Golovkin is 33 years old, and his notable wins are: Kassim Ouma, Matthew Macklin, Daniel Geale, Martin Murray.
Who should GGG fight to improve his resume?
Cotto & Canelo are pipe dreams.
I personally will be dissatisfied with anyone who's a lesser opponent than Daniel Jacobs, Andy Lee, Peter Quillin, winner of Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam vs David Lemieux, Fedor Chudinov, Felix Sturm, Badou Jack, winner of Andre Dirrell vs James DeGale, winner of Arthur Abraham vs Robert Stieglitz, Carl Froch, or Andre Ward.
I think it'll be the latter particularly if N'Dam wins. Lee is with Di Bella, who is working closely with Haymon these days so maybe a question mark as to whether he would go on HBO.
Could be, it would still be better than the Monroe's and Stevens of the division. A time will come, by mid 2016, when GGG will be done with any legitimate challengers (hopefully Lee will have fought him by then as well) and if Cotto is still champ and Quillin is still holding onto relevancy, there is no way those guys will be able to get away from GGG.
make a list with the fighters who would wish to fight Golovkin next...
No-hopers such as Lara, Tureano Johnson, & Sergio Mora have expressed interest. David Lemieux seems eager to exchange.
OP you need to scratch all the Haymon fighters off your list.
Quillin lost his belt so if Golovkin is able to unify by scooping up the IBF & WBO belts, then I can see Quillin vs GGG for the vacant WBC title. Overly optimistic?
Man, you've listed a heck of a lot of SMWs and it is clear GGG isn't moving up.
Cotto and Canelo are very very unlikely for this year as you think so too.
I'd prefer if he fought Lee or the winner of Lemieux v N'jikam.
So the consensus is that he should target the other beltholders at 160. Cotto is vacating that belt, he'll relinquish it or lose it to Mayweather/Canelo. Canelo is HBO's cash cow, do you believe they'll let him in with GGG?
Our friends here better make a list with the fighters who would wish to fight Golovkin next...
... Well: we only do have Lara on that list...
(Forget about Ward: he said he needs 2-3 tune-ups...)

Wrong question. The right question is "who would accept to fight Golovkin?"... You'll immediately find out that this one is more difficult to answer.
Did you catch the fight MD?

GGG vs Cotto, GGG vs Canelo, GGG vs N'Dam or Lemiux, GGG vs Lee
After he beats Cotto and Canelo, then he can take his first L at the hands of Andre Ward.

Good list with pretty much every relevant name on it. The Haymon factor makes a number of them unlikely (DJ, PQ, BJ, AD) and the German trio are all past their best IMO (and anyway do very well for themselves fighting each other in the Deutschland), but would make for decent fights at the higher weight. Froch and Ward would be the ideal ofc, but Froch looks on the verge of retirement and Ward has a little rebuilding to do before that fight looks likely...
Sooo...... Fedor, Lee, NDNJ, Lemieux and DeGale: DeGale would be the toughest IMO and Fedor's still a little green, but they'd all make for decent fights. Any of the Germans would do as well, though I never really rated Stieglitz and following the Chudinov fight I dread to think what GGG would do to Sturm - AA would be the best bet IMO.
Looking at the rankings (viable):
154
Demetrius Andrade
160
Andy Lee
N'Dam-Lemieux winner
168
Carl Froch
Robert Stieglitz
Fedor Chudinov

hmm well Im pretty sure Lee will be Mayweathers final opponent. So he will not want to risk a fight in the meantime.
Cotto, Quillin dont want that fight.
Wouldnt be surprised if he fights the winner of Lemieux Ndam.
Howbout Lamont Peterson wasnt he 160 in his last fight? :lol1:
How the heck would Lee be Mayweather's final opponent? :lol1:
