Has this fight,if being made, got the potential to outdo Mayweather-Pacquiao on PPV?
Or any other of the recent PPV records set by Floyd.
No, for the simple reality that neither fighter has yet been able to capture the imagination of the casual boxing fan, the viewer that generally drives larger PPV numbers.
Cotto-Alvarez, if booked and pushed hard, will likely end up with 600k-800k PPV buys at the utter top of the range.
This fight ain't coming close to 1mill in buys.
I say it tops out around 700K give or take 50K. That is a great number to be honest.
The Floyd vs Manny fight will have no effect on this fight numbers because casuals might be turned off.
Fact of the matter most casuals don't really know who the hell Cotto or Canelo is.
Honestly what fight has either headlined on regular cable that had casuals talking about it?
I honestly believe it could do huge numbers,i predicted 5 million buys for May-Pac and it fell just short of that. This fight could easily get near 2 million, both are obviously huge huge names.
Question: When was the last time a PPV did 1M buys without heavyweights, De La Hoya, Mayweather, or Pacquiao?
Answer: Never
PPV's with Cotto and Canelo have done well over 1 million though. (Granted with Floyd.) I think it does 1 million, easy.

Definitely not the sparring match of the century record. Nor the ppv fight vs Canelo. Maybe, just maybe the DLH/Floyd fight. But casuals(who buy the majority of big ppvs) might be turned off from buying ppvs after may the may 2nd fight.
btw, thats some straight cerdos in your pics! #HellaCarnitas

Nah, But I would love to see it!
800K is a great number...i will be surprised if it does a million
You know what? I retract. Maybe you're right. Hopefully the fight will get made and we'll see.
Green to you.
canelo's last two pay-per-view bouts sold 350k and 300k; cotto's last two sold 250k and 350k. against each other they might hit 800k if they're lucky and the undercard is quality
Cotto's last PPV's were 350k and 1.5 million with Floyd...
i have doubts it can even crack a million bro...
No way, they'll do more than that. Well I'm assuming it's a $60 (HD) PPV feed, if it's a $100 well under a million. But Manny was pulling down 300k after his loss, Floyd at 800k with Maidana twice... They ended up doing 4.4, when two names fight, the buys go up more than double.

1 million is my guess. Each guy is good for 350k or so with no dance partner. May/Pac showed when you get two names, A or B sides, it more than doubles the star power. Yeah, 1 million is my floor. If it did less I would genuinely be surprised.
