Povetkin has become an offensive beast since his embarrassing defeat to Wlad at home. By that I mean the lack of success he had and the huge scorecards. Since then he has gone back to the drawing board, got into good shape and seems to be more focused on his career. But how can a fighter suddenly go from a decent accumulation puncher to a one-punch knockout artist, knocking fighters cold who were never KO'd before?

This year he has beaten 2 of the guys we see as having the best chins probably at HW, and now he has actually been tested positive.
Three solid fighters who were known for their durability and were expected to be tough fights for Povetkin. However, he has stopped all three in brutal fashion, not through accumulation but through raw power, 1 punch knockouts. No one in the division has been doing that to high level fighters, not even Wlad (mostly).
Russian athletes are known for PED scandals, and Povetkin being on the juice would not at all surprise me. I'm not saying I 100% believe he is on PEDs, but it seems anomalous to say the least. As long as he is fighting in Moscow with Ryabinsky controlling and promoting the events, he will not be caught if he is on PEDs.
What is your opinion? Is he just displaying great accuracy and skill and reaping the benefits of being in better shape? Or is something more shady going on?
Vote in the poll and discuss. :boxing:
But if it can make the most difference in a boxer, it’s a Povetkin type. He short and doughy. Give him a break. If ur not cheating ur not trying hard enough.
It's obvious this thread has nothing to do with the fighter and EVERYTHING to do with your insecurities regarding Russia being better than Ukraine at everything in life. Yes, Russians have bigger c0cks than you, feel better now?
This made me howl :lol1:
Yeah, the thread was definitely about this hahahaha
No. He won gold in the world amateurs in 2003, and won gold again at the 2004 Olympics.
And he won another 10 or more gold medals in international tournaments.
Povetkin has arguably the best amateur record of any super heavyweight in history.
Ever hear of Olympic style random PED testing?
Stop being jealous of Povetkin! He's an exciting boxer who doesn't repeatedly clinch and push down his opponents like some other heavyweights. :nono:
Yet he failed 2 damn random tests in 2016 alone
Bringing back old threads is always a good time, lol
Only thing this is missing is the Charleton Heston .gif, someone needs to hook it up.
Especially when we can see the difference between opinions at the time of writing, and how the facts coming to light later on changes everything :lol1:

Word out of Russia has it that the United States hacked the drug testing process. An unnamed KGB source revealed that Russian intelligence believes it is "highly likely" that the testing has been interfered with.
I voted "no" back in May 2015. As a matter of principal I usually give fighters the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Maybe need to exercise a little more skepticism in the future.
In this case it wasn't just a guess or without basis, Povetkin literally changed into a completely different fighter after Wlad. I never really rated him, then he became this beast K.Oing durable fighters? I never bought it was legit.
In other cases, probably is worth giving benefit of the doubt.
Lol. I remembered discussing this and tried finding it post failed drug test #1
In soviet Russia punchers are made not born.
Lol yeah I remembered making the thread and wanted to bring it up now, having remembered what the reaction was at the time.
Poll results after 2015's win v Mike Perez:
Yes - no way he has suddenly become a monster puncher
13 19.70%
No - he is reaping the benefits of being in shape and focused
31 46.97%
Maybe/Not sure
22 33.33%
Let's see how we vote now - yes being 'yes, he is clearly intentionally using PEDS', the other options if you think it's all somehow a mistake.
Apparently 1 person since you made this post has voted no.
I'm dying to know who that was :lol1:

I know people called Wlad on his fight with Povetkin. But I am glad he did, bloody juicer has been juicing for god knows how long...
Got up from 3 legit KDs..
Well let me put it like this. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, walk like a duck and quacks like a duck then chances are it is a duck. All the signs are pointing in that direction.
