fight hes in.

I think he's getting a lot of hype but I also think he's got skills and is one of the better 147 guys. The thing that bugs me about him is that he gives off that vibe like he could do more in his fights. Like, I just see him in vs some of these guys and even if he's fully in control I can't help but feel that if he turned it on he could really give us something to be excited lver. He has some pop, the skills, and doesn't seem to be plagued by Amir syndrome (the "chin")...but I guess he lacks that fire or maybe no one has brought it out of him? I like him though. I might not think he's THE best at 147 as clearly thats Floyd but of the younger guys he's up there. If he isn't the best I think the man who beats him will probably be a top 3 guy or better. He's not likely to lose to a fringe contender... He'll determine the best. Unless he really has it in him vs top guys but I thought he was clearly better than Porter...and Porter was looking like one of the studs in the division and some of the guys here were calling for Porter vs Floyd and Thurman and calling him a mix of Shane and/or Tyson (I also thought he seemed that way til he was put in his place). I give him his props for that win but his other fights have been lackluster

He still has a lot to prove and seems to be NSB's new darling. That will all change with a poor performance or a loss. Takes a good Boxing eye to appreciate Brook IMO. Brook has great balance, good strength, and decent pop to keep you honest. Theres nothing that POPS OUT about him. Hes even money with Bradley, Pacquiao, Marquez, Khan, Thurman etc.. Thats not hyping him, to act as if he wouldnt be competitive with those fighters would be hyping THEM up. Most of the posters in this thread will be Khan fans that are just as scared as Khan at the thought of fighting Brook. Its amusing, I just want to see a good fight lol.

Oh Please this is not a Khan/Algieri thread. But who is hyping Brook? It's more people that just don't like Amir Khan for being a p*ssy and backing out of a fight with him. Brook has very few diehard fans who are hyping him.
