Both are 1 and 2 fighters of the last 15 years, no debate about that. But who do you rank higher historically.
Obviously different weight categories. Both have pros and cons. Wladimir i feelhas ested himself more, and beating Haye, povetkin, pulev, Tony Thompson, Chis Byrd, Chagaev etc is better than Calzaghes resume.
However Calzaghe is undefeated, never had a slopp loss like WLAD did in his early years. Sure Wlad proved in the maont brester rematch that hes levels above the guys he lost to. But still it is a blott on his resume.
So who do you rank higher, style wise Joe culd not kncok out opponents like Wlad due to his brittle hands. But he has better hand speed, and more range of shots.
Over to you guys...
Nice selective bias there.
Just stating the facts. In a near 20 year career WK has never beaten a single great fighter. Almost all of the fighters in his win column are bums. There were a few good fighters that competed during the same time period but he never fancied getting in the ring with them. He was terrified of getting back in the ring with a 38 yr overweight journeyman neverwas retiree ffs.
Wlad with out a doubt. Calzaghe toughest opponent was an Old Bhop. Kessler is a tough opponent as well but Bernard exposed something quite. Unfortunately after that exposure he fought two older men and retired. Wlad has pushed on through tough times and now looks damn near unbeatable.
Calzaghe. Not even close. P4P He was faster, hit harder, and had a better chin. Joe never lost and was never knocked down. He also beat multiple Hall of Famers on their on turf.
:lol1:
you didn't even watch his career!

Wlad.... He has beaten everyone of his era... Calzaghe was a better fighter but has some holes in the resume
Some holes? Lol, his career is like a cheese-grater
Calzaghe is ahead because unlike Wlad he didn't get KO'd by journeymen, bums, and 38yr old retirees. Also Calzaghe's wins over Kessler, Hopkins, Jones, Eubank etc are better P4P wins than any of Wlad's.
Wlad easily. You can't deny his domination although we wish Vitali didn't fight some of the battles. Still he is a very dominant champion in the biggest division of them all.
Calzaghe could of added names like Pavlik, Dawson, earlier Roy Jones Jr., Hopkins rematch, Glen Johnson, and Antonio Tarver.
Nothing against Calzaghe but I think Wlad is just a more accomplished fighter.
It's not like Wlad has names like that either. So how is it a big deal that Calzaghe doesn't have them when Wlad doesn't either?
Joe. He had a whole lot of title defenses as well, his typical competition was no worse than Wlad's, and he at least has a Bernard Hopkins on his record to prove how good he was.
Wlad has a far better resume and has dominated for longer. Also, despite not being undefeated, he's never had any close or controversial decisions in his career. Calazahge at his peak was P4P the better fighter, but Wlad has the accolades and the longevity on his side. Those are the things people tend to remember more when viewing fighters in a historical context.
Wlad, even though it's close. However, being THE heavyweight is still the most important status in boxing, even with the lackluster American heavyweight scene. Wlad is a great heavyweight.
But Wlad and Joe are not 1 and 2 of the last 10 years or so lol
"But joe never lost"
This is the type of casual fan who sucks on fighter snuts when they are undefeated, which doesnt say much. F8cking Mayweather brainwashed alot of kids into thinking undefeated means something.... GTFOH Robinson lost 19 times and he is the true ATG (Ali can make a case too).
I rate joe top 900~ and Wlad top 40~
Have you even analyzed and dissected Ali's and Sugar's resumes? You watch any of their fights?
