Despite all the criticism Broner got for losing to Chino, there were still a lot of people defending him saying he was to young, to small, to much to soon etc. Personally I think Porter vs Broner is a great match up, Im actually surprised (to an extent) Haymon made it. Stylistically I think Porter has the edge & the whole re-hydration clause may not favor Broner like most think because Broner balloons between fights, unless the re-hydration clause only applies to Porter.
On the other hand if Broner wins, Id like to see Broner vs Pacquiao as Pacs first comeback fight after surgery. But anyways, will Broner, his fans, & team be out of excuses if he loses (by UD, KO, or TKO) to Porter? Or can you see Broner sticking around for a few more Paydays?
He'd pretty much be done and will slowly start descending into Andre Berto journeyman territory.
Quintero (gift)
Ponce (gift)
Paulie (questionable)
Maidana (ass whopping)
...and then Porter? It would be a wrap.
I think Broner is in trouble if he losses this fight. Since the loss to Maidana, he's fought 3 fringe contenders at 140 and looked ordinary each time. Haymon will probably keep in on PBC just for his mouth and antics, but I don't see much more than that.
Bad thing is, Broner isnt meant for regular TV, I think PBC actually takes away from his persona. I do agree that mentally he will take a blow, I think hes stronger minded than Zab or Berto but his ego I think will take a hit.
I agree, I do think Broner is capable of taking more losses than Porter tho. Porter will be irrelevant I think if Broner beats him regardless of the weight I think. Broner may have a chance like most say to be the next Berto or Judah tho but I hope Im wrong in both instances.
I agree with the losses. The thing is though is I don't think Broner can take another loss, mentally. When I said life support I did'nt mean retirement, but just that his hopes of being a great will be crushed. He will still get fights with decent opposition, but will end up one of them guys that everytime they try to step up, they come up just short.

The only thing that's keeping Broner relevant after the stomping Maidana put on him is his repulsive personality and foolish antics outside of the ring. I hope Porter smashes this clown into a fine dust and throws him into the wind. The last thing boxing needs right now is another Fraud Jr. personality.
Boxing-wise, he's hardly relevant now. He's barely top 10 at 140, and he's been there for a few fights now
Business-wise, will be a name but thats it. Just as Guerrero is a 'name'
Whos Guerrero? lol
This is a big one for both guys. If Broner loses, he is in bad shape imo. He has all the advantages with the cw and rehydration clause. So if he loses it just makes him look terrible and puts his career on life support. My problem with the kid is he just does'nt seem dedicated to the sport. If he actually had the Floyd work ethic he could be special imo. He has no business above 140 and I think Porter is going to kill him.
Porter is at a crossroads to a degree as well. Coming off a loss to Brook and a win over a complete nobody. If he loses he goes to the back of the line for the forseeable future.

He will become a permanent fighter on Spike TV
Yeah I agree it's unlikely but you never know.
I'm not too sure but I think Porter rehydrates quite high. What's the limit for the fight?
154 or 155. Can't remember which.
That's an insult to Judah. He actually beat good guys and didnt barely scrape by guys much smaller than him. Sure he lost to baldomir but he had a good career.
Judah barely scarped by Demarcus Corley in his prime.
Broner has beaten a few decent guys aswell.
They're similar fighters, talented, lacking in skills and ridiculously overhyped.
I can't imagine he will be, but I'm hoping he is. I think a healthy Porter roughs Broner up.
If Porter does look like himself, then it won't be so bad if Broner loses.

That will depend whether Porter is healthy or not, surely?

I think Broner will be the new Judah.
Doesn't matter how many times he loses he'll still be a decent name.
